Coming to ya from the High Country!

Hey everyone, first ever post on here and I plan to move my Appalachian St. Mountaineers to 1-A as an independent and hopefully get an invite to the ACC or Big East! Once I get the game in my hands this dynasty will officially begin!

Mountaineers name shocking new coach and their intent to move to Division 1 for 2003 Season

Boone, NC - The Appalachian State Mountaineers signed Coach Steve Spurrier and announced their intent to move to Division 1 as an independent program in a surprise press conference today. Appalachian officials were pleasantly shocked to find that Spurrier had been contemplating a return to the college stage for quite sometime. They seized the opportunity and contacted the former University of Florida head coach. Spurrier was quoted as saying "The NFL was not all it was cracked up to be and as soon as Appalachian St. contacted me, I knew the university was a perfect fit. The program has always shown that it is one of the elite in 1-AA football and hopefully I can guide the Mountaineers to their first national championship!" Many believe that Appalachian St. will benefit from themove to Division 1 now that the program had a proven head coach. Teams such as Georgia Southern and Youngstown St have expressed interest in keeping a series going with ASU even though the Mountaineers are no longer a 1-AA squad.

In other news, Appalachian St. plans to announce its 2003 schedule as soon as it finishes discussions with potential opponents. Games that have been confirmed are Georgia Southern, Youngstown St., Hawaii, Kansas, Montana, and UNLV. The rest of the games are TBA.

Thats all for this week folks but stay tuned as it promises to be quite a season in the High Country of North Carolina!
