    Blue Ribbon Analysis:
    NC State

    Summary: In the off-season, Sidney Lowe and his team worked on its conditioning and its chemistry. They believe this season has a better chance of mirroring 2007(when they won 20 games), than last season(when they finished last in the ACC).

        Coach: Sidney Lowe

        Lowe was the point guard during the 1983 National Title run for the Wolfpack. He is in his 3rd year and looks to make up for a bad season the year before.

        Lowe plays a Half-Court style tempo, and really focuses on set plays and good ball movement.

        Starting Lineup:
        C- Ben McCauley
        PF- Brandon Costner
        SF- C.J. Williams
        SG- Courtney Fells
        PG- Farnold Degand

        Bench:
        SF Dennis Horner
        PG Javi Gonzalez
        SG Trevor Ferguson
        PF Tracy Smith
        SF Simon Harris
        PG Julius Mays
        SG Johnny Thomas

                    -------------------------NCSU 79 UNO 58-----------------------

                    North Carolina State began the season against the team that many people in Raleigh believed killed their season last year as they visited the University of New Orleans. "Redemption, thats what we want." said senior captain Ben McCauley. New Orleans came into the RBC Center last year and upset the Wolfpack on a last second buzzer beater.

                    Well this game was a little different. New Orleans managed to hang in the game for most of the first half but NC State pulled away as the game went on.

                    Production from everyone played a big factor. Courtney Fells and Brandon Costner led the team in scoring, both putting up 16 points. Tracy Smith was big off the bench, scoring 10 points and grabbing 4 rebounds.

                    Kyndall ****s tried his best to keep the New Orleans close but their was no chance.

                    NC State Notables:
                    -Ben McCauley 6pts 9rebs 5ast
                    -Brandon Costner 16pts 6rebs
                    -Courtney Fells 16pts 1reb
                    -Tracy Smith 10pts 4rebs

                    -----------------------------HPU 68 NCSU 76------------------------------

                    NC State was in a battle as they took on the High Point Panthers. Just hours after a huge win in football, many fans filled the legendary Reynolds Coliseum to watch this game and see if the basketball team could carry the momentum gained from that football game.

                    Early on, High Point jumped out to a 9 point lead on 3 different occasions as they were deadly from behind the arc. But as NC State settled into their offensive sets, they managed to take the lead at halftime 35-30.

                    NC State got on a run early in the second half and opened the lead up to 12 points, but then went cold from the field allowing the Panthers to claw back into the game.

                    High Point was led by their star point guard Eugene Harris and managed to pull within 3 points late in the second half. The tension in the arena could be cut with a knife, until Redshirt Junior Brandon Costner made a big jumper while being fouled to give the Wolfpack a commanding 8 point lead.

                    The lead stood as the Wolfpack opened up their season with a 2-0 record. McCauley was huge late getting offensive rebounds and making key passes to open teammates.

                    NC State Notables:
                    Ben McCauley 14pts 12rebs 3ast
                    Brandon Costner 22pts 10rebs 3ast
                    Courtney Fells 15pts 6ast
                    Javi Gonzalez 7pts 1ast

                    Upcoming: The Wolfpack will remain home for two more games before heading to Bobcats Arena to match up with the Davidson Wildcats. The Winthrop Eagles come to town on November 25th as the Wolfpack look to push their record to 3-0.

                      Pack Pride Recruiting Corner.

                      NC State has targeted 6 prospects as possible suitors for Sidney Lowe next season. The name that jumps out would be 5-star power forward Lucius Burt from Wvmona, Minnesota.

                      We had a scout out at his last game and the scout reports that Burt could be a nice defensive boost for the lineup but needs to work on his offensive game. Also could be a candidate for leaving after one year.

                      NC State's Target List:
                      * * * * * PF Lucius Burt
                      * * * * SG Ben Flowers
                      * * * * PG Jean Frierson
                      * * * * * PF Ben Lockhart
                      * * * * * C Jared Mills
                      * * * * PF Aaron Woodard

                          Lounging With Coach Lowe

                          Every week will have an interview with head coach Sidney Lowe to address the state of the Wolfpack ball club.

                          Reporter: "Coach Lowe, must have been nice to defeat New Orleans after last year, what did you think of your team while down in the Louisiana."

                          Lowe: "Well what happened last year was over, I was glad to see a whole team effort by the boys. Fells and Costner played nice and we ran the offense the way I wanted to."

                          Reporter: "How is Degand progressing after his serious injury last year?"

                          Lowe: "Farnold will be wearing a brace right now to make sure his leg is okay. Also, I will probably give him more rest and play Javi more early in the season until Farnold can take on a full load of work."

                          Reporter: "In the High Point game, the Wolfpack made a lot of costly turnovers that almost costed them the game, have you worked on this during practice?"

                          Lowe: "I am glad you brought that up. The boys were pretty much just throwing it all over the court with no regard, and High Point just benefited off of that. I told Farnold, Javi and Julius that the burden is on them to make the smart passes when running the offense, no need to force the issue."

                          Reporter: "Coach you have the perennial Big South powerhouse Winthrop coming to Raleigh on Tuesday. Do you have any plans on how to defend the high-low style offense that they play?"

                          Lowe: "Well it will be on the big men to get out and guard the bigs when they try to run that set. We have athletic forwards, they just need to do their jobs and play smart."

                          Reporter:"Thank you Coach Lowe for your time."
