Florida Gators (ch2k8)

I am going to start posting on my dynasty that I started recently with Florida. I picked Florida bc they are a young team and I like the idea of building a team but still using "real" players. I will just post a brief summary of each game, normally just relevant stats.

I will be playing 13 minute halves and will play each game. The first season I will be using Florida's actual schedule but will increase the strength of sch after yr 1.

I am trying to do 3 things in the dynasty and will update on each.
1) Championships
2) See how close I can come to avg a triple double with Nick Calathes
3) See how many players can come up with 1000 career points (5 freshman and 2 sophs)

This game was very close as I was losing the entire first half before I got hot in the end.

Florida 77 (1-1)
Tennessee Tech 87

Bigtime upset as there PG Fisher hit everything he threw up and finished with 26 pt 7 ast. No matter what defense I ran I could not stop them at all. Pissed that my perfect season is over after 2 games.

Very easy victory as all of my Gators were hitting everything they put up.
Chandler Parsons was player of the game with 20 pts and 3 ast. Calathes had 13 p 10 ast 9 rebs

Florida v North Florida

North Florida 69

Record 3-1

Another great game by the entire team as everyone was clicking from the start. The bench played the last 4 mins of game and still ended up with a 20 pt win. Calathes had 1st triple double with 17 pts 10 ast 10 rebs. Speights 21 pts 10 rebs

Florida is a great team to play for as all the players are young and are all listed as not drafted so they should not be leaving early. I will post after each game I play and normally play 3-4 per week as I dont have that much time. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Tough loss to rival. FSU hit everything and my big men were in foul trouble. Florida only has two legit post players and then I have to play SF at the big positions if they are in foul trouble.

Isiah Swann had 26 pts on 6-8 3s. everytime I got it close Swann hit another big three. I was having to play zone due to foul issues. Tony Douglas also had big game with 16 pts 10 ast.

Record 4-2

Nice bounce back win versus a weak opponent. They were actually up 2 at half 38-40 but could not stay with me in the 2nd half. Calathes was player of the game with 20 ts 6 ast 4 rebs. Stetson was pretty good on the boards so this game really hurt Calathes in his rebound avg.


Other stats
Speights 16 pts 13 rebs probaly his best game of the season
Hodge 16 pts for sure his best game. only had 19 pts total coming into this game
Chandler Parsons 13 pts 5 rebs. Developing into a solid 3rd option behind Calathes and Speights
Tyus 8 pts 4 rebs

Easy win. Vermont hung around for the first 8 mins then folded. The outcome was never in doubt and the game was not as close as the final score. Vermont hit tons of 3s in the last 3 mins to mae it this close
Calathes almost had another triple double but could get the rebounds yet again.

Chandler Parsons (POG -player of game) 21 pts 2 rebs
Hodge 12 pts 5 ast continues strong play for last game. when he is on, it makes for easy wins as I have another kick out option. If he is not hitting it makes it tough to get on a roll with only Parsons and Calathes
Speights 12 pts 7 rebs
Tyus 11 pts 8 rebs 3 asts 2 steals

For whatever reason I cannot play with Dan Werner at all.. In real life he starts for teh Gators but I cannot but a basket with him. Hopefully it is just a severe slump and things pick up soon.

I will update quest for triple double and road to 1000 points every 5 games.

Don't all of the teams have "real" players?

What is a "real" player to you?

"Real" players meaning not computer generated recruits. Florida is very young so all the real life players will be around for a few seasons. When going through their rosters none of the players are listed as having NBA draft potential so none of them should be leaving after only a yr or two.

I plan on changing the names of my recruits after yr 1 to match the players Florida has already signed in real life.

Record 6-2

Game was ugly in 1st half with Gators up 49-25. Calathes had 4 pts 7 reb 7 ast in 1st half. I tried to put my bench in to start 2nd half and get them some mins but again the lack of post depth hurt me. Jacksonville got to within 12 and I had to put the starters back in to close it out. Calathes finished with 12 pts 10 rebs 11ast (2nd triple double of season). Hodge continued his good stretch of games with 13 pts (3-5 3s) and 5 ast

Dan Werner is still stuggling I dont know what it is but I cant make anything with him not even layups. He had 6 pts on 2-7 shooting off bench. I even tried giving him a pep talk before game. Any tips??

I did get a commitment from the #1 SG (#4 overall) prospect in the county.
Vili Conley 6-3 208 lbs from California.
A+ potential He is also A- in shooting so that will help fit in my philosphy of play with this team. Going after post players with other sch. I have left.

Florida A&M has to be the worst team I have ever played on this game. They have no size or shooters. At halftime I was up 42-17 and then slowed the pace and got the bench in during 2nd half. Calathes had a horrible game which really hurts the quest for triple double avg. ended up with 4 pts 7 rebs 10ast.
