    Best Rookie Class Showdown Championships

Yes, the BRCSC held tryouts for each rookie class roster of the last-half decade to go up in a showdown to bring home the pride for the rookie class. What??!? Who cares about your rookie class? This has nothing to do with pride as much it has to do with our players playing their hearts out to the new crowd of fans we have realized are into the NBA hardcore. Yeah. We sold out. So we as the BRCSC are conquering the young crowd full time by getting them with the young. The kids like them young boys, they can relate.

These teams will be facing off at various location 2K7 arenas. There are 5 teams. Class of '00, '01, '02, and so on. Get ready for a show, a series of games on XBOX 360 TV and we'll be watching these rivalries unfold. Oh yeah, since we soldout we also catered to all the requests that we received from young ignorant watchers of the game. Too young to know what ignorant means, lol. But yeah, we did away with all the refs, except for Dick Bavetta. He's a funny little man. All the refs are human-like robots (except for those 'Hills Have Eyes' faces) and are programmed with sliders set by the league, based on human vote. The current contract for Sliders signed with the BRCSC is Noah Syed and his company "X*Cell". The X*Cell Sliders can be found here: Sliders

Each team plays each team once, which is 4 games. The top 2 teams from that short season will play in a best of 3 Series for the championship. That is 10 games, plus a possibe 3. 13 Games. And I guarantee it. We match the same ratings as 5 teams in half an NBA Season. The NBA is in deep turmoil, and needs to close down, and make way for the new generation. We like it short and attention-getting. Tournament seasons. Make way for the revolution. Game is on.

Oh yeah... applause for the 2 men funding this little tourney. Noah Syed, who has a deal struck for sliders in the BRCSC, and his good friend Roger who can drop better rhymes than anyone on the radio. Announced through-out the season (play by ear method), these game will all be televised to people with cameras on their computers.

First game is possibly tonight but probably not until late night (around 2 CT) It will be between the 2000 East and 2004 Draft Classes.

Re: Best Rookie Class Showdown Championships

      2000 - 110
      2004 - 105

The game was a back and forth battle. Constant lead switching and a few surprises. Good shooting was the cornerstone of this game. The 2000 class shot 44 for 80 from the field (55.0%) while the 2004 class shot 44 for 86 (51.1%). The 2004 Class also shot 40% from the 3-point line. Both teams were abysmal from the free throw line. 2004 only attempted 15 free throws, and only scored 9 for the game. The 2000 squad made 13 out of 27. The benches contributed hardcore. 136 total points from the bench, with the 2000 squad making up for 78 of them.

Ben Gordon for the 2004 squad was struggling shooting 5 for 15 from the field and 1 for 5 from 3pt range. Beno Udrih picked up the slack in a performance that was way above par. He shot 10 for 14 from the field, and 5 for 8 from the 3pt line. He ended up with 27 points, and kept the 2004 rookie class competitive. One shot that got the crowd riled up, was early in the 4th when the 2004 squad trailed by 8, and Udrih scored 8 straight which included a 3-pointer to tie it.

      2004 Leaders:

      Pts - Beno Udrih - 27
      Reb - Emeka Okafor - 11
      Ast - Luol Deng - 6

Interesting Stat: Beno Udrih scored his 27 points playing only 38.9% of the game. Devin Harris who had the starting job, had 11 points and 1 assist.

Jamal Crawford won the player of the game award by scoring 27 points, grabbing 6 rebounds, and dishing out 6 assists. He shot 13 for 20 from the field. Fellow Knick, Quentin Richardson added 21. Michael Redd scored 19 points. Jamaal Magloire manned the boards pulling down 13 of them. It was Crawford who relentlessly drove to the basket who capped off the win for the 2000 squad. In the late stretches of the game he was near perfect. Coach Scott Skiles had this to say about Crawford and his team's philosophy: "Jamal drove, spun, and finished, just like in practice. Porting what you do in practice into the actual games is the key to victory. Our practices are very game-oriented. We practice game situations more than anything else." Scott Skiles is the 2000 team coach since he was a rookie coach in 2000.

      2000 Leaders:

      Pts - Jamal Crawford - 27
      Reb - Jamaal Magloire - 13
      Ast - Jamal Crawford - 6

Interesting Stat: Starting PG Marko Jaric played a grand total of 7 minutes (out of 36) which is only 19.4%. He had 1 steal, 3 rebounds, and 2 turnovers.

Re: Best Rookie Class Showdown Championships

        2003 - 81
        2001 - 129

Hibachi! Gilbert Arenas is dropping his name all over the place, and is doing wonders with his fame. In the first game, repping the 2001 Draft Class who is projected by many to finish runner up against 2003. Winning by 48 changes the power rankings for sure. Although 2001 suffered from a freethrow shooting problem (13 of 23 made), they shot well from the field (52%) and from the 3pt line (41%). They had 36 assists, and were also a defensive force, grabbing 62 rebounds (20 offensive), and blocking 12 shots. 2003 shot a woeful 4 for 17 from the charity stripe, 35.4% from the field, and 28.2% from beyond the arc. It was a blowout from the start.

Your leading scorer Dwyane Wade shoots 7 for 24. Your best 3-point shooter shoots 1 for 14. Four more of your guys shoot less than 39% from the field. If this is your team, then your team is the 2003 Draft Class. Shots were not going down for this team. They couldn't get "And-ones" because while attacking they would get hacked enough to not have the ability of finishing. They also appeared too shook up to take the freethrows. 4 for 17 is what they shot.

        2003 Leaders:

        Pts - Dwyane Wade - 20
        Reb - Chris Kaman - 11
        Ast - Dwyane Wade - 4

Interesting Stat: The three most frequent shooters in the game (Wade, Kyle Korver, and LeBron James) took 51 total shots. They only made 13 (25.5%) of them.

Gilbert Arenas had 49 points, while Pau Gasol, Tyson Chandler, and Eddy Curry combined for 36 rebounds. Joe Johnson added 28 more points, and Gasol had 4 blocks. In the midst of Arenas' 49 points, he scored 9 three pointers, and shot 64.2% from the field.

        2001 Leaders:

        Pts - Gilbert Arenas - 49
        Reb - Pau Gasol - 16
        Ast - Pau Gasol/Eddy Curry - 6

Interesting Stat: 2001 pulled down 43.5% of their own missed shots, compared to the 2003's 23.3%.

          2001 - 110
          2004 - 113

Along with being a close game, the game was very neat and tidy. Only 19 combined turnovers were committed and only 18 combined fast break points were scored. These teams were pretty even across the board which made the game so close. The 2001 squad shot 47.2% from the floor and 2004 shot 47.1%. No quarter was settled by more than 2 points, and the 4th quarter, although an offensive fest, was a tie. The score in the 4th was 36-36.

With 17.2 seconds left, and their last timeout used up, the 2001 Rookie Class was looking for the tie with a 113-110 lead in 2004's favor. Working the ball around they found a wide-open Joe Johnson with 5 seconds left, who shot a 3 that rimmed in and out. Tipped out by Emeka Okafor, the 2001 Rookie class had one last chance to take a 3 to tie. Gilbert Arenas came up unsuccessful, and 2004 took the game.

          2001 Leaders:

          Pts - Joe Johnson - 25
          Reb - Pau Gasol - 8
          Ast - Gilbert Arenas - 6

Interesting Stat: Johnson, Arenas, and Jason Richardson combined for 69 points. However they only shot a combined 40.7% from the floor.

Dwight Howard scored 16 points, and grabbed 16 rebounds. He was the working man that drove this team to victory late in the 4th, after giving up a big run to the 2001 squad. He shot 8 for 10 from the field. He also pulled down 4 offensive boards which was the key to efficient shooting.

          2004 Leaders:

          Pts - Ben Gordon - 22
          Reb - Dwight Howard - 16
          Ast - Luol Deng/Ben Gordon - 5

Interesting Stat: Beno Udrih scored 16 first half points and 0 second half points. Even with an inconsistent game, Udrih is averaging a team high 21.5 points per game.

Yao Ming and Carlos Boozer combined for 26 points, and 27 rebounds. Their partner in crime? Amare Stoudamire. Yes, those three along with Nene as the subber were running the floor. They oversized all their matchups and took control of the lanes. Their post moves were unguardable. Pure inside dominance is what we saw with 62 points in the paint. Downside? Too slow. 2003's team scored 18 more points (80) in the paint. Driving did them well, even sending them to the line for 32 free-throw attempts. Unfortunately they could only convert on 14 (43.7%) of those freebies. Definite bummer. Even worse, to make the game close after a 41-21 1st quarter slaughter, the 2002 team averaged 17.7 points per regular quarter.

Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade and Josh Howard shot a combined 51 points, 17 rebounds, and 3 steals, for an overall solid game. However, some were putrid. Kyle Korver and LeBron James attempted 36 shots together, and only cashed in on 9 of them (25.0%). Korver was 1 for 12 from beyond the arc.

            2003 Leaders:

            Pts - Carmelo Anthony - 24
            Reb - Chris Kaman - 11
            Ast - LeBron James/Kirk Hinrich - 4

Interesting Stat: LeBron James was quite the hustler. He grabbed 9 rebounds, and stole the ball 6 times. He only committed one turnover himself, but all this was necessary. Who better to pick up his offensive slack? James shot 4 for 16 from the field for a grand total of 9 points.

Going on a huge run in the 1st quarter scoring 41 points, the 2002 squad looked geared for victory. The 2003 team had other plans in mind. From the 2nd to 4th period, the 2002 team was falling apart. 2003 fought a good fight for it, and the benefits were reaped. 2003 sent this baby into Overtime. With a 3 point lead, 2002 was again merely seconds away from victory. Josh Howard cashed the 3 to put that idea to rest. Double OT it was to be. Then the 2002 squad pulled away once and for all to seal it, but the 2003 team definetely gave them a run for their money.

            2002 Leaders:

            Pts - Juan Dixon - 27
            Reb - Yao Ming - 14
            Ast - Carlos Boozer - 5

Interesting Stat: Beno Udrih scored 16 first half points and 0 second half points. Even with an inconsistent game, Udrih is averaging a team high 21.5 points per game.

It was a huge blowout... same old thing for 2003... they couldn't score for their life, and come up upsetting the fans again for a lackluster performance. Regarded as the heavy favorites, it looks like their season is over, and they won't be advancing to the next round.

Jamal Crawford went off for a stunning 45 points to easily claim victory for the 2000 squad, proving that older is better, as the 2000 team moves into first.

                  2002 Leaders:
