Franchise "House Rules" regarding re-signing players..

here's the situation.. I admit, I've gotten pretty damn good at drafting

I've done several drafts now and can come away with at least, AT LEAST, 3 A-potential players

now, whle that in itself isn't a big deal or a problem.. in 2years, 3 years or so.. those rookies with A potentials will become monsters and basically your team will be stacked.

I'm asking for help from fellow franchisers.. is there certain house rules regarding player re-signings (at the offseason) you adhere to?

I'd like to know what you do in terms of re-signing players/etc that become Free Agents.. this isn't signing FA's mind you. It's your players whose contracts have expired.

    ie:
-you only sign 1 guy above 90..
    or
-you don't sign anyone above 95
    etc

I just need some ideas because if things hold true and I have great drafts after great drafts.. it will lead to a dynasty type run :X

so yea, help on ideas please I'd like to know what YOU do, what your house rules are

Personally, I think eventually you'll run out of cap space if you sign them all. However, I tend to look at my team as a whole. If I've got another young guy waiting in the wings to take over that starting role, then maybe it's not a bad idea to let the older, better overall walk and save cap room.

When it comes to re-signing I don't normally limit myself, but I try to look at exactly what the player has done for the team. For example, the odds of a player like Patrick Willis leaving the Niners right now is slim, if I was to draft a player and he ended up like Willis, the face of the franchise, he's not going to get released unless I have to...

    Make sense?

very good points about cap space

yea, i do the same thing too if I've got a young guy and a veteran i might just not resign the vet and go with the youngblood instead

hmm thanks.. haha honestly i have the CPU doing everything but re-ordering my depth chart

I just turned it to user for RE-Signings because the cpu(aka the gm) signed Donovan to a huge contract and I have plans to go with a rookie QB next season

haha, thank you maybe i don't have to use franchise re-signing rules after all since i was sort-of already using them

well first, don't scout players, draft based on skills like 40 time and bench press. second, sign realistically. resign your star players before their contract expire like they do in real life. also, this is how you manage not signing all of your players. offer them the first deal that the cpu generates, if they reject, u have to release them or something like that. hope it was helpul.
