Sharks lose opener in Shootout
The "new" NHL started off sour for the Sharks on Wednesday night against the Nashville Predators. Simon Gagne was first to light the lamps. Just one minute and fifty-three seconds into the game, he scored on a one-timer After taking an early lead and nearly 2 whole periods of solid defense, they gave up the tying goal and the game went into overtime. After 5 minutes of extra play, the game was decided in a shootout. The Predators 3rd shooter, Jeremy Roenick, deked out San Jose goalie Sebastien Caron and gave the Preds a 2-1 lead. Dany Heatley was unable to match, and Nashville took the season opener.
