Four games into my AHL career, and things are going ok. I've scored twice, made some hits, took some penalties, a few bad ones too. The one thing that bother's me is my +/-. Right now, I'm -4. I've got to work on my defensive game for sure.
My leg hasn't been too bad. There is pain, but it's tollerable. It isn't constant. Matt Siddall and I have got an apartment now, I'm getting ready to head home when coach Granato calls me into his office.
Granato: "Sit down Larry"
Me: "What's up coach?"
Granato: "Not your +/-, that's for sure"
Me: "Uh, yeah I know coach, I'm working on it..."
Granato: "Listen kid, that ain't why I called you in here. You might have noticed this team is having some trouble scoring. Well, I seem some potential in you. Aside from Pospisal, you seem to be the best player on the team with regards to create offense. So, I'm bumping you up to the second line with Pospisal and Stuart."
Me: "Excellent, thanks coach!"
Granato: "Don't thank me yet...you now have more pressure on you to produce. This isn't a permanent move...if you don't produce, you'll be back on the third line again."
Me: "Understood sir! Thanks again!"
Granato: "Ok, now get outta here. And get that damn +/- back on the right side for chrissakes!"
