2006 New York Yankees (MLB 06: The Show)

The offense billed as the modern day Murderer's Row has not lived up to the hype so far, as the Yankees have looked very sluggish out of the gate and stumbled to a 5-7 record so far. The Yankees questionable pitching staff has done a decent job so far, but the offense has not held up there end, averaging only 3.75 runs a game. There is still plenty of time to turn it around, but after a slow start last season, the Boss can not be too happy to see his $200 million team struggling so early again.

    Sorry for the long delay...

Yankees started to play better as division games got under way. They went 7-4 against Toronto, TB, and Baltimore, and have their first meeting with rival Boston up next. The team has not hit for as much power as expected, but have a .326 batting average through the first month. Johnson and Mussina have been lights out, but after that the Yankees don't have anyone who has been consistent in the rotation. The bullpen has been great, Kyle Farnsworth, Villone, and Myers have been dominant. Mariano Rivera hasn't been his usual self, but is 4-4 in save opportunities. So far the division has beaten each other up. First and last place is separated by only 2 games.
