Cubs shortstop Nomar Garciaparra will be placed on the 15 day disabled list. Nomar will be out approximately 18 days with a strained left forearm. Nomar received the injury in a game against St. Louis as he went in hard at 2nd to break up a double play. Neifi Perez will slide into the shortstop position. The Cubs will call up David Kelton from Iowa to take Nomar's place on the roster. David was batting .348 with 3 homers and 8 rbi's at Iowa. ...

Cubs starting pitcher Carlos Zambrano was placed on the 15 day DL with a fractured arm. Carlos is said to be out approximately 47 days. The injury occurred when Carlos took a line drive off of the arm. The Cubs have called up Renyel Pinto from Iowa to take Carlos' spot in the rotation. Pinto had a 0-0 record with a 2.61 era and 13k's in Iowa. ...

Zambrano will miss 47 games with a broken arm, as the injuries mount for the Cubs.
