Rutgers Offense Can't Get Anything Going, Loses Defensive Struggle With Bearcats

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights lost a disappointing home opener tonight against the Cincinnatti Bearcats.

After finishing with five straight wins last year, anticipation was high for this game, but the offense never got anything going whatsoever. The only Rutgers score of the game came on a kickoff return for a touchdown.

The defense faired better, allowing only 14 points, but the performance was not enough to get a Rutgers victory.

One of the biggest questions starting the season for Rutgers was the QB situation. Unfortunately, the questions were not answered favorably today as fifth-year senior Domenic Natale was 9-18 for only 65 yards, tallying 0 TDs and 1 interception. The rushing game wasn't wonderful either. Junior Kordell Young went for 72 yards on 27 attempts, and average of only 2.6 per carry.

The Scarlet Knights will have some time to get it together, as the next two games on their schedule are against FCS East and Florida International.
