12/19/06: The Bears Fall to 5-4 With An Embarrassing Loss to Bowling Green, Have Lost Four of Five
This latest cold stretch has gotten many people wondering whether Coach Hoese's 4-0 start was nothing more than beginners luck.

Bowling Green jumped out to an 8 point lead early, and led by an amazing 60-34 at the half as the Bears could do nothing to stop them from scoring. With such a large halftime lead, Bowling Green coasted to victory 90-67, shooting 33-58 from the field, 9-19 from three point range.

Coach Hoese had this to say: "Our guys just didn't have it tonight in the first half. Every year there will be at least one game where your team comes out flat, and I'm just glad that it happened now instead of in the finals of the conference tournament, which we will be making this year, by the way. I've already put it behind me and I am looking ahead to our matchup at E. Michigan.

The Northern Colorado Bears (6-4) defeated E. Michigan (5-5) Thursday. The game got off to an extremely slow start, with very little scoring in the first five minutes as the Bears had the early lead 3-2. The scoring picked up slightly for the remainder of the half, and the Bears took a 24-19 lead into the break behind Jackette's 7 first half points on 3-8 shooting.

The Bears came out of halftime on a tear, going on a 10-3 run to start the half and forcing the E. Michigan coach to call a timeout trailing 34-22 with 15 minutes to play. The Bears stalled for the next five minutes, allowing E. Michigan to narrow the gap to 34-28 with a 6-0 run of their own.

That was the closest that E. Michigan would get, however, and a steal followed by a fast break dunk from Jackette pushed the lead to 41-31. The Bears never looked back after that, and cruised to a 49-38 victory.

Next Game: Saturday 12/23 vs. #15 Air Force (9-2)
Expert's Pick: Air Force wins comfortably. Bears fall to 6-5 entering conference play.
