Game 8: vs Cleveland Cavaliers (4-3)

      Denver Cav'e in!

ABOVE: King James takes control and guides the Cav's to a thumping win, RIGHT: Nene, Nono - Denver lose the Brazilian for 9 days.

Denver 11/12: LeBron James leads the Cavaliers to a dominate win over the Nuggets, as they control the rock and the scoreboard from tip to finish, racking up a 29pt win, 127-98.

James was the architect of the early damage inflicted on the Nuggets, as he put up 10 1st quarter points but more importantly, left the Denver defense scrambling to try and cope with his presence. This left the other Cav' players able to feed off of 'Bron 'Bron and put up good numbers of their own.

The Denver response left little to please their own fans following the recent road-trip, as yet again they fell foul of poor ball possession and shot decision (AI being the notable disappoinment, shooting 4-16).

To add to their woes, big forward Nene came off in pain through the 4th and was later diagnosed with a strained MCL that will keep him on limited floor time for around 9 days.

      INSIDE NUGGETS:

Coach Karl: "LeBrons their man out there, he is their go-to guy and we knew that. We had a plan to play him, but maybe we concentrated too much on stopping James, than we did on stopping Cleveland...its something i and the coaching staff will address"

Nene: "It got a bit stiff out there, but you work through the pain sometimes to try and get your team back in games"

Game 9: vs Portland Trail Blazers (1-6)

        Blazed!

(PITCTURED K'MART & MARCUS CAMBY): Denvers big men collect 28 boards between them, as Oden comes away with zero!

Denver 11/14: Following on from their heavy loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Nuggets got their act together and were able to put on a well-rounded performance to close down the (1-6) Portland Trail Blazers, 88-77.

Denver finally appeared to be able to control the boards at the right times, whilst also forcing Portland into poor shots and some key turnovers. Throughout the game, Denver held a comfortable lead, even reaching 20pts at its peak in the 3rd quarter, as Portland mustered just 7 points against a dominate Denver defense. Portland did eventually force themselves back under double digits, but consistent offense and enough big plays on defense ensured the win for the hosts.

With Nene out of action, the Nuggets found good production from JR Smith who top scored with 21, to compliment AI and Melo as Denver looked like a tougher unit out on the court. Whilst K'Mart collected a team season high 17 boards and Marcus Camby added another double double to his stats, with 10pts and 11 Reb.

        INSIDE NUGGETS:

Coach Karl: "We got the result that we wanted out there, and to a extent its the performance that we expect. Offensively we have the weapons to put games away, but defensively we have lacked the cocentration and discipline needed to shut games down... tonight we may have turned a corner"

K'Mart: "Everyone talks about G.O being the next big thing, well tonight he had a chance to make his mark in Denver, and he failed. We owned the rock, its good to put up numbers like that as people will have to take notice of the Nuggets this year"

Cheers Bulk, nice work with the Pistons btw

Yeah I think we can put a run together to get a good enough record to make the play-offs... probably lucky to be in a weak division, where a 5-4 record see's me sit at the top!

From then on, it'll be tough ... the team has enough pieces to compete, just need to keep AI and Melo free from serious injury. In saying that, I do like what JR Smith is bringing, so have upped his minutes in recent games.

Game 10: vs New York Knicks (5-3)

              Deja'Vous!

ABOVE: Robinson takes charge for the Knicks, RIGHT: Another tough day for 'The Answer'

Denver 11/17: Earlier in the month, the Knicks racked up a 44 point crushing of Denver at the Gardens.... tonight, the Knicks put the Nuggets to the sword once again, as they walk away from the Pepsi Center with a 112-82 humbling of their hosts.

New York put on an impressive all round show, as 4 players hit 10 points or more, whilst 11 of the 12 played for 10 minutes or more. It was Nate Robinson who impressed the most with 25pts, shooting over .500 in just 15 minutes on the floor. 'Starbury' and Richardson again put together decent tallies, hitting 18pts a piece and leaving the Denver D' in tatters.

For the Nuggets, AI and Melo both reach 20 points again, whilst K'Mart claimed another 11 boards, becoming the standout rebound guy in the lineup. However, turnovers once again killed the Nugget chances, as they gave the rock up over 20 times to the Knicks.

              INSIDE NUGGETS:

Coach Karl: "We talked about this before, we are now looking at a overhaul of our defensive system, as its not working out there for us"

Allen Iverson: "Its embarassing that we give up these numbers... in 2 games the Knicks have us by 70 points. I am happy in Denver, but the team right now is not good enough to win me a championship"

Game 11: vs Chicago Bulls (3-6)

                Bulls Fall Shy!

ABOVE: JR goes down bad, and will miss almost a months action, RIGHT: All about 'Melo, as Anthony puts up the numbers and drains the winning bucket!

Denver 11/20: A nail-biting finish at the Pepsi Center saw the Nuggets hang on to a 1 point win, as they end their home stand on a high and get back to a winning 6-5 record for the season.

The Bulls started out the better team, chasing the Nuggets for a 5 point 1st quarter lead, before Denver got themselves back into the game thanks to a forced offensive game, that saw them draw big fouls to put Chicago starters 'Deng, Big Ben and Nocioni' on the bench. This breathing space allowed the Nuggets to put on back to back 28-23 quarters against the Bulls 'pine' and give them just enough to hold onto through a tight 4th.

Chicago never gave up and to their credit, whittled down a 10 point Denver lead to get their noses infront in the final minute.... this is when Carmelo Anthony took charge of the ball, drove inside and drew a foul whilst sinking a layup with the +1 to follow. He made the extra, giving the Bulls just 2.4 seconds and 0 timeouts to make a game winner, which Gordon missed from downtown.

Denver hold on for the win 101-100.

                INSIDE NUGGETS:

Coach Karl: "Drawing fouls was the key to our success out there. Look at the minutes by Deng, Wallace and Nocioni.. they all took 2/3 fouls in the first quarter... it set us up to play their bench guys through 2 and 3, which gave us just enough to get the W"

Jim Gillen (Athletic Trainer): "JR took a bad turn out there, you could see he was in pain the moment he landed. Our initial diagnosis is a strained achilles, but we will do some scans to ensure theres nothing more serious to worry about"

                  Game 12: @ Los Angeles Clippers (4-5)

                  Clipped at the Buzzer!

ABOVE: Mobley and Brand give the Nuggets nightmares, as they combine for 20 4th quarter points as the latter sinks the winning duece!

Denver 11/21: In another outing that goes to the buzzer beater, this time its the Nuggets who fail to make their opportunity count, allowing the Clippers to use their offensive weapons, to nail the winning jumper with just 2 seconds left.

The game started with a slow temp and slow scoring as neither side stepped into their rythmn early. Infact the 1st quarter saw a sub .400 game shooting percentage, as both teams missed the chance to race away early. The Nuggets got going in the 2nd as Carmelo started to drain shots from all around the arc, eventually shooting a superb 14-19, totalling 36pts.

However for all the Nugget endeavours, it was never going to be their night. Nene was fouled out early in the 4th, this gave the Clippers some precious impetous, which they put to good use as Brand and Mobley got their games going, to put up 20pts and combine for the winning shot.

                  INSIDE NUGGETS:

Coach Karl: "Bit of a choker for us out there... we had our shot, missed and then let them boss us in our own end. They made the buckets when they needed to, thats why we took the loss"

Carmelo Anthony: "Performance wise I am happy to keep putting up the numbers. But as a team, we know we are better than .500, theres alot more for me and the team to do"

Game 13: vs Minnesota Timberwolves (2-7)

                      Hungry Wolves!

ABOVE: Gerald Green (left) makes the jam in Cambys face!, whilst (right) AI tried to revive the Nuggets in a dismal display!

Denver 11/23: The Nuggets fall to a second successive defeat and now sit at 6-7 for the season, after giving up a bad loss at the Pepsi Center, to a struggling Minnesota team.

The T'Wolves came out looking hungry for the win as they took a slender lead through the 1st quarter, in what proved to be another low scoring opening in a Nuggets match.

Back and forth scoring kept the game close, before the Wolves started to exert pressure in the 3rd, with Foye, Brewer and Green making clutch plays to eventually get their lead into double-digits.

Allen Iverson tried to drag the Nuggets back into the game single-handedly in the 4th, but although he put up 10 points to keep the score respectable, Denver Head Coach 'Karl, pulled his starters for the final 3 minutes, with the team trailing by 15 and on course for defeat.

A brief rally from the Denver bench kept things interesting, but Minnesota did enough to maintain a healthy lead, to take the game by 17.

                      INSIDE NUGGETS:

Coach Karl: "There are one or two problems out there right now, we seem to be lacking drive to get ourselves back into games. Theres a long way to go, but we have to be careful not to slip out of the race early on."

Allen Iverson: "People are questioning our fight, but I know for sure that the players give their all on every play out there. I haven't got the answers right now, but we will get things turnaround"

Would you have to give too much up and would you need him?

Yeah, although ive not looked into making any moves yet... i wanted to go as far as i can with the 'real Nugget' roster, and assess each player individually.

Some do not suit my play style, so it may be the case of looking to rebuild in certain areas, as at 6-7 i need to start getting some production....

                          Cheers for checking in

                            Game 14: @ Houston Rockets (6-6)

                            Rockets Fizzle Out!

ABOVE LEFT: T'Mc sets the early tone with the 1 handed jam...RIGHT: AI stands out for Denver, grabbing both boards and points on his stat line!

Denver 11/24: Denver come back from an early defecit that saw the Rockets head out by 10 early in the 2nd, to turn the game around and clinch a comfortable 109-94 win @ Houston.

Tracy McGrady looked to set the tone early, putting on a show of dunks and layups, to tally up 18 of his eventual 31 points in the 1st half. Unfortunately for him, team-mates Francis, James and Yao all failed to show in the 2nd half, as they mustered just 45 points in reply to Denver's 63 point 2nd half haul.

For the Nuggets, it was another dazzler from the 'Answer' as Iverson notched 30pts / 6Reb / 8Ast, to lead them to the win. Backing him up for a combined 40 point stash, was Carmelo Anthony and Nene, who himself has looked revitalised since his brief layoff with injury.

With this win, Denver find themselves back at .500 for the season, with just 4 more games to go until November is complete.

                            INSIDE NUGGETS:

Coach Karl pt1: "That was good for us out there, we stuck to the fundamentals and played to our gameplan of shooting the percentage shots."

Coach Karl pt2: "What you get from Allen is some great basketball... at times you dont have to say anything to him, just let him take control and things like tonight will happen. When it does, you get guys like Carmelo and Nene feeding off his energy, and thats why you saw 70 points from those three out there tonight"
