The Chargers, after a few years of garbage look amazing with their new coaches
San Diego, with their abysmal 7-9 record and their below-average home record at 4-4 sure did bounce back from last season as they looked sharp in their home opener in Qualcomm Stadium.
"I think I can show the Patriots and anyone who ignored me in free agency that I can handle being a 3 down back for the Chargers and this game sure did silence most of the haters," San Diego's running back Danny Woodhead said. "I didn't feel nervous at all. We were major underdogs so it isn't like we had much to lose in this game if we did, Houston's problems on their run defense definitely showed here and I expect most defenses to be bad with me getting these 20+ carry games."
"We just wanted to see what Danny [Woodhead] could do with the carries we gave him. He knows that this was just a test and we wont over-carry him to make sure his health and work-load is at top form." - Chargers Coach Mike McCoy.
So now, in one week the Texans have the same amount of losses than in 13 weeks last year. Coach Kubiak didn't have a person to blame so he just decided to blame himself saying that he could have done more on both sides of the ball that could have paved us a win or at least closer to one.
Being down 17-3, the Chargers knew it was time to score a touchdown and thats exactly what they did as Malcolm Floyd was found by Phillip Rivers for a 14 yard touchdown in the center of the field running a post route.
"I just tried my best to get around Johnathan [Joseph] and it was hard to do against a guy of his caliber. Anyone who puts up good numbers on him would have to be very good to do so," receiver Malcolm Floyd said.
Phillip Rivers had a very shaky day. He had a few risky and questionable passes but ended up with a good stat-sheet at 18/27, 284 yards, with 3 touchdowns and 3 interceptions, two by pro bowl corner Johnathan Joseph.
