    BOSTON RED SOX
    Damon CF
    Nixon RF
    Ramirez LF
    Ortiz 1B
    Garciaparra SS

    Same Lineup as Game 1

    Parris P

    Red Sox 5
    Devil Rays 6

    WP-Parris (1-0)
    LP-Wakefield (0-1)
    SV-Rocker (1)
    HR-Ramirez (1), Nixon (1,2); Hall (1), Grieve (1)
    POG-Grieve-2-4, HR, 2B, 3 RBI

Tim Wakefield was rocked for 6 earned runs in only 3 innings as the Devil Rays pick up their first win of the season despite 2 home runs from Boston's Trot Nixon. John Rocker got his first save in a Tampa uniform, but the Rays will be without one of their second basemen, Damion Easley, for quite some time. Easley went down with torn knee cartilage and is expected to miss 3 months of the season.

    1-1 (T2, 1 GB)

        POG-Ramirez-4-6, HR, 2 2B, 5 RBI

It was all Red Sox as the Boys from Beantown scored in every inning but the ninth and homered of every Tampa pitcher that took the mound. Every Boston hitter had a hit and Derek Lowe gave up only 3 runs on 5 hits for his first win of the season.

            POG-Bierbrodt-9 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 11 K, 0 BB

This has to go down as one of the best pitched games in D'Ray history. 24-year old southpaw, Nick Bierbrodt, outdueled another young southpaw phenom, Casey Fossum, as Tampa salvaged a split in its first series of the season. Julio Lugo got his first start of the season, but went down with a groin pull and will miss 2 weeks.

                Breaking News...

The TAMPA BAY DEVIL RAYS have acquired CF Ken Griffey Jr. along with C Corky Miller from the CINCINNATI REDS for C Toby Hall, 1B Aubrey Huff, RF Ben Grieve, and 5 BP's.

                Tampa Bay Manager Terry Crouch:
"I knew the guys upstairs were trying to get Griff during the offseason, but had no luck." I don't know what changed the Reds minds about letting him go, but, hey, we'll take him!" "Now, if we could just get some pitching..."
