Longhorns Make Texas' Sized Statement To Open 2035 Season

Stephen Sharga didn't have the cleanest debut in Nash Savage's "Nitro" offense, but settled down with a total of 5 touchdowns in the eventual 48-17 rout over Syracuse.

LEFT - Vernon Folkers with the easy INT after Brenton Deablo tried to force a ball into double coverage late in the 2nd Q, setting up Sharga's 7 yard TD to Andre Mond and a 20-0 Texas lead at the break.
CENTER - Aside from two big plays, including this 57 yard scamper by Gio Lamm for a score, the Longhorns defense kept the high-powered Orange offense grounded.
RIGHT - Senior MLB Angel Kellum stepping up in the redzone with a crucial sack on 3rd and goal to force the field goal.

      Charlotte, NC. -
In a dominant season-opening statement, the #5 Texas Longhorns overwhelmed #3 Syracuse 48–17 in the 2035 Duke’s Mayo Classic at Bank of America Stadium. The matchup marked the highly anticipated return of Texas head coach Nash Savage’s high-octane offense—and despite early inconsistencies, it eventually lived up to the billing.

Texas jumped out to a 20–0 halftime lead despite some early struggles from quarterback Stephen Sharga, who completed just 10 of his first 22 passes for 100 yards. The Longhorns offense leaned heavily on the ground game in the first half, as Sharga and senior running back Marquis Pettis combined for 136 rushing yards to keep drives alive. Two of Texas’ first three drives ended in short field goals by George Marciano, but momentum shifted after a 42-yard strike to Andre Mond set up Sharga’s 1-yard touchdown run. Minutes later, a fourth-down gamble paid off when Savage kept the offense on the field at the Syracuse 7-yard line. Sharga delivered again, finding Mond for a touchdown that gave Texas a commanding halftime edge.

Syracuse, stifled throughout the first half with three punts and an interception, finally found signs of life in the third quarter. But not before Texas extended the lead to 27–0 with a 74-yard catch-and-run touchdown from tight end Tyler Biggs. That seemed to wake up the Orange, who immediately responded with a 79-yard screen-pass touchdown by Jimmy McCann. After a Sharga interception on the ensuing drive, Syracuse tacked on a field goal, then struck again on a 57-yard burst from Gio Lamm following another Sharga turnover—suddenly cutting the lead to 27–17.

With the momentum tilting dangerously, Sharga rebounded, connecting on a 77-yard bomb to John Caesar to spark a response. That drive ended with a 9-yard jet sweep touchdown to Miguel Jerman, and from that point forward, Texas slammed the door. Syracuse quarterback Brenton Deablo was picked off by CB Juan Ventura, and Sharga again capitalized, finding Jerman for a 33-yard score against a mismatched linebacker. Defensive end Shaq Parms later forced a Gio Lamm fumble, and reserve back Lee Vela iced the game with a 23-yard touchdown to cap a 10-play drive.

Syracuse’s final drive ended with a turnover on downs, and Savage showed sportsmanship in the final minute, choosing to kneel inside the Orange’s 5-yard line rather than run up the score on his former team.

Sharga finished with an explosive but erratic performance: 20-of-37 for 350 yards, 4 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, and one rushing TD. Pettis was the offensive engine early, rushing 21 times for 155 yards, while Jerman emerged as a breakout weapon with two second-half touchdown grabs. Defensively, the Longhorns forced three turnovers and logged a crucial third-down sack from senior MLB Angel Kellum to snuff out Syracuse’s best comeback hopes.

With the victory, Texas not only starts 1–0 but makes an emphatic case for being a serious College Football Playoff contender in 2035.

Solid Debut.. Just got caught up.. Looks like you got a solid #2 at both QB and RB ready to help carry the team for the next couple years.

Texas had a glut of QBs when I took over after the season, 9 to be exact lol. Two graduated and I transferred a few out. Ekanem has the ratings to be a star, but no badges and just meh attributes overall. More of a journey man at some, master of none kind of thing. MU has a better skill set and then I do have the #3 QB in the nation out of NM targeted and has me listed as #1 so another option coming in. I (hopefully) can keep a steady stream of QBs coming in so we aren't in a situation like at Georgia where there was a huge drop off after a senior graduated. Still getting the feel for another lefty (Sharga), a lot of my designed rollouts obviously go to the right side and I haven't been able to tweak them to the left yet, still a work in progress

LEFT - MLB Titus Alldi with a heads up interception to keep the Ducks off the board in the 1st half.
CENTER - Dane Albert finally got the Ducks on the board with this beautiful wheel route touchdown late in the 4th, but it was too little too late for the Ducks.
RIGHT - Stephen Sharga struggled with his own interceptions as the southpaw continues to learn HC Nash Savage's offense. Sharga has already tossed 5 interceptions on the season after throwing 8 all of last seaosn.

Eugene, OR. - In a physical, defensive slugfest between two top-15 teams, #1 Texas outlasted 12 Oregon 21–7 in a rain-soaked battle in Eugene, improving to 2–0 on the young season. Despite a rocky first half for Longhorns quarterback Stephen Sharga, who tossed three interceptions before halftime, the Texas defense stood tall and never allowed Oregon to capitalize on the mistakes.

Texas struck early, marching 75 yards on their opening possession in a run-heavy drive capped by a 7-yard touchdown scamper from Lee Vela. But after that, the offense sputtered as Sharga was picked off on three straight drives. The Ducks had a golden opportunity to even the score after the second interception, engineering a 9-play march into the red zone. However, four consecutive rushing attempts from the 7-yard line yielded just one yard, and on 4th-and-goal from the 2, the Longhorns defense blew up the play for a 4-yard loss, denying Oregon any points.

That defensive stand reenergized Texas, and Sharga rebounded by leading a 10-play drive that he finished himself with a 4-yard rushing touchdown to give the Longhorns a 14–0 lead. Oregon’s defense would intercept a desperation Hail Mary before halftime, but once again, it led to no points.

The second half saw more life from the Ducks’ offense as quarterback Dane Albert got into rhythm after a quiet start. Albert completed 14 of 22 second-half passes for 167 yards and a late touchdown, but also threw a costly interception and was unable to convert a fourth down deep in Texas territory. Meanwhile, Texas extended their lead in the third quarter with a back-breaking 18-yard touchdown reception by Marquis Pettis—one of the standout offensive weapons for Sharga and company.

Albert finally connected with Raysean Salaam for a 22-yard touchdown midway through the fourth quarter to get Oregon on the board, but the ensuing onside kick was recovered by Texas. The Longhorns milked the clock, sealing a tough, gritty win.

Despite his turnover woes—five interceptions through two games after throwing just eight all of last season—Sharga still posted 316 yards of total offense and accounted for two touchdowns. When asked about the picks, the senior shrugged them off: “New offense, one that’s been tailored for right-handed QBs. It sounds simple to adjust the concepts, but it really isn’t. Just working through what fits me in this system. As long as the wins keep coming, we’re not going to worry about the turnovers unless they’re reckless.”

Defensively, Texas continues to impress under new coordinator Quincey Lincoln, notching five sacks and two more takeaways to bring their season total to four. The win solidifies Texas’ standing as the nation’s top team heading into next week’s non-conference showdown with the Miami Hurricanes before SEC play begins.

In other notable action, Ball State continued its dominance over Notre Dame, as Heisman hopeful Juan Franco lit up the Fighting Irish for five total touchdowns in a 42–21 road win.

LEFT - Miguel Jerman continues to shine in Savage's offense with another 173 yards and two scores on the day, including a blistering 71 yard catch and run touchdown leaving the Hurricanes defense trailing.
CENTER - Orlando Ogletree was deadly throughout the game, but ended the 1st and last drive of the contest with interceptions in the redzone to leave Miami just short.
RIGHT - The Longhorns defense continues to make plays, despite giving up 400+ passing yards, with another 5 sacks on their hot start under DC Quincey Lincoln

            Austin, TX. -
Top-ranked Texas held off a feisty #14 Miami squad in their 2035 home opener, grinding out a 31–21 victory in front of a packed house in Austin to move to 3–0 on the season. While Texas never trailed, the Hurricanes tested them throughout, thanks to a dazzling but erratic performance from quarterback Orlando Ogletree, who threw for 432 yards and three touchdowns—but also two costly interceptions, both in the red zone.

Texas jumped out to a fast start behind quarterback Stephen Sharga, who opened the game red-hot, completing 10 of his first 11 passes with two touchdowns, including a 3-yard toss to Marquis Pettis and a deep 71-yard strike to Miguel Jerman. Miami responded with big-play fireworks of their own, as Ogletree connected with Shawn Fredrick for a 60-yard score and later capitalized on a Sharga fumble with a short touchdown drive capped by a 12-yard pass to Joey St. John. That fumble—Sharga’s second turnover of the half—trimmed the Texas lead to just 17–14 at the break and left the quarterback favoring his throwing shoulder.

Though he stayed in the game, Sharga became noticeably more cautious, limiting his scrambles and opting for throwaways under pressure. Miami’s aggressive front took advantage with three sacks, but Texas’ own defense responded in kind, hounding Ogletree for five sacks and keeping the Hurricanes from building sustained momentum.

Texas opened the second half with a composed 7-play touchdown drive, capped again by Pettis—this time on the ground—to reclaim a double-digit lead. Miami wouldn’t score again until midway through the fourth quarter, when Ogletree capped an 11-play drive with an 8-yard scoring pass to Ryan DeWitt to make it 24–21. But just as the Hurricanes closed the gap, Sharga answered with his most efficient drive of the night, going 5-for-7 for 68 yards and finding Jerman again for a 12-yard score, pushing the lead back to 10 with under five minutes remaining.

Ogletree, undeterred, led Miami into striking distance with four straight completions. But on 2nd-and-2 from the Texas 36, he went for the knockout punch—only to be intercepted in the end zone by strong safety George Rubio. Though Rubio was ruled down at the 1-yard line, the Longhorns managed to escape the dangerous field position. After two Pettis runs gained just one yard, Sharga found John Silverman on 3rd-and-9 for a clutch completion just short of the marker. Facing a 4th-and-inches from their own 10, head coach Nash Savage gambled—and Pettis rewarded his faith, powering forward for a first down that allowed Texas to kneel out the clock.

Sharga finished the game with 338 passing yards, three touchdowns, and two turnovers, while Pettis chipped in 155 total yards and two scores. Jerman led all receivers with 173 yards and two touchdowns. For Miami, Ogletree’s gaudy passing stats were undermined by his red zone struggles and the relentless pressure brought by the Longhorns’ front seven.

Elsewhere, Kadin Semonza made noise of his own as his Ball State Cardinals marched into Sanford Stadium and knocked off Georgia in a 49–40 shootout in Athens. Juan Franco continued his blistering start to the season, racking up six total touchdowns—three through the air and three on the ground—to keep Ball State perfect at 3–0.

Next up for Texas: a trip to Knoxville to face the Tennessee Volunteers in their SEC opener, as they look to tighten up their execution and keep the #1 ranking intact.

Savage also secured his 1st 5* commitment as the Longhorns head ball coach after 5* safety Brian Carney signed with Texas over his hometown LSU Tigers and the Georgia Bulldogs.

LEFT - Big plays continue to burn the Longhorns defense as they gave up three more touchdowns of 50+ yards in an otherwise stellar outing.
CENTER - Despite the late surge by Tennessee the Longhorns defense is still playing as one of the best units in the country, collecting two more interceptions and four more sacks in the contest.
RIGHT - Stephen Sharga continues to struggle with the deep ball, tossing two more interceptions to bring his total to 10 already in the young season.

Knoxville, TN. - The Texas Longhorns opened SEC play in Knoxville with a hard-fought 37-27 win over the 12 Tennessee Volunteers, improving to 4-0 on the season. Texas came out of the gate strong, marching down the field on a 14-play drive that resulted in a George Marciano field goal. Despite an early interception from quarterback Stephen Sharga on a deep shot—one of many misfires downfield—the Longhorns leaned on their ground game and suffocating defense to build a commanding halftime lead. Sharga would later atone with a 7-yard touchdown run before capping a late second-quarter drive with a beautifully executed 4-yard screen pass to Lee Vela for a score as time expired, pushing Texas ahead 20-3 at the break.

Tennessee quarterback Charles Landers struggled in the first half, tossing two costly interceptions, the second coming on a poorly placed seam pass picked off by safety Bryce Fiedorowicz. Texas capitalized on the mistakes, including a touchdown drive aided by a clutch third-down conversion to John Silverman and solid play from do-it-all running back Marquis Pettis, who later added a short touchdown run early in the third quarter to extend the lead to 27-3.

However, the game took a dramatic turn in the fourth quarter. After a third-quarter Tennessee field goal and a Sharga interception to open the final frame, the Volunteers exploded for 21 points—all on passes of 50+ yards from Landers to Ian Power and Bob Mosley, exposing Texas’ vulnerability to the deep ball. Still, the Longhorns responded just enough to keep the Vols at bay, as Sharga connected with Miguel Jerman for a 10-yard score midway through the fourth. A late Marciano field goal helped pad the lead, and although Tennessee scored once more with just over a minute left, the onside kick was recovered by Texas, who ran out the clock.

Sharga’s up-and-down season continued with another mixed performance: he accounted for three total touchdowns (two passing, one rushing) but also threw two interceptions, bringing his season total to 10. The senior signal-caller looked sharp early but struggled to maintain rhythm after a physical Tennessee defense began to apply pressure, sacking him three times and forcing hurried throws. The Texas defense, meanwhile, kept its aggressive edge, logging four sacks and two interceptions in a mostly dominant showing marred by late-game lapses.

Running back Marquis Pettis was limited in the second half due to a shoulder strain, and backup Lee Vela was also banged up in the fourth quarter. Both are expected to play in next week’s pivotal showdown against Alabama, though they may be on a snap count.

Ball State continued their impressive start, winning their Big Ten debut with an explosive 56-35 showdown against 8 Cincinnati. Despite surrendering a 21-point lead in the third quarter, Ball State quarterback Juan Franco once again proved why he’s a Heisman favorite, tossing three fourth-quarter touchdowns to put the game away. Franco now boasts 21 total touchdowns through just four games.

On the recruiting trail, Texas received a major boost with the commitment of 4-star linebacker Raekwon Robbins, an Arlington native who chose the Longhorns over Oklahoma and Ohio State. Robbins is the third commitment in a promising early class for Coach Nash Savage (1 five-star, 2 four-stars), as Texas continues to build for the future while chasing a national title in the present.

LEFT - Alabama defense finally forced a turnover with a Sharga fumble on the goal line, but quickly gave the ball right back on this safety.
CENTER - Oscar Garcia completed 9 of 10 passes for 184 yards and a touchdown in the 4th Q, with his lone incompletion coming on a deep shot, in an otherwise lackluster performance.
RIGHT - Miguel Giuliano hitting the griddy after the opening drive sack on Garcia. Texas continued their early success with 5 more sacks and another pair of interceptions.

                    Austin, TX. -
The #2 Texas Longhorns made a loud statement in Austin on Saturday with a dominant 44-16 dismantling of #7 Alabama, improving to 5-0 on the season while exposing a deeply flawed game plan from the Crimson Tide. Despite having one of the nation’s most electric quarterbacks in Oscar Garcia, Alabama entered the game intent on avoiding the teeth of Texas’ pass rush and secondary by relying heavily on the ground game. The result was disastrous. The Tide were shut out through three quarters and managed just 65 total yards in the first half as the Longhorns built a commanding 21-0 lead.

Texas quarterback Stephen Sharga, who had battled inconsistency and turnover issues early in the season, delivered his most complete game in Head Coach Nash Savage’s fast-paced “Nitro” offense. Sharga finished 17-of-26 for 229 yards and four touchdowns, including a pair of strikes in the second quarter—a 7-yard pass to Marquis Pettis after a Garcia interception and a buzzer-beating 38-yard score to Miguel Jerman that capped a quick3-play, 45-yard drive in under thirty seconds.

The Longhorns picked up right where they left off in the third quarter. Alabama’s continued insistence on running the ball led to another quick punt, and though the Tide finally forced a turnover when Sharga fumbled at the goal line, they gave it right back. Pat Henderson was swarmed for a safety on the next play. Texas took the free kick and turned it into seven more points, with Sharga hitting John Silverman for a 16-yard touchdown. Pettis, playing on a snap count due to a lingering shoulder strain, added a 2-yard touchdown run after finally getting rolling in the second half, finishing with 109 yards on just 12 carries.

Down 37-0 entering the fourth quarter, Alabama finally unleashed Garcia, and the results were immediate. Garcia, who had gone just 7-for-13 for 50 yards and an interception through three quarters, completed 9 of his final 10 passes for 184 yards and two scores—a deep strike of 62 yards and a 5-yard rushing touchdown. But the late surge came far too late, with a safety by the Alabama defense being their only other contribution to the scoreboard.

“Hindsight is always 20/20,” Garcia admitted postgame. “But I think as Texas built the lead, we had more opportunities to take deep shots that we didn’t capitalize on.”

Pettis’ impact in limited action was hard to miss, prompting Savage to hint at a new long-term plan. “He can carry it 25 times, sure, but if I can get 100+ yards on 10 touches in the second half because he’s fresh? I’ll take that every time,” Savage noted. “It’s about maximizing his value late when teams are tired, and he’s just getting started.”

Elsewhere, Ball State’s march through the Big Ten continued with a 66-16 destruction of Minnesota. Star quarterback Juan Franco only played one half but still tallied five total touchdowns—one through the air and four on the ground—as the Cardinals led 49-6 at halftime. With their backups playing the entire second half, the two-time defending national champs look poised for another deep run.

Texas also celebrated a major victory on the recruiting trail, hauling in six new commitments following the Alabama win. Headlining the group is 5-star defensive end James Mosely, the 21st-ranked player nationally, who chose Texas over Oregon and Syracuse. He’s joined by C Ramon Tangelo (No. 279), CB Dominick Lamur (No. 135), LB Shaun Miles (No. 207), FS Nico Obi (No. 373), and ATH Brian Breckner (No. 83), giving the Longhorns a growing and balanced class.

Next up, Texas returns home to host the Auburn Tigers as SEC play rolls on in Austin.

Thanks man! The defense has been our saving grace this season and the cool thing is its not just one guy. Giuliano is the sack leader, but I've got 8 guys with at least one sack and at least 10 different guys with a pick. The 2nd half of the season eases up considerably. After Auburn we've got the Red River Showdown with #3 Oklahoma, then the only other ranked contest is Ole Miss who got blown out by Cuse and barely beat FCS earlier this year.

We were #1 for a minute, then Ball State hopped us after their win over Georgia. After this week we are back to #1 with Ball State at 3 and Oklahoma at 2 after their win over Florida.

LEFT - Emanuel Gooch found TE Alexander Stai wide open on the wheel route for the 23 yard TD to give Auburn the 21-14 4th Q lead.
CENTER - Tyler Biggs celebrating after his 64 yard touchdown pulled Texas back ahead with 1:27 remaining.
RIGHT - Auburn's defense was all over Stephen Sharga on the afternoon tallying 7 sacks in the near upset.

                      Austin, TX. -
Top-ranked Texas survived a scare from Auburn in a hard-fought 28–21 win, setting the stage for an undefeated Red River Showdown next week against Oklahoma. With Oklahoma having already dispatched Kansas State earlier in the day, the pressure was on the Longhorns to hold up their end of the bargain—but Auburn didn’t make it easy.

The game opened with each team grinding out long drives. Texas struck first with a 12-play drive capped by a 2-yard touchdown run from Marquis Pettis, while Auburn answered to open the second quarter with a 4-yard TD pass from Emanuel Gooch to HB AJ Osborne. After a series of stalled drives from both sides, the Texas defense came up big with a crucial interception by FS Bryce Fiedorowicz, setting up a 24-yard touchdown run from QB Stephen Sharga that gave the Longhorns a 14–7 halftime edge.

While the first half was a defensive slugfest, the third quarter belonged to Auburn. The Tigers amped up the pressure, sacking Sharga three times and picking him off twice, with both turnovers leading to touchdowns. Gooch’s 2-yard rushing score tied the game in the third, and his 23-yard touchdown strike to Alexander Stai early in the fourth gave Auburn its first lead, 21–14.

Sharga, facing his most adversity since the Alabama game, responded with poise. A methodical drive—highlighted by a 35-yard completion to WR Miguel Jerman—was capped by Pettis’ second touchdown of the day to tie the score at 21 with just over six minutes left. After a quick stop by the Longhorn defense, Texas faced a 3rd-and-16 following Auburn’s seventh sack of the game. That’s when Sharga delivered his best throw of the night: a 64-yard bomb to TE Tyler Biggs, who split the safeties and dragged a trio of defenders into the end zone for the go-ahead score.

Gooch, who played an excellent game (24/30, 249 yards, 2 TDs, 2 INTs), nearly led Auburn back, completing four quick passes to move into Texas territory. But on 1st-and-10 from his own 44, he made his only real mistake of the second half, attempting a deep shot that was intercepted by SS George Rubio to seal the win for the Longhorns.

Texas’ defense tallied four sacks and two picks, while Marquis Pettis powered the offense with 155 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Sharga finished 14-of-23 for 201 yards, one touchdown, two interceptions, and one rushing score—good enough to win, but still showing areas of concern as the Longhorns head into their toughest test yet.

In the Big Ten, Ball State’s domination continued with a 59–13 blowout of Iowa. Juan Franco threw five touchdown passes and rushed for two more, maintaining his grip on the Heisman race. He now leads the nation in passing yards (2,122), passing touchdowns (22), and rushing touchdowns (11).

Texas also landed two more commitments, as 4-star ATH Ted Amerson and 4-star CB Javier Angulo joined the Longhorns’ surging 2035 recruiting class.
Next week’s Red River Rivalry at the Cotton Bowl is loaded with intrigue, as the #1 Texas Longhorns and #2 Oklahoma Sooners will meet for the 22nd time with both teams entering the game undefeated. It also marks Texas head coach Nash Savage’s first matchup against Oklahoma since the Sooners handed his Georgia Bulldogs a 63–24 defeat in last year’s SEC Championship Game.

SS George Rubio with his 4th INT of the season, returning this one 41 yards to give the Longhorns a 10 point cushion that would prove to be invaluable.

LEFT - Somehow Stefon Muamba emerged on the other side of the wall of Longhorns players to run a miracle 80 yard punt return back in the final seconds, leaving the Sooners just short of victory.
CENTER - Marquis Pettis had two more touchdowns and another 165 yards on the ground as he continues to pace the nation in rushing and move up the Heisman ladder.
RIGHT - Jay Fox with the right angle to haul in this deep bomb, the 4th touchdown of 60+ yards by the Sooners on the afternoon.

                        Dallas, TX. -
In a Red River Showdown that lived up to every ounce of its hype, the #1 Texas Longhorns narrowly survived a furious late rally to defeat #2 Oklahoma, 45-42, in front of a raucous crowd at the Cotton Bowl. The win ended a three-game losing streak for Texas in the rivalry and delivered sweet revenge for head coach Nash Savage, who was humiliated by Oklahoma in last year’s SEC Championship Game while at Georgia.

The game began with both teams trading punches, each scoring on their opening drives. Texas leaned on HB Marquis Pettis early, as he racked up 42 yards and a touchdown in the first quarter. But the first true turning point came in the second, when standout SS George Rubio jumped a screen pass and returned it 41 yards for a touchdown. That pick-six stretched the Longhorns’ lead to 17-7 and ultimately proved to be the difference in the high-scoring affair.

Oklahoma freshman QB Ben Iosivas responded immediately with an 80-yard bomb to Aidan McCollum, showing the first flash of what would become a highlight-filled day for the Sooners’ electric receiving corps. Still, Texas maintained control, with QB Stephen Sharga leading a clutch two-minute drill capped by a short touchdown toss to WR Miguel Jerman, giving Texas a 24-14 lead at the break.

After halftime, the fireworks continued. Iosivas found Mitchell Harper for a 63-yard wheel route touchdown, but once again, Texas answered—this time on a gutsy 4th-and-3 call from Savage that paid off with Sharga’s second TD pass to Jerman. The Longhorns built their lead to 38-21 early in the 4th quarter, thanks to a punishing ground drive capped by Pettis’s second score of the game.

But just when it seemed Texas would run away with it, Oklahoma’s receiving corps exploded. Quincy Zakelj beat double coverage for an 84-yard touchdown just seconds after Pettis’s run. After another Longhorns touchdown, Iosivas hit Jay Fox on a 62-yard bomb, marking Oklahoma’s fourth touchdown of 60+ yards on the day.

With just 27 seconds left and a 4th-and-4 from the Sooners’ 28-yard line, Texas had a chance to seal the game, but a holding penalty erased a clutch conversion by Pettis. Forced to punt, Savage played the clock instead of the scoreboard—a decision that nearly backfired. Oklahoma’s Stefon Muamba returned the punt 80 yards for a touchdown, weaving through the Texas coverage team and stunning the crowd with just five seconds left. However, the ensuing onside kick failed, and Texas recovered to escape with the win.

Marquis Pettis finished the game with 165 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while Sharga delivered a poised and efficient performance, going 21-of-26 for 234 yards and three touchdowns. Iosivas, meanwhile, threw for 464 yards and five touchdowns in a breakout performance, but the one interception—Rubio’s pick-six—hung over everything.

“This is what the Red River Rivalry is all about,” said Savage postgame. “Despite a huge lead in the fourth, we barely escape this one. And the difference? George’s interception in the second. That was it.”

The win preserves Texas’ perfect season and keeps them atop the playoff race. Meanwhile, they landed their second five-star recruit of the cycle, with offensive tackle Spencer Samuel choosing Texas over Penn State and Central Michigan.

You rolling... Even when the passing game struggles your run game and Defense step up. Looks like Ball State is still dominating despite the move to the Big Ten.. Could we see a Ball State/Texas showdown this year? Lets hope so.

Thanks man! I'm still struggling with a lefty QB but we're surviving lol. Pettis is explosive and the defense has surprised me with how effective they are in coverage. I mentioned it before, but its not just one guy the whole team is chipping in and coming up with big plays. We made it through the gauntlet but its the SEC, anyone can still take it too us
                        Working...
