    GAME 1

    Starters:
    MON - Javier Vazquez
    ATL - Greg Maddux

This game was tight from the very beginning, as both teams played extraordinary defense behind spectacular pitching performances. Both offenses came out hitting the ball, but for the most part, were unable to come through with runners in scoring position. As a result, the game ended up going into extra innings, where leadoff man Endy Chavez won the game with an RBI base hit. The Expos won game one of the series, 3-2, in twelve innings.

    WP - Stewart (1-0)
    LP - Hernandez (0-1)
    S - Biddle (1)

    Chavez - 3-6
    Cordero - 2-5, 2 2B, RBI
    Guerrero - 2-5, 2B, SB

    Giles - 3-5
    Castilla - 2-3

          GAME 2

          Starters:
          MON - Orlando Hernandez
          ATL - Mike Hampton

Going into the seventh inning, all was well for Montreal. They had a five run cushion, leading 6-1 over the Braves, and had already had a great day offensively by numerous players. However, when Orlando Cabrera stole 2nd base, and dove head first ( ), he fractured his right arm, and will now be on the DL for 45 days. The Expos still won, by the score of 6-1.

          WP - O. Hernandez (1-0)
          LP - Hampton (0-1)
          HR - Guerrero (1), Wilkerson (1)

          Guerrero - 2-4, HR, 2 RBI
          Wilkerson - 3-4, HR, 3B, 2 RBI

          Giles - 2-4
          C. Jones - 2-4, 2 2B, RBI

Filling in for Cabrera at shortstop will be Henry Mateo

The pitching and defense, for both clubs, was extraordinary in this NL East matchup. Neither pitching staff allowed the opposing offense to get anything generated all evening, making the game go into extra innings. In the top of the 11th, with the score tied at one apiece, Jose Vidro hit a double to the gap, scoring Endy Chavez. Rocky Biddle then came in to shut the door, giving the Expos the 2-1 win.

Very nice franchise thread. I wish I had the money to get WSB2k3. Looks like I just might have to wait until WSB2k4. I still have WSB though, so I still have a baseball game to play.
