    San Diego Chargers (NFL 2K5)

Just put my Copy of NFL 2K5 in my 360 for an NFL fix and I forgot how I loved the game.Decided to start up a Franchise. Don't have Updated rosters Cause I don't have a Transfer kit, but Figured WTF, why not. Looked at rosters and picked the charges cause not very good but pieces are there to build upon.

Never did a dynasty thread before so I'm kinda new at this, but figured give me a shot. G/F left and I had to lick my wounds and move back home to get back on my feet, will have plenty of free time so why not occupy it with a game.

Well after looking over my roster My D has some trouble spots, going to be a fun season there. Hope for no injuries.

On Offense I have LT, O young low Rated Gates, and the Brees/Rivers QB Controversy. Will see how that plays out, plan on giving PT to both of them see who fits my playing style better.

    Schedule
    1 At Texans
    2 vs Jets
    3 At Broncos
    4 vs Tennesse
    5 vs Jacksonville
    6 At Falcons
    7 At Panthers
    8 vs Oakland
    9 vs Saints
    10 BYE
    11 At Oakland
    12 AT Chiefs
    13 vs Denver
    14 vs Tampa
    15 At Cleveland
    16 At Colts
    17 vs Chiefs

Not too hard, but not a cakewalf either. I'd say a middle of road Schedule, but never know what will happen after 16 weeks. I'm hoping for best, but havent played in awhile so who knows. Will play a few exibition games to get back into feel of things.

I will play 8 minute quarters and custom sliders.

    Bring on the Texans.

Re: San Diego Chargers (NFL 2K5)

Well Week one is in the books. We played well and the Texans, besides not being very good shot themselves in the foot more times than they didn't. Ended up being a one sided affair with me getting the 34-14 victory.

On the Defensive side we played well at times and at times gave up huge chunks of yardage. I got 6 turnovers, 5 of those of interceptions, but I can't expect that every game so got some holes to fill. Still some questions in the air about that. We also came away with 4 sacks, but that was due to us getting ahead and Houston became one-dimentional. We blitzed Carr constantly and had consistent pressure. Even if he wasn't sacked he was either hit as he threw or pressured into hurring his throws. I was happy to see that. Wasn't happy to see inconsistent play from my front seven in other areas though. We were hit or miss on run coverage but they didn't run enough to get a true feel for how we play the run. I figure next game will be more of a challenge and will tell me more.

Offensively I dunno, we could'nt run very well because my line lacked the initial push to get running lanes. I kept at it cause everytime I was about to give up we would get a nice run. But too many 1-2 yard gains. It also ate up huge chunks of clock and with all the turnovers Houston had, TOP was extremely one sided. Passing game was much better, as we were consistent. nothing grand, but no big mistakes either. O-Line gave up 3.5 sacks so that needs a lil work. Had 1 Interception but that was a Hail mary at the half so can't really complain about that one. Brees played very well and I decided to go with the hot hand all game and if he keeps playing well, Might hafta scrap that plan of giving both him and rivers PT.

Overall It was a good victory on the road but its still the Texans. We will see next game as it will be more of a challenge.

Re: San Diego Chargers (NFL 2K5)

Week 2 was a much better indicator about where we are as a team. Jets are much better than the Texans and it showed. Turnovers were also way down, so thats always going to make a game harder. Might need to change the gameplan up a lil too, not performing in certain areas the way I thought we would. It looked like it was going to be one of those shootout games early, but after halftime it turned into a defensive struggle with only 2 fg by me after halftime. Ended up pulling it out 27-14.

NY got ahead early on a Curtis Martin TD run. He turned the corner and and just outran the defense for an 68yd. TD run. We came right back and I hit Dyson who beat the corner and with no Safety help I hit him in stride for a 71yd. TD. BTW I love Maximum Passing. after playing NCAA 09 for awhile, 2K's version is much better & polished. Can actually put right amount of touch on balls. Loft it over LB, Lead WR in or out, etc. Just feel more in control. SO after Another Martin TD run I got the ball back and drove down the field and hit Parker with a fade in back of endzone to tie it up. After we got a Int. by Ben Leber, We drove up the field trying to score before the half. I hit Dyson on a slant with 2 seconds left to go into the half 21-14. After halftime we got the second half kickoff and had a nice drive going, but it stalled at the end. Gates dropped a wide open pass on 3rd down that frustrated me, but it happens. Kicked a FG and was happy to be up 2 possesions. after stopping NY on a 4th and inches in the red zone, once again drove only to have a drive stall out. missed 2 FG's during the next couple drives and they missed one also. Hed a mean crosswind going during the game that make kicking a challenge. Got a late FG in the 4th that was a chip shot but I had lead late, no need to go for it at that point. All in all It was a good game and after 2 Games I am suprised my D hasn't given up more big plays and also got as many turnovers as they have.

On Offense the running game is still not where I want it to be. Need better blocking or I'll never see a 100 yd game. I'm averaging less than 3 yds a carry for the season, and that won't do. Need to be a lil bit more than that. Just seems like even though we are passing well they just won't let LT do much of anything. Even if I do get some blocking its not exactly like the red sea parting.I just can't seem to get those running lanes to open up. Seems there is always a guy in the way of getting even a decent run going.Passing is still going strong, Need a second WR though, cause Dyson was on fire in first half, but after some double coverage he was completely shut down in second half. Nothing against Tim Dwight or Eric Parker, but I just need higher caliber WR. Gates had an average game again, but he is rated low and just cant get the seperation he needs or he won't hold onto the ball when I need him to. Brees is playing extremely Well so Rivers is stuck with a clipboard for now, if it aint broke don't fix it is my theory.

On D, we are playing well. Another game with some turnovers caused my front 7. Getting consistent Pressure and sacking QB and putting other team into passing downs. Also forcing other QB's to force throws because of the pressure and they are erratic or offline. Also love that in NCAA 09 that just don't happen. Secondary getting lit up a lil bit from time to time, but also getting turnovers, so I'll take some bad coverage on 3rd as long as its not too often. If we can continue to get pressure, not give up any big plays, keep getting TO's Ill take it. I know it won't last all season but it feels good when everything works like it should.

Well Denver next game and its in denver so we will see how that one goes.
