Thinking of writing my first dynasty--any pointers?

Okay, I've never done one of these before, and I didn't see a FAQ anywhere (forgive me if I've missed it--feel free to close the topic if there is one already).

With NBA 2K15 coming out next week, and my Amazon pre-order arriving on launch day, I've been thinking of starting my own basketball MyCareer dynasty thread. The basic idea is here.

However, having never done one before, I was wondering if there was some set of guidelines I had to follow. Should I write it like it was chapters of a book? Or maybe like a series of online journalism articles, like ESPN or some such? Or perhaps like the character's diary, detailing the events of the day?

I just want to make sure I make something enjoyable, and make an entertaining, relatable character that tries to overcome his burdens--burdens that go deeper than just going undrafted.

    Can anyone help me, please?

...No one? Nothing at all? It's been over a week...

I just want to write the best MyCareer dynasty that I can, especially that the idea has gotten so much support--as of this writing, it has twenty-four upvotes.

I'll paste it here, if you missed it:

Our MyPlayer character goes undrafted in 2K15, right? I actually have the perfect reason my character would be passed up by every single team...

Remember the Royce White fiasco? Remember how he could have stood as a great example to live up to for people with mental disorders (he had generalized anxiety disorder), but instead he threw a big fit about things and became an utter embarrassment, playing NINE MINUTES last year for the Kings, scoring no points, yet managing to pick up two fouls? What a wasted opportunity he was.

So, taking inspiration from that, I figured that since White was such a waste of a pick, no team would dare take another chance on a player with a mental/neurological disorder again.

Thus, I intend to play my character as a man who wanted to be the first NBA player to be a diagnosed autistic.

I have Asperger's Syndrome in real life (diagnosed in 1993 at age 11), and that will be the reason he goes undrafted. No one wants to take a chance on a guy who not only has that disorder, but who also came from such a weak basketball college (the University of North Texas--I didn't go there, but basketball-reference.com says they've never produced an NBA player).

However, this time, he's going to be the GOOD example that Royce White should have been.

    (end paste here)

Any advice on how to write one well? Or should I just do what comes naturally?

Do what comes naturally. No one can really spell out how you should write your dynasty. You just have to start it and experiment. Once you get going I'm sure it'll be nice. I'm definitely checking for it.

        Thanks, man.

Oh, and you should know...I don't have a video capture device, or even a digital camera (my cellphone is pretty cheap), nor can I edit pictures well.

Would people be at all interested in a dynasty thread that's almost entirely text?

I guess if the writing is good enough...

I would follow….as I do most of the dynasties. Just be yourself, and use the charts that are provided in the dynasty section, i.e. draft picks, stat leaders, etc. Again, be yourself….I'll be checking it out.

I was thinking about that, yeah (and thanks for pointing me to the HTML table codes, I'd forgotten about those).

Thing is, I don't want to tell the story of an entire franchise. I want to tell one man's story--a story of overcoming his mental and neurological handicaps, sort of like how Wilma Rudolph used to require braces to walk, but became an Olympic runner. (And since Forrest Gump is my all-time favorite movie, I feel obligated to point out the comparison...)

Would it be okay if I just followed one guy's career? I mean, that DOES seem to be the whole point of the mode...

Trekfan dynasties are almost entirely text and yet they're really awesome. Go on, man. I'll surely follow
"It matters not how strait the gate
How charged with punishments the scroll
I am the master of my fate
I am the captain of my soul"

Thanks for all your help. Seriously, very grateful here. No sarcasm.

I have places to be today, but once I get home, I'll get right on writing the dynasty. Look for it to pop up sometime in the next 24-48 hours.
