An Alternate History of Baseball - OOTP 2006

This might not interest many of you but I figured I'd post the results of an Out of the Park Baseball dynasty I'm running. The league will be made up of 24 current and former teams, the structure of which is by no means meant to be accurate.

    AL East
    Baltimore Orioles
    Boston Red Sox
    New York Yankees
    Toronto Blue Jays
    Philadelphia Athletics
    Washington Senators

    AL West
    Chicago White Sox
    Cleveland Indians
    Detroit Tigers
    Kansas City Royals
    Minnesota Twins
    St. Louis Browns

    NL East
    Atlanta Braves
    Boston Pilgrims
    Brooklyn Dodgers
    Montreal Expos
    New York Giants
    Philadelphia Phillies

    NL West
    Chicago Cubs
    Cincinnati Reds
    Houston Astros
    Milwaukee Brewers
    Pittsburgh Pirates
    St. Louis Cardinals

The players in this league will be a mix of fictional and real players. There will be a 10 round rookie draft every June to replenish the fictional players. They will be created with ratings at 90% of "current MLB" ratings.

On top of this, there will be a 2 round professional draft at the end of each year, consisting of real players who will be debuting in completely random years. I created the database but have no idea what year the best players will debut so some pro drafts may contain HOF'ers while others might contain scrubs. The pro's will be created with ratings at 110% of "current MLB" ratings, so should have a better chance of doing well than the fictional players.

All rules follow as closely as possible to the current MLB (DH, rookie draft, Rule V, Waivers, DFA, etc) The only major differences is there is no wildcard, interleague play and no draft pick compensation. Sorry Bud Selig.

I'll be acting as the GM of the Red Sox during this simulation. All depth charts, lineups, rotations, etc will be handled by the Managers I hire, but I'll be responsible for any transactions after the initial draft.

For any OOTP players, I have a copy of the league before the initial draft and a copy of the random debut year DB if you want to try something similar.

You can view HTML Reports for the league here:

I'm gonna get this thing started today, simming a year or so at a time. I decided not to GM a team since that would take a lot longer and I think this will be more interesting if i can get through 100+ years, rather than just a few.

          1901 Season Complete

The Chicago White Sox won the 1st World Series, defeating the Philadelphia Phillies in 6 games. Their fans responded by claiming they never get any respect.

Due to size constraints I didn't upload box scores, game logs or minor league stats.

          Notable Performances:
Ramon Cortez (fict) of the Phillies hit .403. He also won the NL Triple Crown.

Re: An Alternate History of Baseball - OOTP 2006

                  1905 Season Complete

                  World Series:
Cleveland over Brooklyn 4-3The AL continued it's dominance, winning all 5 World Series so far. This was 2 straight for Cleveland, our first repeat champ.

                  Notable Pro's Drafted:
                  Tony Conigliaro
                  Frank Chance
                  Bob Gibson

                  Notable Performances:
Randall Eckerman (fict) won the AL Best Hitter Award and AL ROY Award. He also set the single season HR record with 55.

Rogers Hornsby (pro) won the NL ROY

Ramon Cortez (fict) won his 4th NL Best Hitter award, hitting .393 to LOWER his career BA to .401. I just realized that a big part of his dominance is because he's a pull hitter and I have the Phillies playing in the Baker Bowl.

Jose Canseco (pro) tied for the NL lead in HR's with 45.

Rich 'El Guapo' Garces (pro) led the NL in saves with 41.
