    AP-Riverside, CA
    Marktg30

UC Riverside has named a new Head Coach, L.T. Hammer. At the age of 25 he is nearly the same age as some of his senior players. Fortunately, this will not be an issue as he has instituted a contract of respect with every player that they must sign before showing up to the first practice.

The UCR student body already has signs along the street saying "Its Hammertime!". Here's hoping he can bring some victories to Riverside. It will be an achievement just to finish above .500 this season.

His coach ratings according to ESPN are:

    C Overall
    C Offense
    C+ Defense
    C- Teaching
    C- Scouting
    C+ Charisma
    C- Discipline

Highlanders Pull Off Upset In Iowa City!

Led by Henrik Thomsen's 16 points and 4 Steals, the UCR Highlanders held on for a 62-60 victory over heavily favored Iowa State.

It started rough for Point Guard Justin Lott, who shot 31% from the field. However, his 3 assists in the 2nd half proved to be vital in is first game as a starter.

ISU was led by Corey McIntosh's 20 points and 6 assists. He hit a 3 with 1.1 second left and then forced an errant pass by UCR that gave ISU one final shot. Fortunately for the Highlanders, Cyclone SF Cory Johnson missed the 18 footer as the final horn sounded.
