Boston Red Sox Dynasty (MVP 2005)

Alrighty, a new season, and hopefully a second World Series in a row for the Sox. Let's get right to it. First of all, I made one deal before the season started. I dealt Trot Nixon for Ken Griffey Jr. I know some may feel it's not fair, but Nixon is better in this, and younger, but Griffey is my favorite player and always has been, so I felt like using him. Anyways, onto the lineup:

    1. Johnny Damon (CF)
    2. Edgar Renteria (SS)
    3. Manny Ramirez (LF)
    4. David Ortiz (DH)
    5. Ken Griffey Jr.
    6. Jason Varitek (C)
    7. Kevin Millar (1B)
    8. Bill Mueller (3B)
    9. Mark Bellhorn (2B)

    Now, onto the rotation:

    SP - Curt Schilling
    SP - David Wells
    SP - Matt Clement
    SP - Wade Miller
    SP - Tim Wakefield

    Finally, to the bullpen:

    CP - Keith Foulke
    SU - Mike Timlin
    RP - Alan Embree
    RP - John Halama
    RP - Bronson Arroyo
    RP - Byung Hyun Kim
    RP - Scott Williamson (callup)

There's the lineup, rotation, and bullpen for the 2005 Boston Red Sox. I'll be back later with results from the HUGE first series against the New York Yankees.

    Holy crap! It's Kearnzo!

I like the deal (Griffey is my favorite as well).

    I'll be reading.

Haha, good to see someone will be reading

Yeah, i've been really busy lately though. Had rehab for my ankle (fractures blow, and i'm trying to get in back into shape for baseball in late March), and i've had a LOT of school work lately.

Anyways, i've played through four games. Here are the scores:

Game 1: Red Sox at Yankees

Pitchers: Curt Schilling vs. Randy Johnson

            Final score: Boston wins 4-0.

Game 2: Red Sox at Yankees

Pitchers: David Wells vs. Mike Mussina

            Final score: Boston wins 4-3.

Game 3: Red Sox at Yankees

Pitchers: Matt Clement vs. Carl Pavano

            Final Score: Yankees win 2-1.

Game 4: Red Sox at Blue Jays

Pitchers: Wade Miller vs. Josh Towers

            Final Score: Boston wins 4-3.

As you can see, i've had quite a few close games so far. The one Yankees loss was a heartbreaker, as I was up 1-0 in the 8th until A-Rod crushed a two run homer off of Clement, who was laboring and I should've pulled, to give them the lead 2-1. I've had some great pitching performances thus far however. Here's some quick key stats:

            Pitching:

Curt Schilling (CG): 1-0, 9.0 IP, 0.00 ERA, 3 SO
            David Wells: 1-0, 7.0 IP, 2.57 ERA, 7 SO
            Matt Clement: 0-1, 7.2 IP, 2.35 ERA, 4 SO
            Wade Miller: 0-0, 6.2 IP, 2.70 ERA, 4 SO
            Keith Foulke: 0-0, 2.1 IP, 0.00 ERA, 1 SO, 2 SV

            Batting:

Manny Ramirez: BA .188, 1 RBI
David Ortiz: BA .250, 3 RBI, 3 HR
Ken Griffey Jr.: BA .400, 1 RBI, 1HR
Kevin Millar: BA .267, 3 RBI
Bill Mueller: BA .214, 2 RBI, 1 HR
Mark Bellhorn: BA .400, 3 RBI, 1 HR

As you can see, I need to pick it up hitting. Manny hasn't done crap yet, and he actually has gotten good pitches to hit. He's just slumping. I'm picking it up however in the power dept. Ortiz's 3rd HR of the season was a go ahead HR in the 8th inning against the Blue Jays that ultimately gave me the win. Stay tuned for next time. I should have more in depth analysis of the games next time, since I started this dynasty page today, and I played the first 3 games yesterday and sort of forgot what happened in each game. Also, any tips or advice is appreciated, as this is my first dynasty page on OS.
