    VS
    PLAYOFFS ROUND 1

    GM 1:
Knowing that we would have to be on all cylinders to get out of the first round without T-Mac, we come out of the gate on fire hitting every shot. Our hot streak extends through the 2nd quarter but go through a 5 minute drought that puts us down 38 - 48 at the half.

We start the 2nd half quite sluggish then Battier gets us started with a huge three from the corner that puts us back in the game. We go on a 22 - 7 run that gets the game tied up at 80 to start the 4th quarter.

Yao Ming takes over in the 4th & the Hornets refuse to double him. After about 5 minutes of dominance by "the Great Wall", Byron Scott finally decides to start doubling him but it is far too late as it only opens up our 3 point game.

The Rockets roll to victory 102 - 88

    Player of the Game

    Yao Ming

    24 points
    13 rebounds
    4 assists
    4 blocks

Re: "THE RETURN OF CLUTCH CITY: A HOUSTON ROCKETS DIARY"

      VS
      PLAYOFFS ROUND 1
      0 - 1

      GM 2:
We start out the 1st quarter feeding Yao down low but Chandler locked down the paint for the first 5 minutes of the game. Our jumpers just weren't seeming to fall either so it made the whole first quarter a struggle. Thanks to Artest's 8 trips to the freethrow line, we escape the first quarter with a 22 - 21 lead.

Second quarter begins and Kyle Lowry is shredding the Hornet's defense to shreds. There is jut no answer for his penetration with Chandler out of the game. Lowry gives us 8 off of the bench while Scola gave us quality minutes while Yao got a break. We went into half-time up 48 - 42.

The third quarter begins and it is immediately apparent that Chris Paul doesn't want to let this game get away. He hits Chandler with an alley-oop to score the first bucket of the second half. It all went down hill from there as we went on one of our imfamous "cold streaks". If it had not been for Yao getting some easy buckets in the paint, the Hornets would have ran away with it. We close out the third down 74 - 67.

The fourth quarter begins with much of the same... Chris Paul running wild dropping dimes for everyone on his team while we can't manage to hit the broadside of a barn. The fourth quarter was not much fun to watch at all. Yao scores 34 in a valiant effort but we fall to the Hornets 101 - 88

      Player of the Game

      Chris Paul

      22 points
      13 assists
      4 steals

i accidentally simulated the entire first round so can't go into detail with the playoffs since it goes straight through BUT i wanted to start this dynasty from the 2009 offseason on forward anyways.

so i will start from here:

after we lost game 2 we never seemed to get our stride back. the next 3 games were lost by an average of 12 points.

                2009 DRAFT

                TOP 5 DRAFT PICKS
                1 - Blake Griffin (WAS)
                2 - Jordan Hill (MEM)
                3 - Hasheem Thabeet (NY)
                4 - Demar Derozan (TOR)
                5 - Jeff Teague (SAC)

                *** NOTABLES ***
                7 - B.J. Mullens (TOR)
                9 - Al-Farouq Aminu (OKC)
                11 - Stephen Curry (DAL)
                16 - Tyler Hansbrough (IND)
                28 - DeJuan Blair (LAL)

                ROUND 1
                26 - Robert Vaden
(drafting a shooter that should help the void at SG. T-Mac is likely out until Dec-Jan of rest season and Brent Barry will likely be less useful so he will be a great young prospect as a scoring option)

                ROUND 2
                26 - Chris Sampay
(drafting a big banging PF that will be a bit of a project. as long as Joey Dorsey developes in the off-season, Sampay should be a serviceable back-up option with size. good rebounder for 6'10" & good post D, everything else will be a work-in-progress)

Re: "THE RETURN OF CLUTCH CITY: A HOUSTON ROCKETS DIARY"

                  2009 OFFSEASON

                  • drafted James Harden
                  • signed Chris Wilcox
                  • signed new coach - Jim O'Brien
They are expected to to be right back in the playoff mix with the return ofa healthy Elton Brand & sharp shooting rookie James Harden. They did not lose any significant players.

                  • drafted Ty Lawson
                  • waived Channing Frye

This young team is on the verge of something very special. They will have a strong push as they have not lost any of their nucleus.

                  • signed Jamal Crawford, Kelenna Azibuike & Mikki Moore
                  • released Sean May
                  • drafted Gani Lawal

They are considered the sleeper out East. They surged late last year and only got better this season. They picked up a much needed perimeter threat in Jamal Crawford and drafted an intruiging rookie in Gani Lawal.

                  • signed Sean May
                  • traded Luke Ridnour for Beno Udrih
                  • drafted Patrick Patterson
                  • signed new coach - Scott Skiles

Noone knows exactly what to expect from this team. They were decimated by injuries last season & we still don't know what the identity of this team is, but we do know what Scott Skiles will bring to the table. Hopefuly they will become a more gritty team & develope a defensive mentality.

                  • trade Kurt Hinrich for Kevin Love
                  • drafted Gerald Henderson
                  • signed Sergio Rodriguez

Out of all the young teams on the brink out East, the Bulls have the most promise because of a scintillating Derick Rose & a lot of hustle. As expected, Kurt Hinrich was dispatched at season's end but noone saw the heist that would land the Bulls what they sorely needed- POST OFFENSE. Kevin Love will be a welcome addition.

                  • signed Bruce Bowen
                  • sign & trade Nick Collison, Ben Wallace & 1st round pick 2010 for Antawn Jamison
                  • did not re-sign Anderson Varejao or Wally Szczerbiak

The Cavs are astonished that they did not win the title last year and lost key defensive post presences Ben wallace & Anderson Varejao. They did however, pick up the versatile Antawn Jamison who makes them even more scary offensively. We will have to see how the defensive end holds up.

                  • signed Matt Barnes & Antione Walker

Taking a comment usually addressed to the Spurs - "same team, just a lil older". These aging superstars might be seeing their reign as elite as numbered. With cavs dethroning them in the East and all of the young improving teams chasing quickly, it's hard to tell if additions of only Matt Barnes & a out of shape Antine Walker will keep them at their peek.

                  • drafted Brandon Jennings
                  • did not re-sign Chris Kaman
                  • released Baron Davis
                  • signed Jason Maxiell & Chris Duhon
                  • signed new coach - (rookie coach)

This team can hopefully get some direction and a positive face lift with the departure of Baron Davis & the entrace of a new coach. They decided to let Kaman go freely and we will see how that move pays of for the Clipps who are not known for good player transactions. One bright spot is the drafting of Brandon Jennings and signing of Chris Duhon. Jennings will probably start by the mid-point of the season.

                  • drafted Jordan Hill
                  • signed Shaun Livingston

Still making positive strides, the Grizzlies are still quite a ways away from competing on a "night-in night-out" basis, until they decide who is the number 1 option & decide to play some defense.

                  • signed Stephon Marbury & Channing Frye
The pickup of a veteran ball handler in Marbury and the Channing Frye acquisition should definitely help this team gather themselves and jump back into the playoff scare role.

                  • signed Allen Iverson
We all know that D-Wade can cary a team by himself after carrying the Heat to playoffs last year but the jury is still out on Allen Iverson & what role he will play for this team. Will his ball dominating be a pro or a con if choose to start him at the point guard position?

                  • signed Wally Szczerbiak
                  • sign & trade - Nick Collison for Ben Wallace
                  • did not re-sign Carlos Boozer
                  • Jerry Sloan retired - signed new coach - (rookie coach)

We will get to see if the combination of Deron Williams & Paul Millsap will be just potent as the one involving Carlos Boozer. The loss of Boozer will be huge but possibly not as big as the loss of Utah staple Jerry Sloan.

                  • signed Shawn Marion
                  • traded Beno Udrih for Luke Ridnour
                  • drafted Jeff Teague
                  • signed new coach - Eddie Jordan

Signing Shawn Marion will allow the Kings to run much more because of his versatility & Luke Ridnour should fit right in but the Kings are surley going to back in the lottery race. eddie Jordan has a large task at hand.

                  • signed Baron Davis
                  • drafted Hasheem Thabeet
                  • 3-way trade - received J.J. Barea, Antione Wright, Walter Sharpe, Amir Johnson & Kwame Brown

Apparently, still setting up for this upcoming offseason and the "Bron, Wade, Bosh" sweepstakes, the Knicks shipped off half of the team. No Eddy Curry, no Quentin Richardson, no Nate Robinson, no Chris Duhon. The Knicks did manage to retain David Lee which was goal and they picked up Baron Davis who should be a perfect fit for the D'Antoni system. They also drafted bigman post project Hasheem Thabeet and aquired some decent pieces in a 3-way trade. I'm still convinced that this is the team to watch in 2011... not 2010.

                  • did not re-sign Sasha Vujacic
                  • drafted DeJuan Blair

Kobe still here and glowing after their championship win. The Lakers retained lamar Odom & only lost Vujacic who lost a lot of minutes to the emerging Trevor Ariza. The Lakers will be the favorites to win it all again barring major injury.

                  • drafted Stephen Curry
                  • 3-way trade - received, Eddy Curry & 2010 first round pick
                  • signed Tim Thomas

I believe that this is the team to watch in the West. They seemed to surge during the playoffs, pushing the Hornets to the brink in round 2. They aquire Eddy Curry & lose Erick Dampier which will be an offensive upgrade in the middle as long as Curry can get in shape. They also picked up veteran Tim Thomas & got a steal with the 16th pick in the draft with Stephen Curry.

                  • signed Sasha Vujacic
                  • drafted Earl Clark
                  • 3-way trade - received Mark Blount & Jamaal Tinsley

This exciting young team has a very bright future. The Jamaal Tinsley signing gives them some veteran leadership of the bench and some versatility options. if Vince has a season like last year's, this could be a team to keep your eye on.

                  • George karl retires - signed new coach - (rookie coach)

Not much different here other than Gearge Karl retiring. Last year's excellence was surprising and they will have to prove that it was no fluke.

                  • drafted Tyler Hansbrough
                  • 3-way trade - received Eduardo Najera, Will Bynum & 2010 1st round pick
                  • signed new coach - (rookie coach)
                  • released Jamaal Tinsley

The Pacers finally decided to part ways with jamaal Tinsley and focus on who IS on the court. They should be a much different team if they can just stay healthy. They were very competitive last year in spite of the their diminished roster and of course everyone is wanting to see the outcome of Tyler hansbrough in the NBA.

                  • signed Carlos Boozer
                  • 3-way trade - received Sean Williams, Jarvis Hayes & 2010 2nd round pick
                  • 3-way trade - received Nate Robinson & Erick Dampier
                  • did not re-sign Rasheed Wallace & Allen Iverson

The Piston's made some salary and negative locker room cuts that will surley payoff on the court. Allowing A.I. & Rasheed to walk open the door to signing a younger, just as skilled Carlos Boozer various trades that landed up & coming Nate Robinson, who will be a crowd favorite in Detroit. Good job Joe Dumars... seems like rebuilding only took one year. They did lose young bigs, Amir Johnson & Jason Maxiell but I believe they are in a better seat for the future now.

                  • drafted Demar Derozan & B.J. Mullens
                  • signed Darius Miles
                  • did not resign Anthony Parker
                  • signed new coach - (rookie coach)

The Raptors are still in limbo on if Chris Bosh will be part of the Raptors fuure or not. They did draft well with Demar derozan who should have an immediate impact at the desperately needed SG void for the Raps. The also drafted B.J. Mullens that has all the skills to be an elite center in the league, we just have to see if he is mentally ready.

                  • drafted Robert Vaden

                  Dikembe Mutombo retired

Winning as usual without one of our stars is no problem. Hopefully this season we won't have to play without them at all but with T-Mac coming off of micro-fracture surgey & not expected to be playing agian until December, the Rockets are in a familiar position. hustle & determination is what "Clutch City" was prided on, so hopefully it will get us back to the title.

                  • signed Brandon Haywood
                  • signed Devean George

No key loses... one key aquisition... Brandon Haywood. Not a big pickup to most but huge for the Spurs as they will finally have a couple of good young options down low to take some of the pressure & wear & tear off of Duncan. veteran leadership will keep them in playoff contention.

                  • signed Andrei Kirilenko
                  • signed Morris Almond

The sickness of NOT making the playoffs last year & watching Kobe win his Champion ship had to drive Shaq mad. The Suns got back to "Sun-ball" just a little too late last year & Shaq's fututre with the team is uncertain. They have had a full offseason to get back on track and picked up a utility man in Andrei kirilenlo that can somewhat refill the "unacknowledged" void of letting Shawn Marion leave.

                  • signed Chris Kaman & Flip Murray
                  • drafted Al-Farouq Aminu
                  • signed new coach - (rookie coach)

Kevin had one of the most spectacular years in a losing season that i have ever seen. If he keeps that pace, Westbrook continues to develope and Kaman pickup translates they way it is intended, the Thunder will be well on their way. Many believe that the Thunder were only a productive center away from making some noise.

                  • signed Anderson Varejao
                  • traded for Kevin Love for Kurt Hinrich
                  • drafted sam Young
                  • signed new coach - Maurice Cheeks

The Wolves wre playing some great ball before their "Big Al" went down last season. They shockingly gave up Kevin Love but picked up a very good point guard in Kurt Hinrich that should move Foye to his natural position. They also signed Anderson Varejao to help fill the Love gap and bring some tenacity on D. Jeffersom will only grow and so should the team.

                  • signed Andray Blatche
                  • did not resign Jamal Crawford & Kelenna Azibuike

The Warriors objective in the offseason was size and they picked up Andray Blatche? As exciting as the warriros are to watch & as much as i think Blatche will flourish in this system; i just don't see them making the playoffs with this roster.

                  • drafted Blake Griffin
                  • signed Carlos Defino
                  • sign & trade for Nick Collison & Rasheed Wallace & lost Antawn Jamison
                  • signed new coach - (rookie coach)

Injuries, injuries, injures. the Wiz finally have a healthy Gilbert Arenas & drafted star-to-be Blake Griffin. The Wizards also shipped Jamison to Cleveland in a 3-way sign & trade deal that got them a quality, veteran big in Nick Collison & then turned around and signed for Rasheed Wallace for peanuts. Outcome?... your call is as good as mine.
