    Top of the 3rd:

Gonzalez grounds out 4-3. Harang pops out to second. Freel grounds out to Johnson at first.

    Bottom of the 3rd:

Price lines a single off of a diving Gonzalez’ glove. Logan bounces into a 3-6 force play. Lopez grounds out 3-1; Logan to second. Kearns raps an RBI single to center. 1-0 Nationals.
Ross lets a ball get away from him, so Kearns advances to second. Johnson singles to right. The score is now 2-0. That’s 10 games in a row Johnson has gotten at least one hit. Zimmerman shatters his bat as he grounds out 1-3. The bat head flies out towards second base.

    Top of the 4th:

Keppinger flares a single to center. Griffey grounds a single past short. Runners are on first and second. Ross singles to center. The bases are loaded. Dunn hits a sharp grounder to short. Lopez fires to third—fore play! A runs scores however, and the score is now 2-1. Runners are on first and second. Encarnacion hits a sharp grounder to Harris at second. He feeds the ball to Lopez at the second base bag for the force. But he drops the ball attempting to throw to first. But they get out of the inning, as Hatteberg grounds out 6-3.

    Bottom of the 5th:

Logan singles up the middle. With Logan running, Lopez grounds out 4-3. Logan stands at second. With Kearns up, Logan steals third. Kearns grounds out 4-3, run scores and it’s now 3-1. Johnson grounds out 4-3.

    Top of the 6th:

Keppinger lines out to left. Griffey hits a rocket off of the center field wall for a double. Ross singles over Harris’ glove. Griffey at first retreated back to the bag, but then advanced, but he couldn’t score. Runners on first and third.

(mound conference; Price has thrown 76 pitches…46 for strikes. Enrique Gonzalez starts to warmup in the pen)

Dunn singles to center. RBI single…and the score is now 3-2. Encarnacion singles JUST over Lopez’ head at short. Dunn held up at first thinking the ball would be caught. He stops at second. Hatteberg sharply lines out to short and Dunn is doubled up off the bag.

    Top of the 7th:

    ::double switch::

    Price-out
    Enrique Gonzalez-in
    Harris-out
    Belliard-in

Alex Gonzalez lines out to third. Joey Votto pinch-hitting for Harang, grounds out 4-3. Freel singles to right-center…and Kearns bobbles the ball. Freel ends up on second. Keppinger lines out to right.

    Top of the 8th:

Griffey doubles to right center. That’s his 4th hit of the game. Ross flies out to deep center. Griffey tags and goes to third. Dunn is intentionally walked.

    (lefty specialist, Arnie Munoz in)

Encarnacion grounds into a 6-4 fielder’s choice. The double play was JUST missed. Griffey scores and the score is now 3-3. Bubba Crosby enters the game to pinch-run for Encarnacion. Norris Hopper is up…pinch hitting for Hatteberg. Hopper singles to center.

    (Jon Rauch in)

Alex Gonzalez flies out to center.

    Bottom of the 8th:

    ::defensive changes for the Reds::

Jerry Gil in at 3rd, Dunn goes from LF to 1B and Crosby remains in the game and plays left.

Lopez grounds out to first. One his first pitch to Kearns, Reds’ reliever Jared Burton grabs his elbow.

    (Justin Lehr in)

Kearns doubles off of the right-center field wall. Johnson grounds out 4-3—Kearns does not advance. Zimmerman grounds out 4-3.

    Top of the 9th:

Javier Valentin is announced as the pinch-hitter for Lehr.

    (Nats closer Chad Cordero in)

Valentin singles to center. Freel trying to sacrifice Valentin to second, bunts the ball too hard and bunts into a 5-4-3- double play! Keppinger singles to left-center. but Griffey strikes out swinging! The side is down in the top of the ninth.

    Bottom of the 9th:

    (Mike Stanton in)

Wily Mo Pena strikes out swinging. Dmitri Young pinch-hitting for Cordero, lines out to left. Crosby making a nice falling catch.. LoDuca gets a RARE infield hit--to very deep short, but Belliard grounds out 5-3.

    Top of the 10th:

    (Ray King in)

Ross singles to left. King uncorks a wild pitch. Ross to second. Dunn is intentionally walked. Crosby bunts into a 2-5 fielder's choice. Jerry Gil grounds into a 4-6-3 double play.

    Bottom of the 10th:

Nook Logan singles past short. Lopez flies out to center. Logan is thrown out trying to steal, 2-4. Kearns flies out to center.

    Top of the 11th:

Alex Gonzalez leads off with a sharp single to right. Mike Stanton (batting because the Reds used their whole bench), drops a bunt down third that's misplayed by LoDuca. Runners on first and second.

Leadoff batter, Ryan Freel drops a sac bunt down, 5-3. Runners on 2nd and 3rd and 1 out. Keppinger is intentionally walked. He is absolutely on fire vs. lefties. Bases loaded and Griffey, Jr. up. I set up for the double play and I position the infield and the outfield shifted to the LEFT, since I will pitch Griffey, Jr. on the outside corner for this at bat.

My first pitch to Griffey was a fastball outside off the plate for ball one. My second pitch was another fastball that I tried to spot on the outside corner about knee high...and...the runners were going....ALL of them?!?!?

But........Griffey MISSED the bunt!!!!...the pitch missed it's mark. It was below the knees and OFF of the outside corner. Gonzalez was a dead duck at home....out trying to steal (1-2). Runners on second and third. I then intentionally walked Griffey (he already had 4 hits in the game including a LONGGGG double off of the center field wall).

(mound visit to help King get his focus...lol)

I know the next batter, Cody Ross, KILLS lefties, but my righty in the pen, Simontacchi, was not ready.

King gets out of the jam by getting Ross to fly out to Logan in medium center. WHEW!!!!

    Bottom of the 11th:

Johnson singles past second base. Milledge in the game to pinch-run for him. Zimmerman walks

(Reds' newly acquired reliever Jeremy Affeldt in)

Pena strikes out. Backup catcher Jesus Flores pinch-hits for King. On a 1-1 pitch he blasts a 3-RUN HOMER, a walkoff homer!!! He took an Affeldt slider and hit it deep to left. The Nats win!!!
