    "PRACTICE?!?!?!"

    We talkin` bout PRACTICE!

Yeah, A. Cook is doing way better than I thought he would, and he steps up and hits big shots when I need one .. He's only a soph., so I plan on having him for awhile.

The Mideastern Conference squard of Delaware State visited the surging Hoyas at the University of Georgetown, hoping to pull off a huge upset.

As the game went underway, the Hornets looked as if they may put up a fight, scoring the first bucket of the game. That, however, was their only high point of the first half. In the first period, Delaware State scored a measly 12 points, half of which were scored by their bigman, Marques Gantt. On the other side of the ball, Gerald Riley had an outstanding game offensively, scoring 22 of his points in the first half.

After the intermission, the Hoyas just continued from where they left off. Cook was never really a scoring threat in this game, although he hit two threes, but racked up numerous assists. Riley continued his scoring expertise, and the Hornets proved further why they needed help. Delaware State point guard lit it up in the second half, scoring 17 of his 19 points, but it wasn't near enough. The Hoyas put this one away easily, 86-35.

Player Of The Game - Ashanti Cook: 11 Points, 13 Assists, 5 Rebounds, 2 Steals

      Riley - 37 Points, 2 Rebounds, 2 Assists
      Freeman - 13 Points, 11 Rebounds

      Miles Davis - 19 Points, 1 Assist
      Marques Gantt - 7 Points, 5 Rebounds

      Team Assists
      GU - 23
      DSU - 6

The Spartans of Norfolk State visited the Georgetown Hoyas, hoping to fair better than the last Mid-Eastern Conference team, Delaware State, did.

The first half was anything but exciting. Each squad played decent, hitting around 45% of their shots and keeping the game competitive. However, for much of the half, there were no runs by either team or anything that you would consider highlight-reel material. The Hoyas took the lead into the half, but were only up by a couple.

The closing period was even more competitive, and, thank God, more exciting. Each team had it's moments, with huge runs both ways and fast breaks capped with extraordinary dunks. In the end, however, the Hoyas pulled it out when the Spartans resorted to fouling, 87-81.

Player Of The Game - Ashanti Cook: 12 Points, 10 Assists, 3 Rebounds

            Riley - 26 Points, 5 Rebounds
            Bowman - 12 Points, 7 Rebounds

            Chakowby Hicks - 33 Points, 3 Assists
            Ryan Grier - 10 Points, 4 Rebounds
