JOHN WALL ANNOUNCES SEASON GOALS AT FIRST PRESS CONFERENCE

Wall announced today that anything less than making the playoffs this year will be a failure. Wall also went on to talk about how "it's our [the Wizards] time to rise up". Wall looks as if he is a 'Man on a Mission' heading into the 2012-2013 season.

This should be a great battle between two of the leagues best point guards, Washington's John Wall and Cleveland's Kyrie Irving. We expect this to be a closely contested matchup, but we're giving the edge to the Cav's.

WIZARDS OPEN SEASON WITH WIN IN CLEVELAND

On Halloween-Eve the Wizards open the season with a convincing win over Kyrie Irving and the Cavaliers. Both star point guards struggled, each having 7 turnovers. The two teams combined for a sloppy 38 turnovers. John Wall, however put 28 points on the board with 10/15 shooting from the field. The game was close until late in the second quarter when the Wizards blew open a 21 point lead. Cleveland fought back but just couldn't get the job done.

          Positives:
+ Efficient scoring from John Wall (67% shooting, 28 points)
+ Overall good defense (held CLE to 79 points, forced 22 turnovers, 9 blocked shots, shutdown Kyrie Irving)

          Negatives:
          - Too many turnovers (16 turnovers, 7 from John Wall)
          - Poor free throw shooting (69% as a team, Emeka Okafor 2/8 from the line)

JOHN WALL SPRAINS FOOT, COULD BE OUT UP TO A MONTH

Early in the first quarter of Washington's 92-85 victory over Charlotte, All-Star point guard John Wall sprained his right foot going up for a rebound. Doctors say he will not return to action for 2-4 weeks. The Wizards are off to a hot 5-1 start with victories over Boston and Indiana. Can they keep it going without their best player? Leandro Barbosa is expected to step into the starting role while Wall is recovering.

Without John Wall it looks as if it's going to be a rough night for the Wizards. Dallas has the upper hand at four of the five staring positions and has a more talented bench. The Wizards are going to have to find a new offensive threat without Wall who was averaging nearly 21 points per game before the injury. Dallas gets the W here.
