ECW is back on Friday Nights!
Due to the lack of success of WWE Smackdown on Friday Nights on UPN, WWE has opted to just run one single show a week on Monday nights, Raw.
Paul Heyman's contract ran out December 31st 2005, after the WWE failed to renew his contract. On January 2nd 2006, Paul Heyman had a meeting with Vince McMahon about the ECW name, logos, and video library. Heyman confronted McMahon about acquiring all of the above. McMahon said that Heyman could run the promotion under his own free will, with McMahon putting ECW on its payroll and WWE having a working based relationship with Extreme Championship Wrestling. Heyman agreed to a 3 month trial run with McMahon's assistance but after 3 months, they can either go their seperate ways or keep a business relationship.
For the next 2-3 months Heyman went back to work. Recruiting the former stars that made ECW years ago. Numerous stars left TNA on good terms to head back to their old stomping grounds...ECW. Lance Storm left his wrestling school in Calgary, Alberta....Canada, to return back to his love of ECW. Current WWE superstars who previously appeared in ECW had the choice of going there or just wrestling on Monday Nights. RVD, Steven Richards, Tajiri, Tommy Dreamer and Taz (final neck surgery, and months of training has him ready), the five of them chose ECW. Elsewhere in the world of wrestling in this bright 2006....TNA has emerged on Spike TV as more of a top contender than they appeared to be in 2005, having a primetime slot during the week was just what they needed. (This will develop into my other spinoff GM mode...TNA vs WWE). After months of anticipation, Heyman has finally returned to his baby ECW. The day is Thursday April 4th 2006, tomorrow will start a new chapter in Extreme which will be interesting.
