Note- Kevin Evans is actually myself (my last name isn't Evans). Don't worry, I am a 70 overall, so no, I won't be padding my stats. And since the AHL doesn't allow junior aged players, my age (21) is fictional. I'm 18

Toronto Maple Leafs Lines For Pre-Season Game 1]

The Toronto Maple Leafs will be taking the ice without most of its star players. The team mixed the lines up, as three non-roster invitees will play together on one line. Young netminder Justin Pogge will be given the start, with Curtis Joseph to back him up.

The team is going to give Mikhail Grabovski a chance to shine on the first line. He'll be partnered with Justin Williams and Alex Steen.

The three non-roster invitees all have something in common with the Sabres. Geoff Sanderson played 2 1/2 seasons in Buffalo, while Francois Methot and Artem Kryukov were Sabres draft selections. Methot played three years with the Sabres former AHL team, the Rochester Americans while Kryukov was the Sabres first round draft choice in 2000.

Here are the Maple Leafs lines for tonights game.
Justin Williams- Mikhail Grabovski- Alex Steen
Alexei Ponikarovsky- Jiri Tlusty- Ben Ondrus
Geoff Sanderson- Francios Methot- Artem Kryukov
Jeff Blake- Dominic Moore- Niklas Hagman

    Pavel Kubina- Tomas Kaberle
    Carlo Colaiacovo- Ian White
    Staffan Kronwall- Mike Van Ryn

    Justin Pogge
    Curtis Joseph

pretty good job man, but I would recommend putting Curtis Joseph as your starter and what happened to Vesa Toskala??

It's preseason, he's probably not wasting Toskala in teh preseason games.

Playstation 3. And Cheektowaga is a very nice place to live. Nice to see someone who was also from there.

And I realized someone else asked my question. I already figure him as the starter. So I'm looking to get a good feel for other players, seeing how I can control them.

Wrapup: Leafs give it to Sabres, 3-1.

(since this isn't regular season, this will be quick):

Justin Pogge's 26 saves along with goals by Niklas Hagman and Alexei
Ponikarovsky helped the Leafs take the first of five preseason games with a 3-1 victory in front of 17,652 at HSBC Arena.

                Ron Wilson's impressions on players
                • Pogge was very solid, and is making a push as a possible backup option for Toskala. I'll be looking into giving him another start before the preseason ends to see what he can do.
                • I think for the start of the season, I will want to break up the pairing of Tomas and Pavel. Their mainly offensive defenseman, and are prone to mistakes.
                • Francois Methot impressed me. Surprised to see how little of a chance he has received in the NHL.
                • Dominic Moore is very good at faceoffs, and was money in his own end. He should earn a spot on this roster.
                • I would have liked to see more out of Jeremy Williams. I think he has potential to become a second line NHL forward, but isn't showing it.
                • I'm going to let David Shantz start the next contest. He's pushing for playing time in the AHL, and he needs to impress.

                Next Game's Lines

Ryan Hollweg- Curtis Brown- Martin Kariya
Jeremy Williams- Boyd Deveraux- Jamal Mayers
Colin Murphy- Michael Ryan- Shane Willis
Michel Leveille- Matt Stajan- Artem Kryukov

                Mike Van Ryn- Ian White
                Staffan Kronwall- Jeff Finger
                Kevin Evans- Josef Boumedienne

                David Shantz

Islanders Slap an L on the Leafs. First Round of Cuts occur.

It wasn't a fuzzy feeling inside the Air Canada Centre, as the Leafs drop their first preseason game, a 3-1 loss against the New York Islanders in front of a sold out crowd. Doug Weight had a goal and an assist, and Artem Kryukov scored the lone Leafs goal in the final minute of the game.

                    Overall Thoughts from Ron Wilson.
                    • Artem Kryukov impresses me a lot. Good shot, and he's showing the potential that made him a first. He'll be stick around camp for a while.
                    • I was not impressed with David Shantz. He better hope a dismal performance by CuJo or Mezin occurs, or he'll be on the chopping block.
                    • Jamal Mayers showed why we got him. Solid penalty killer overall.
                    • Evans impressed me with his physical play. He still needs work overall, but he is worth a spot with the Marlies.
                    • Van Ryn impresses me too. He'll be on the Leafs.

                    First Round Of Cuts

With 52 men in Camp, It's expected that the team expected to keep 42 players. The first four cuts are in, via Cliff Fletcher.

                    David Ling, RW
                    Bruno St. Jacques, D
                    Michel Leveille, LW
                    Martin Kariya, RW

All four men were released into the free agent pool and can be picked up by any team. Six-Eight more cuts are expected.

It's gonna get better once I actually start the regular season. And SabresKing, no problem. I like reading other dynasties, and I enjoy GoldenJet's dynasty too. His is well done.

Oh yeah, Updato (this is what happens when I get excited for a game, I play it all day)

Leafs Give Yaroslavl a Rude Canadian Welcome

Besides the booing of Alexei Yashin, the reaction to Yaroslavl coming here was normal. Geoff Sanderson scored two goals, and Jeff Finger added two assists as the Leafs defeated the russian foes 3-1 in front of a packed crowd at Air Canada Centre.

                          Ron Wilson's Notes
                          • Jeff Finger was nothing short of excellent. Him, Van Ryn, Kaberle, and Kubina will be exciting to watch this season.
                          • I really like the effort of Geoff Sanderson. It's really tough to decide on what to do with him. He's looking like his old self.
                          • Besides a couple of lapses, Mezin did ok. But he may need a re-eveulation soon by the club.
                          • Staffan Kronwall is making a case to be the sixth defenseman on this club, and he's played in all 3 games so far.
                          • To Note- Sanderson had 2 goals and an assist.

                              Leafs Make Two Moves

                              Canadian Press

The Toronto The Toronto Maple Leafs addressed there right wing depth by acquiring Edmonton Oilers enforcer Zach Stortini in exchange for Left Winger Alexei Ponikarovsky as the team felt they needed to move in a different direction.

General Manager Cliff Fletcher said the team lacked toughness on forward, and the trade for Stortini would benefit the Leafs while clearing up room under the salary cap.

The 22-Year old Stortini played in 66 games last season for the Oilers, chipping in 12 points and 201 Penalty Minutes. He was selected with the 94th selection in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

Ponikarovsky, 28, is coming off a 35 point campaign. He has two years remaining on his deal which is worth $2.1 million per season.

The team also moved Left Winger Ryan Hollweg to Minnesota in exchange for prospect Danny Irmen. The 23-Year old spent last season with the Houston Aeros of the AHL, scoring 10 goals and adding 13 assists in 77 games. He'll start the season with the Marlies.
