Im still on standard xbox

Finished my first match. Definitely a different feel to the gameplay on 4*. I'll probably write up a bit of a recap for each game now too.

Ajax wins first match 3-0

AFC Ajax has three points after their first match in the Super International League, a 3-0 victory over Paris Saint Germain. Playing against one of the weaker teams in the league, it was critical for Ajax to get started in the right direction. The opening goal came just two minutes before halftime. Charisteas was taken down on the edge of the penalty box, but the official ruled the foul occurred inches outside, Sneijder put the free kick beautifully over the wall and past a diving keeper for a 1-0 lead. Sneijder connected on another free kick in the 63rd minute to double the advantage, and Charisteas put the game out of reach as the game wound to a close.

Ajax pulls off inspiring draw in closing minutes

It looked as if AFC Ajax was going to suffer their first loss of the season, while Liverpool FC would win their first contest. After a powerful strike from Xabi Alonso gave Liverpool FC a 2-0 advantage, the prospects looked dim. Ajax's chances took another serious blow ten minutes later, when midfielder Pienaar was sent off after a reckless tackle on a breakaway. But two goals and one man was not enough for Liverpool FC to maintain their lead. Charisteas scored on a free kick from a couple yards outside the box in the 83rd minute. Three minutes later in a similar situation, Charisteas instead lobbed the ball into the box, where Anastasiou muscled a header for the equalizing goal. Neither team was without a chance to take the lead, both having shots which hit the crossbar during injury time.

Villareal FC hands Ajax first loss

Farlon headed a cross from Roger into the net in the 65th minute to give Villareal FC a 1-0 lead that would not be relinquished. Ajax had played a brilliant game of defensive soccer up until that point, allowing few shots on goal despite lots of possession for Villareal FC. After the disappointing goal, Ajax turned the attack up a notch, tallying several solid opportunities, but none made it to the back of the net. The best chance came with less than five minutes to go in the game, but a header from Rosales on the other end of a corner kick hit the left post, and a rebound attempt went wide.

I'm not sure if the difference is from the level change or just playing better teams. Free kicks have been my best shots for goals. Either way, it's fun.

Ajax rebounds from loss with 3-1 win

AFC Ajax claimed three points in a victory versus AS Roma, their first match after the 1-0 loss to Villareal FC. With Huntelaar and Juanfran sitting out, the game was scoreless at halftime. Three minutes after the break, though, Sneijder opened the scoring with a rocket of a shot from at least twenty yards outside the box. The defensive midfielder Galasek was credited with the assist. Rosales stretched the lead to two goals with a nifty touch shot on a crossing pass from Boukhari. AS Roma would grab a goal in the 87th minute after a clearing blunder by Stekelenburg, but never got a look at an equalizing opportunity.

Juventus goes down

AFC Ajax recorded its second victory in a row with a 3-1 win over Juventus, despite resting the captain Sneijder and keeper Stekelenburg. After thirty-five scoreless minutes, Mitea was taken down in the box, and Huntelaar converted on the penalty kick. Rosales added another goal with an outstanding individual effort minutes into the second half, but the lead was cut back to one when Camoranesi punched a loose ball in just three minutes later. After a round of substitutions, the Ajax attack looked to push the lead back to two goals. Charisteas hit the left post on a breakaway, but a couple minutes later Huntelaar added the insurance goal.

Ajax records impressive win versus Arsenal FC

Undisciplined defensive play from Arsenal FC cost them dearly, resulting in two penalty kick goals for Ajax AFC and a 4-1 victory for the Amsterdam squad. Sneijder opened the scoring with a free kick goal in the thirteenth minute, and Huntelaar doubled the lead on a penalty kick eleven minutes later. Walcott found himself wide open just a minute into the second half and halved the deficit, but a careless tackle from Pines on Rosales sent Huntelaar to the spot again, and he did not miss. Rosenberg added another goal after a perfect pass from Babel, and Ajax had plenty of chances to get a fifth if they really wanted to. The result was certainly an unexpected surprise, and a good note to enter Cup play on.
