Another Great Day for Yankee Pitching
Torre Ejected during the game after Blown Call!

        Devil Rays 1, Yankees 4

New York City, NY -- Joe Torre doesn't scream alot, but when an Umpire blows a call and it's very obvious, then he will scream. The Umpire called Derek Jeter out when he clearly stepped on the bag before the player got the ball. Joe Torre came out and screamed at the Umpire and got ejected from the game. This game was another great one for the pitchers. This time it was Mike Mussina, he struck out 12 batters. Good job to the Yankees.

        WP: Mike Mussina (1-0) - 8.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 12 K (12)
        LP: Casey Fossum (0-1) - 5 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER
        S: Josh Smith (1) - 0.2 IP, K (1)
        - Shawn Camp(TB) - 3 IP, 2 H, K (1)

        Bobby Abreu - 2-4, R, 3 RBI (3), HR (1)
        Johnny Damon - 2-4, RBI (3)

        Rocco Baldelli - 0-4, R
        Jonny Gomes - 1-4
        Ty Wigginton - 1-3

          Clean Sweep!
Jorge Posada hits a 2 run shot to tie the game!

          Devil Rays 4, Yankees 5

New York City, NY -- This was a very close game, the pitching was off for today. The Devil Rays scored 4 Runs in the 1st Inning and that would be the only runs they would get. Then the Yankees rallied back and at 6th Inning it was 4-2. In the 7th, Jorge Posada blasted his 2nd Home Run of the game and it was worth 2 Runs which tied the game at 4-4. Then Jason Giambi was at 3rd Base and the pitcher threw a bad pitch, it got past the catcher and Jason Giambi would score easily to take the lead 5-4. Bad News for Yankee Fans, Joe Torre was ejected once again and now players are wanting him to cool down.

The Yankees has their first Series sweep of the year, now can they do it again as they get set to take on the Baltimore Orioles.

For the pitching game, the starting pitcher was not awarded the win. Instead it was the reliever who was the third pitcher of the game for the Yankees. Scott Proctor came in after Adam Pettitte gave up 4 hits and 4 ER. Mariano Rivera came in and did damage control, and finally Scott Proctor came in and pitched 3 innings. Then the closer Josh Smith came in and finished it off, he is awarded with his 2nd Save of the year.

          WP: Scott Proctor (1-0) - 3 IP, H, 4 K
          LP: Dan Miceli (0-1) - IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 ER
          S: Josh Smith (2) - 0.2 IP
          - Mariano Rivera (NYY) - 4.2 IP, 2 H, 2 K
          - Adam Pettitte (NYY) - 0.2 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 4 ER
          - James Shields (TB) - 6.1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER

          Jorge Posada - 2-3, 2 R, 3 RBI (3), 2 HR (2)
          Melky Cabrera - 1-3, R, RBI (3)
          Johnny Damon - 1-3, R

            Saved by the Rain
Rain Delay in the 6th gives Yankees the win!

            Orioles 3, Yankees 5

New York City, NY -- Well the rain was pouring in favor of the Yankees. They made it to the 6th Inning when it was 3-4 with a man on 3rd and 2 outs. Then Jason Giambi got a base hit and got the run batted in to advance the scores to 5-3. The Yankees was wanting the rain to come down heavily so they could leave and re cooperate after allowing 2 runs in the 1st Inning. The Yankees got their wish, the rain was coming down so heavily that the Umpires had to call the game off and since it was the 6th Inning it was ended.

NO STATS IF IT WAS ENDED BY RAIN!

Torre Ejected from the game for the 4th Time this year

              Orioles 2, Yankees 13

New York City, NY -- Joe Torre did it again, he managed to get ejected from the game when Jorge Posada tagged a batter out at home, but the Umpire called him safe. Joe Torre came out yelled at him and got ejected. The owner of the Yankees said he isn't going to have this anymore and he is gonna talk to Torre about it.

              WP: K. Irvin (1-0) - 7.2 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 5 K
