Crawford's 2 homers lead Mets to victory

Summary: The runs came early for the Mets. Carl Crawford started things off with a first pitch, leadoff home run in the 1st inning. 4 batters later, recently called up Jhonny Peralta hit a 2 run shot to left field, making it 3-0. 21 year old rookie Adam Loewen struggled early, giving up 2 runs in the 1st. He settled down and pitched a solid 6 innings, earning his 1st career win. A Crawford RBI triple in the 2nd and his 2nd home run in the 5th closed out the Mets scoring. A Ken Griffey RBI single in the 3rd was the last run the Reds scored. Crawford ended up 4-5, just a double away from the cycle. Chad Cordero earned his 1st save of the season, quickly sitting down Adam Dunn, Sean Casey, and Griffey.

Mirabelli's 8th inning homer holds off Reds

Summary: Doug Mirabelli hit a 2 run homer in the top of the 8th inning to put the Mets up 4-0. They thought they were cruising, but little did they know, without it the game would have went in the Reds favor. Reliever Pedro Feliciano came in to pitch the 9th inning with a 4 run lead and no pressure. He proceded to allow base hit after base hit. Joe Randa, Adam Dunn, and Wily Mo Pena all knocked in runs. Willie Randolph didn't want to use him, but they were forced to put Chad Cordero in the game to stop the bleeding. He did just that and collected a 1 out save, his 2nd this year. Carl Crawford tripled in his third straight game. His 3-4 day has his average at .615. He also scored twice today.
