Re: First of its kind...a NASCAR Thunder 2003 Dynasty...

The Week starts out good. Qualifying went well, my speed was only good enough for 9th fastest. Which means we have to enter the Gatorade 125's.

The plus side of this, is that we can improve our starting position to as high as 3rd or 4th.

Downside is...we could start dead last.

            Summary on the Gatorade 125:
The Green flag drops, on a sunny Daytona Thursday, and the feild is off. Starting off 5th, I can see both parts of the feild...the leaders...and the celler dwellers.

By the back stretch, were in 7th. Slow get up..but thats just our engine problem, that we hope to fix in R & D soon.

Its a short race, only 5 laps. I find myself batteling with Jamie McMurray and Dale Jr for the 6th spot in the race. Using the draft, we are trying to catch up to 5th place Jeff Burton.

We do, and we find out that Ryan Newman was just ahead of him, so using a crafty move, I slide out of the draft, to get under the #27. And using the draft of the 99 to pull me through. I gain 6th place. THe draft also pulls me past Ryan Newman, and I now sit in 5th place, with Dale Jr. sitting behind me, and Jeff Burton in front of me.

Using another craftey move, the Sling shot move, I gain 4th place away from Burton.

Final lap, Dale Jr. uses the sling shot move on me, to gain 4th away. I just ride behind him untill the Checkards, I finish 5th.

Sterling Marlin Won this race, so he will start either 3rd or 4th (cant remember which race this was, #1 or #2).

            Next up, the daytona 500.

"And the home.......OF THEEEEEEE....BRAAAAAAVVVVVVVEEEEE" is heard over the PA system. The Usual Fly over, and then, they come to live

43, 800 horsepower Machines of Speed fire to life.

The pace laps are a blur, I start inside row 5, 9th place.

The Green flag.....and now the pedal is down, to the floor.

A few cars get past me on the start, so im riding in 13th by the back stretch...Damn Engine.

By the backstretch again on lap 2, I am up to 10th. Once the engine gets wound up...she's pretty good. There is a gap between 9th and me..So I ride here comfortably for a while.

The car is handeling great, Im just turning the wheel enough in the corners...the Banking feels like your racing against a building.

At lap 6, I notice the dots in my front window are getting larger, as im about 2 seconds and gaining, behind 9th and 8th place. all happening 6 seconds behind the leader Dale Jarret though.

"Your right front's wearin down, keep an eye on it" Says my crew cheif, almost awakening me from my racing Daze. 7 laps in...and the right front is wearing out...Im drivin too hard.

He's right, now when I drive it into the turns...it slides up a bit, and I dont like that lol. Now the debating with myself starts...2 tires or 4

4 gets me the ability to drive my car like I want...but 2 gets me position.

                With an in-experianced crew...i fear 4 tires.

As I pass by on lap 9, I report in "Comin in next time boys, 2 tires, 2 TIRES!!!!!"

Lap 10, I slide the car onto pit road..the boys go to work, 2 tires.

I almost expect a mistake....and it happens. A lug fell off Costing us valuable time.

I came in 10th, and after everything cycles out, I end up 11th...even when I try to gain, I loose lol.

Lap 15, Riding in 11th, basically all alone. The cars behind me are too far back to be in my draft, and im too far behind the cars ahead of me to get a draft.

Lap 17, after a scrape with the wall....Mark Martin catches up to me, and passes me for 11th. I get directly behind him and catch the draft...I now realize a lap later...that we have many positions infront of me, there for the taking..

Time to use some Rookie Brashness..

Final lap, white flag...I dive under Mark for 11th, and See the #46 car up the track as well, so I put my nose down there, and get 10th

Using the draft from Rusty, I get up to 9th, by passing him, by having him picked behind a slow car.

I ride there, untill the Checkards. I finish 9th place, while Dale Jarret wins the race, with Dale Jr. right behind him in 2nd.

                Post Race Awards next.

                            Subway 400.

After qualifying 31st, we had some work to do. We were torn between, we like the setup, and I really like the setup, but it seems to be slow.

once again, me and the team have blamed it on our engine, and how it isnt up to snuff, but R&D is working on it, and in 2 more races, we'll have the power we need.

Untill then, were just gonna deal with it.

                            GREEN FLAG, and were off!!

The first 2 laps are pretty hectic, with bumping and grinding going on all around. I try to get into a nice rythem, but its hard with 30 other cars infront of you.

We have made no progress in 2 laps, but its slowly changing..going the opposite way, were sitting in 32nd, with not a happy driver.

"This will be a long 39 laps" I report to the crew.

A few laps after that, I start forcing my way through the field. Moving up to the 30th place. But the car just isnt feeling fast. Feels like a rock through a moving river. but somehow, I move up to the 29th spot.

I still wonder wonder just what its gonna take to get this car competitve.

Lap 19, were in to pit. The car ends up not wanting to turn in the end of the run...theres nothin we can do about that, its the tire wear. ...

To add to my"Good" day, we have a 19 second pitstop on pit road...I think we had another accident on the stop

I came in 29th...I come out 41st, ouch..

And now...the car just DOESNT want to turn at all, with the fresh goodyear eagles.

now, im just moving out of the way of the leaders, as I sit dead last in the field, 1 lap down.

"When is this supposed to get fun?" I report into my crew.

                            ...no responce again.

Some excitement, on lap 28. Caution off of turn 2. As cars slow up...I dive to the apron, and pick up a few spots

                            I now ride in 38th

"That was pretty cool" i report to the crew.

But...on diving to the apron, something doesnt feel right, so we pit.

Basically giving up everything we just did.

But, we now have some adjustments into the car, and fix our damage over the race.

Come back, 42nd. But with the field all bottlenecked together, it allows me to pick off some people, who definantly were slower than WE were.

I now ride in 37th, still 1 lap down, still better than 42nd, so were starting to feel happy.

Using some more rookie braveness (or is it stupidity, I havnt figured it out yet) I gain 2 more spots, and im up to 35th.

I am able to pass 2 more cars, and finish the race in 33rd.

Basically drawing even on our weekend.

Were just happy to get the hell out of here frankly, and go to a track that we like. out in Las Vegas.

Post race results and stuff next.
