Re: Road to the Majors (BM 08)
2011 Amature Draft
Josh Linn - SP - R/R - 17 years old
Drafted in the 1st round, 5th overall
Scouting Report: Both Seattle and the White Sox could be kicking themselves in a couple of years for passing on Linn. He has the potential and the stuff to be an ace on any staff 5 years from now. His fastball can easily get up to 98mph, and sits around 96 on a regular basis. His change-up and a side armed curve accompany his great fastball. Rumor has it that he has also learned the mysterious gyroball, and will throw it on several occations during a game. It's still being polished, but if he masters that pitch he could become one of the greatest pitchers of all time. (no joke, it seriously lists the gyroball as one of his pitches) Linn will start in rookie ball, but expect him to rocket through the organization and possibly be in Houston two years from now.
Greg Callaghan - CF - R/R - 16 years old
Drafted in the 1st round, 12th overall
Scouting Report: Callaghan has the best 5-tool potential in this draft without a doubt. Given time, he could become a regular 30-30 player, and an All-Star pretty much every year. He is just 16 years old, so hopefully Colorado will be patient, but they have been known to rush their prospects. They could use a center fielder now, but if they wait a couple of years the payoff could be more than what they need. He is one of the best fielding center fielders to come out of high school in the past 20 years.
John Woodlock - SS - R/R - 17 years old
Drafted in the 1st round, 15th overall
Scouting Report: Based on potential, Woodlock could have easily been picked in the top 5. He isn't quite there yet in terms of hitting or fielding, but the kid is just 17 years old. If the Yankees don't screw him up like they do most of their farm system, he could become the next Derek Jeter. He's not going to blow you away with offensive numbers, and his fielding isn't going to be great, but he will be a good all-around player.
Mike Cholawo - CF - R/R - 21 years old
Drafted in the 1st round, 16th overall
Scouting Report: Cholawo is probably the guy that should have been taken by the Rockies, as he has the skills to fill in at center right now. He might not have the speed or fielding ability that Callaghan will have, but he will be a much better all around hitter. Cholawo will probably start in double-a, but has a very good chance of getting a call up in September.Comment

Re: Road to the Majors (BM 08)
You're not giving yourself enough credit. Callaghan stil has tons of potential, it'll just take him probably 3-4 years to get to the majors, which would still make him only 21-22 years old.Fan of....

Re: Road to the Majors (BM 08)
Just letting you guys know that this isn't over. I'll try to post something tomorrow, but I'm leaving for vacation Thursday morning and won't be back until August 7th. I'm in 2014, so I'll try to get to the end of 2015 tonight and post the stuff tomorrow.
A couple of notes...
--Chris Martins won ROY, and is now a 2 time all-star
--Mike Snider is making a cool $5+ million a year with the White Sox
--Baby G traded to the Dodgers
--Crissey drafted 1st overall in 2013 draft.Fan of....

Re: Road to the Majors (BM 08)
I'm pretty sure as a free agent. Both Snider and Martins are on the same team now doing pretty well.
Yeah, I just checked and in Feb 2013 you signed a 1 year deal worth $4.6 million, and 2 months later signed a 3 year extension worth $6.5 million a year. It's pretty funny that you are making a million more a year than Martins, who is a 2 time all star, roy winner, and gold glove player.Last edited by cubsfan203; 07-25-2007, 01:08 AM.Fan of....
