This should be interesting, the Kings will own you.

        2005-2006 Colorado Avalanche

        Landslide
        2005-2006 Season Preview
        Volume 1, Issue 1

In the new look NHL, Avs strive to maintain dominance

DENVER, CO--Ladies and gentlemen, HOCKEY IS BACK!!

While it may not be big to some cities, in places like San Jose, Detroit, St. Paul, Denver and others, it is major. Fans in Colorado love their Avalanche, but this year is full of uncertainty for the traditionally dominant Avs.

All-world clutch star Peter Forsberg has departed due to the new NHL salary cap after being a key component in the two Colorado Stanley Cups and the nine consecutive divisional titles the Avs won from 1994-95 to 2002-03. But in 2003-04 that streak ended on the final day of the season when the up and coming Vancouver Canucks wrestled the Northwest Division from the Avalanche, 101 points to 100.

The Avs' season ended in the conference semis vs. San Jose, and after the finals hockey vanished, plunged into darkness by the bitter conflict between the players and the owners. When it was all settled, a salary cap spread out much of the talent in the league, and traditional powers like the Avalanche and Red Wings may experience a drop back to reality.

But the Avalanche still oozes talent at every position. Vetern leadership exists in captain Joe Sakic and 1998 Norris Trophy winner Rob Blake. Milan Hejduk and Alex Tanguay bring speed and skill, and there are plenty of role players like Steve Konowalchuk, Pierre Turgeon, Patrice Brisebois and Andrew Brunette.

To boost their veteran leadership, the Avs signed a pair of blasts from the past in forwards Adam Deadmarsh and Claude Lemieux. Lemieux is 40 and is probably in his last year, but Deadmarsh contemplated retirement due to injury. At only 30 years old, the Avs hope Deadmarsh can avert injury and stay with the team.

In goal, David Aebischer will continue to try to make Colorado fans forget about Patrick Roy. He had a solid 2003-04 season, posting a 32-19-9 record with a 2.09 GAA.

The reigning Western Champions--the Calgary Flames--and the ever-dangerous Vancouver Canucks are contenders, but the pieces look to be in place for the Avalanche to claim their 10th division title in 11 seasons. But the Avalanche wants much more than that.

                      Sweet! I've never had one.

As long as you don't slash my jugular with a skate, I'm good to go.

Tyler's just bitter because he knows the state of Tennessee has no business having a hockey team.

I absolutely agree with that statement. I barely even remember we have one.

No team south of the Mason-Dixon line should have a hockey team.

Good God, NEVER mention that...that is still the worse injury I have seen in a sport to date...worse than Theismann, worse than McGahee, worse than Prothro.
