    Tampa Bay Devil Rays--MLB 2K7

In 1998 two new teams came into the League, one being the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, the other was the very successful Arizona Diamondbacks. Since the arrival the Devil Rays haven't made the postseason and better yet even finished better than 4th in the AL East. With nobody in the lineup over 29 years old they have much potential, but they seem to never put it in perspective. Lou Piniella, the former manager of the Devil Rays, was disgusted with the play and non-determination of the D-rays so he left for a more determined Cubs clubhouse. Now, is this the year the Devil Rays will finally make it to the playoffs or even finish better than 4th place in a tough AL East? We'll have to wait and see....

April 2, 2007--Tampa Bay Devil Rays @ New York Yankees

The D-rays sent young hopeful Scott Kazmir to the mound in the season opener to face a 19 game-winner from a year ago, Chien Ming Wang.

    1st Inning
Kazmir got into some real trouble giving up a couple of doubles and and getting wild, allowing a run to score off of a wild pitch.
    Yankees 4, Devil Rays 0

    2nd Inning
D-rays got a couple of hits with one out, but Wang quickly disposed any hopes of an early run for them, striking out Jonny Gomes to make 2 outs, and getting Navarro to pop up to Matsui for out number 3. Kazmir getting into more trouble in the second inning gave up 2 two-run homers to Jason Giambi and Derek Jeter.
    Yankees 8, Devil Rays 0

    3rd Inning
Ben Zobrist hit a solo blast off of Wang. After a lead off bomb by Johnny Damon, Kazmir was done. Righty Reliever Shawn Camp would relieve him of his duties.
    Yankees 9, Devil Rays 1

    4th Inning
Wang continues to dominate with 8 K's through 4. Camp has a pretty good inning other than a lead off double by Giambi.
    Yankees 9, Devil Rays 1

    5th Inning
Wang got one more K to get his total to 9. Camp has a 3up, 3 down inning
    Yankees 9, Devil Rays 1

    6th Inning
One more K for Wang, total to 10. Rain Delay. Camp induces a ground ball double play and gets out of the inning after the delay.
    Yankees 9, Devil Rays 1

    7th Inning
Wang gets another K, 11 for the game. Matsui hit a two-run homer off of Camp and then Posada hit a double to end his day. Same ole' nothing on offense for the D-rays.
    Yankees 11, Devil Rays 1

    8th Inning
Nothing happened except some more Wang dominance.
    Yankees 11, Devil Rays 1

    9th Inning
Melky Cabrera boots a fly ball to start the inning in center. Crawford gets picked off at first. Game ends the way it started. Yankee dominance.
    Yankees 11, Devil Rays 1

April 4, 2007--Tampa Bay Devil Rays @ New York Yankees

      Mike Mussina vs. James Shields
      1st Inning
Mike Mussina strikes out first 2 batters, induces ground ball to end the top half of the first. Shields walks a batter but gets out of the inning unhurt.
      Devil Rays 0, Yankees 0

      2nd Inning
Mussina does the exact same as the first inning, 4 K's now. Shields also mimics his first inning minus the walk.
      Devil Rays 0, Yankees 0

      3rd Inning
Mussina gets 2 more K's, D-rays really having K problems. Shields goes 3 up, 3 down. A real pitchers duel looks to be in the making.
      Devil Rays 0, Yankees 0

      4th Inning
Mussina gets 2 more, up to 8 K's already. Josh Phelps leads off the 4th with a solo blast and the first hit for the Yanks. Shields gets the rest of the batters easily, striking out A-Rod to end the inning.
      Yankees 1, Devil Rays 0

      5th Inning
Wigginton gets the first hit for the D-Rays just to get doubled up a pitch later. Shields has no threats in the inning.
      Yankees 1, Devil Rays 0

      6th Inning
Mussina continues just like Wang, dominating. Shields gives up a hit and walks one but the Yanks don't capitalize.
      Yankees 1, Devil Rays 0

      7th Inning
Zobrist leads of the inning with a single to right field. Delmon Young continues inning with a one-out ground rule double. Ty Wiggington drives in Zobrist with a chopper to third base. Iwamura strands Young at second. Robinson Cano hits a one-out double. Johnny Damon drives him in with another double. Damon scores also. Jeter struck out to end the inning.
      Yankees 3, Devil Rays 1

      8th Inning
Gomes leads off inning with double. Mussina leaves after 7+ innings. Navarro gets Gomes to 3rd. Yankees make another pitching change. Upton strikes out. 2 outs now. Giambi snags a ball down the line as he was playing on it. Brian Stokes comes in for the D-rays to pitch. Nothing doing for the Yanks on offense.
      Yankees 3, Devil Rays 1

      9th Inning
Rivera gets the call from the pen to close the game out. Game over right? Right. After 2 base hits for the D-rays A-Rod turned a double play.
      Yankees 3, Devil Rays 1
