October 8th Roster Update
Since I just decided to do a Franchise thread the first 4 games will only be small summaries with scores and a brief synopsis because these games have already been played.
Game 1: W
Lions 27
Cardinals 7
The Detroit Lions, under new Coach Steve Mariucci, begin the 2003 season with a 27-7 win over the Arizona Cardinals. "The game wasn't even close." said Lion HB J.Stewart. Very bold for a player on a team whose primary objective for the season is to win more than 3 games.
Game 2: L
Lions 20
Packers 37
The Green Bay Packers came out and played as expected versus their perennial whipping board, the Detroit Lions. Despite the loss, HB J.Stewart managed to gain 100+ yds and score a TD while his field general, 2nd yr man J.Harrington, gave the Packers' defense 2 interceptions to play with.
Game 3: W
Lions 30
Vikings 24
After falling down early in the 3rd quarter 24-14, the Lions pulled themselves up by their bootstraps and managed to tie the game at 24 late in the game and send it to OT. After an unsuccessful drive by the Vikings, J.Harrington and company proceed to control the ball all the way down the field before FB C.Schlesinger walked in from short yardage to give them the 30-24 win. Rookie WR C.Rogers got his first real action in the game and responded by scoring 2 TDs on 5 receptions. HB J.Stewart also managed to gain 141 yds on the ground on 31 atts.
Game 4: W
Lions 35
Broncos 31
Coming into the game the Broncos were 3-0. Playing at home they were extremely confident that they would take out the lowly Detroit Lions. That would not be the case on this day. After falling down 17-7 the Lions rallied and scored a TD to make the score 17-14. On the Broncos next drive the ball was fumbled and the Lions took a 21-17 lead never to trail again in the game. Rookie WR C.Rogers had a breakout game grabbing 11 passes for 204 yds and 1 TD.
This win gives the Lions their 2nd consecutive win and a 3-1 record. They also have an 11 Power Ranking.
Next Game: San Francisco 49ers
