Game #1 vs. Panthers
The first game of the year for the Ravens under new head coach Rubisco was a major letdown as the Ravens lost to the Panthers 24-6 in Carolina. Although the Ravens held the advantage in total yards (290-225), first downs (23-9) and in time of possession, it was the turnovers that lead to the Raven's demise. Chris Redman making his first start in a Raven's uniform threw 3 interceptions and lost a fumble; all four of the turnovers lead to Panthers scoring drives.
On the bright side, 3rd year HB Jamal Lewis had an impressive day with 108 rushing yards on 24 attempts and 7 receptions for 68 yards. It looks like Lewis is completely healed from his torn ACL. Ray Lewis lead the stifling defense with 12 solo tackles and rookie Ed Reed came down with an interception.
Next week, the Ravens take on the Tampa Bay Bucs. -

Week 2 vs. Buccaneers
In a hotly and evenly contested match between the Ravens and the Bucs, the Bucs (2-0) prevailed 20-16 over the Baltimore Ravens (0-2). It was basically a toss-up in both sides of the ball as the teams were fairly even in total yards (257-244), first downs (14-12), and in time of possession. The turning point in the game was the 3rd quarter. With the Ravens up 13-10, Chris Redmon threw yet another costly interception at his own 20 yard line. The Bucs quickly took advantage as Mike Alstott ran for a 2 yard TD score.
Jamal Lewis ran for 93 yards on 23 attempts with 1 TD. Both Travis Taylor and Todd Heap caught 7 passes for 51 and 55 yards respectively. On the defensive side, Ray Lewis and Peter Boulware each had 10 solo tackles with Chris McAlister coming down with his first interception of the year.
The Ravens have a bye next week but will face a stacked Broncos team in week 4.Comment

The Ravens won their first game of the year 20-13 against the heavily favored Broncos. Although the visiting Broncos had a strong showing by their offensive team, their special teams failed miserably as the Ravens often started their offensive drives with terrific field position. Rookie returner Lamont Brightful had a fantastic day with 3 kick off returns for 103 yards, giving the Ravens the field position they lacked in the first two games.
The Broncos offensive drives clicked early yet could not sustain a lengthy drive as both Peter Boulware and Ray Lewis accounted for 20 solo tackles and 2 sacks. Jamal Lewis continued his strong season with 78 yards on 21 attempts with a TD.
Next week, the Ravens (1-2) travel to Cleveland to tackle their division rivals the Browns (3-1).Comment
