Horned Frogs Try To Reclaim Top-25 Status

    OFFENSIVE PREVIEW
TCU's offense is lead by senior running back Aaron Brown. Look for the offense to go to him several times during the game. There are concerns that the workload he will endure could lead to injury, so a lot of pressure with be on Andy Dalton to step up and provide the air attack.

New Mexico Shuts Down Horned Frogs
Lobos defense plays better in a showdown.

The Horned Frogs lose their season opener on the road in New Mexico. "That wasn't how we want to lose games," head coach CF said after the game. There was a combined 400 yards of total offense in the game, and TCU won that battle by getting 241 yards.

"Their defense made the big plays by getting those picks in the first half," CF said in the press conference afterwards, "and then they did what they had to do by scoring off of those turnovers. Give our defense credit, they forced the Lobos to five, count 'em, five three and outs in the fourth quarter and our offense couldn't capitalize."

A big blow came for TCU when SR wide receiver Walter Bryant left the game in the 1st quarter. Bryant is Dalton's favorite target, and without him in the game all TCU has is a group of SO that have to step up. Bryant will miss the next two games due to a strained back.

TCU might be down about the game, but there's a very good chance they bounce back with their game next week against Stephen F. Austin.

Stephen F. Austin No Match For TCU
Offense wakes up, Horned Frogs pick up win #1.

It might not have been against a great team, but this is exactly what TCU needed after the opening loss to New Mexico. They controlled the game in every aspect, and won in convincing fashion.

The Horned Frogs' defense played another flawless game, not allowing SFA to move the ball at all.

Aaron Brown also stole the show. He was pulled from running back duties after the 1st half was over, but went on to return two punts for touchdowns in the 2nd half. One of them was for a school record 84 yards. In all he returned 11 punts for 401 yards. Add 9 carries for 62 yards with a touchdown AND two catches for 27 yards and you have yourself a hell of a game.

Other notes from the game was the back-up quarterback situation. Coming into the game Marcus Jackson was the easy favorite, but after his effort that might change. He only completed one pass on four attempts, and that play lost 4 yards. That's the good unfortunately, as two of the passes were picked off. Andy Bohlig did extremely well after Jackson was benched.

The Horned Frogs are now preparing for next weeks game against the Stanford. The Cardinals come into Ft. Worth fresh off of an upset of now #25 Arizona St.

Stanford Falls Apart in 2nd Half
Horned Frogs score 13 in the 4th to win again in the pouring rain.

TCU improves to 2-1 on the season after beating the Stanford Cardinals at home this weekend. It was another defensive battle due thanks to some very poor conditions because of heavy rain.

Despite the final score, Stanford controlled almost the entire game. TCU's only points in the first half came off of a field goal which they had recovered a fumble on the Stanford 9 yard line.

The Horned Frogs big play came with 3:05 left in the 4th quarter when SR running back Aaron Brown broke a 56 yard run for a touchdown to take the lead. Brown missed part of the 2nd and 3rd quarter due to an ankle injury.

Coach CF hopes to win an important rivalry game next week so that his Horned Frogs can continue their winning ways for their trip to Oklahoma.

I like it so far, I thought about doing a dynasty with TCU, but I chose Baylor instead (I hope to start my thread soon). I have a question for you though. Since I have a team in Texas I'm only going to recruit kids from Texas, are you doing this too?

For the most part yes. There were a couple positions that I needed that I had very little chance of getting a player from Texas, so I had to go the surrounding states (Oklahoma and Louisiana).
