Re: Memphis Tigers 07 and Beyond!
Tigers start 07 off with a hard-fought win, beat Wofford.
11/18
Memphis,TN
The Memphis Tigers came into 07 looking to live up to the expectations set before them by everyone in the media. Ranked #3 in the nation coming into the season the Tigers had a fight on their hands with Wofford.
After Wofford jumped out to a quick lead at the outset of the game Coach John Calipari called a time-out and implored his players to play better defense "He really got after us and told us to play harder" junior Chris Douglas-Roberts. This tactic worked as the Tigers started getting stops and pulled within one at the half.
When the 2nd half began the Tigers picked up their play and started a 12-2 run to take the lead and never looked back. "We knew we could defend and make stops which translated into points on the other end for us" said junior Robert Dozier. Dozier led the Tigers with 20 points and 4 rebounds. Prized recruit Percy Vance struggled with foul trouble and had 6pts, 4reb, 3ast, 2blk in his debut. " He's gonna be ok foul trouble just limited him tonight but I promise you all hes a special player" said Coach Calipari.
The Tigers while starting slow really picked it up in the 2nd half and got the Victory

Re: Memphis Tigers 07 and Beyond!
All Players score as Tigers roll over Monmouth.
11/24
Memphis, TN
The Memphis Tigers had a rough couple pf practices since the hard fought victory over Wofford a week ago because John Calipari felt they needed to be whipped into shape for them to realize expectations and they responded big time against the visiting Monmouth Eagles last night.
In the 1st half it looked like the Tigers would have another fight on their hands from a little regarded school trailing Monmouth by as much as 5 in the 1st half. "We all knew we had to pull together and get stops and we did that" said junior Antonio Anderson who had 14pts and 6ast.
The Tigers went into halftime up 37-35 and Percy Vance was the Player of the Half with 8pts on 4-4 shooting including 2 thunderous jams. "I didnt play up to my potential last game so I came out and tried to play better tonight" saidd the freshman from Boynton Beach,Fl.
The 2nd half cam and the Tigers looked like a totally different team as they went on a 20-2 run to start the half and from then on they never looked back. "I guess the threat of grueling practices worked" quipped Coach Calipari. But the players say it was just wanting to play up to potential "We knew we were better than how we were playing" said senior Andre Allen who had 12pts and 4ast. All players scored for the #3 ranked Tigers(2-0)

Tigers Blowout UCLA! Balanced scoring leads Memphis past UCLA 82-62
11/30
Anchorage,AK
UCLA is supposed to be a good team even without Arron Afflalo, the Memphis Tigers didn't get the memo. The Tigers used pressure and size to beat UCLA in a game that was never in doubt. "If there is another team in the country better than Memphis, I dont want to see them." said Bruins coach Ben Howland.
In the first half Freshman sensation Percy Vance led a 17-7 run to start off the game. "We just didn't want to have a bad start like the last 2 games and shot were falling for me so I kept looking to attack." said Vance. The Tigers went into the half leading 41-31 and Vance was the Player of the Half with 10pts on 5-5 shooting.
The second half fared no better for the Bruins who were just outmatched inside and outside in this game. "We just wanted to keep pressure on them and were them dow with our depth" said Tre'Von Willis who had 10pts, 8 of them in the 2nd half
