Notre Dame Head Football Coach Gabe Patterson may not have had the luck of the Irish on the field the past five years, but he may have had it in the administrative offices. After compiling a dismal 24-35 overall record, many Irish faithful were seeking Patterson's head or resignation, but the administration decided to hold on to Patterson. Much of Patterson's stay has been due to his tremendous fundraising and recruiting tactics, better than any Irish coach to date. His defensive coordinator, Lance Austin, has fielded the best defensive unit in the country each of the past five years, which should translate into wins. Unfortunately, offensive coordinator, Juan Fackleman, has fielded the NCAA's worst offense each of the past five years.
