Just a quick Excel tip for my 'nasty boys I learned recently (Custom height format)

Typing heights is one of the most annoying thing about a dynasty... I'd say. I used to just use the lazy 5-10 (dash between the two) as it was much easier.

I recently found a good "hack" for excel aka custom formatting. In your height column, edit to a custom cell format as such:

    Code:
    [<100]#' #'';#' ##\"
All you have to do is type 52 and it will return 5'2"

    510 and it returns 5'10"

    68 and it returns 6'8"

For me this was a big find, and I hope it helps someone else.

That's a great tip. I usually copy a roster from the teams website to start and it always changes the heights to a date.

In that case, just highlight the column, right click, and then click on "format cells" and choose the category "text."

Doing this will stop the numbers from converting to dates. What you type is what you get.

I have another tip that freaking BLEW MY DAMN MIND. We have to thank the data entry people that have such tough jobs for this because Excel had them in mind. This is another one that I did not know until just now. I stopped what I was doing and came over.

So you're typing up your roster, even if you don't track all ratings annually like I've started to do, it can still be a bear.

Tip: Excel is designed for data entry people, one way it makes their job easier is with the selection tool.

Select a section of data entry you want to work on, and start typing from the top left, it will automatically tab down after you press enter, and then tab up to the top of the next column after you complete the first column, all the way until the end. What you're currently working on is less shaded than the rest so it's easy to figure out exactly where you currently are.

            Here's an image:

            Good luck!

Love working with Excel so both these tips (height hack and current selection) will definitely help be more efficient! The height thing has always bothered me as it was such a PITA at times. The current selection will make it easier to just go down the entire roster and type in the attributes without having to click on the top of the next column. I envision XBOX paddle in my left hand, right hand working the number pad on the right of the keyboard and hopefully flying through the roster. Thanks again!!!

Cheese, you haven't been around so I wanted to know if you could edit the title of the thread to the title that I edited the first post to? Like whenever you do have a minute... If that's something you wouldn't mind doing.

Also, the friend request I mentioned earlier seems bogus... I tried to delete it and it just freezes and gives me an error.... So sorry about asking you to check for it, seems like there's some error.

Did you Know? The Santa Clara Broncos

For those that like create-a-teams.... DID YOU KNOW that Santa Clara used to have a team? In the 30's and 40's they were actually a powerhouse. They are 3-0 in bowl games.

                    '36 Sugar Bowl - LSU
                    '37 Sugar Bowl - LSU
                    '49 Orange Bowl - Kentucky

UH, I had no idea! They have cool colors, a cool logo, and I think there is a story to be woven here about tech money and a new stadium blah blah blah.....

Just a thought. I personally like the real teams, but this could be really cool for somebody.
