      Ducks Quacks Gators

      Oregon slips past Florida 41-40

Eugene, OR (AP) -- Oregon looked confident during pre-game practice, but didn't show that same confidence when the game started. Oregon could not get offense going, but did have some defense until the end of the 1st Qtr.

With 10 seconds left in the 1st Qtr, Brantley finds Hernandez in the end zone 1 yard away for the touchdown. In the 2nd Qtr, Florida driving down the field. Oregon holds them to 4 downs near the end zone, Florida settles with a 30 yard field goal. Same quarter, Florida again driving down the field, Brantley finds James for 19 yards and the score. Oregon fans starting to be hostile towards Coach Baxter. Finally the spark came to the offense, with only 30 seconds remaining in the half, Masoli finds Holland for 31 yards and the score. The score was 17-7 at halftime.

During halftime, Coach Baxter told the Oregon squad that if they couldn't get anything going, then Florida was going to play with them like bait all night long. The players stomped their cleats and pounded their helmets to get pumped. After storming back onto the field, we sensed a new football team. We got just that!

To begin the 3rd Quarter, Crenshaw returns a kick all the way to around midfield. The first play of the possession, Blount takes the ball and runs 44 yards and scores the touchdown. This would make the sore 17-14. On the next possession for Florida, Brantley tries to find someone to pass to but is hit and he coughs the ball up. Hicks would recover the ball for the Ducks. Again, off of the first play of the possession, Blount pounds it in 7 yards and the score. This would give an Oregon lead of 21-17. Florida was not down though, Florida would take advantage of the Oregon defense miscues and end up with a scoring drive ending with a 49 yard pass from Brantley to Thompson, this gave Florida the lead 24-21. Oregon still determined to win this game pulls out yet another great drive, but stalls in the end zone. Oregon would have to settle with a Flint 24 yard field goal, tying the game 24-24. Coach Baxter felt pretty confident about this going into overtime, well that is until Florida scored again to end the 3rd quarter. Florida's passing game was hot all night and Brantley shows it off with another 30 yard pass to Hernandez for the score, giving Florida the lead 31-24 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Coach Baxter told ESPN that he was going to adjust his offense to make it where Florida's defense would get tired, allowing Oregon's defense to rest and battle Florida's offense. Oregon would hold the ball 64% of the 4th quarter. Oregon would end its first 4th quarter possession with a QB sneak into the end zone, game is tied at 31-31. When Florida got the ball back, it seemed that Coach Baxter's plan backfired. Florida drives the ball into the end zone where the defense would finally step up and stop the offense, forcing the Gators to a 17 yard field goal, giving Florida the lead 34-31. The following kickoff was nasty, Blount would receive it and return it all the way down the field, 83 yards and the score. Oregon would finally reclaim the lead 38-31. Its getting very pressuring for Florida as time is getting short, but Florida finds the way to score just like they did when Brantley hooks up with Barnes for the 15 yard touchdown, Florida would claim a 40-38 lead when the extra point try was missed. Coach Baxter with only 2 timeouts had to think, the kickoff only made it to the Florida 28. Baxter sent Masoli to throw it deep, he did just that hooking with Blount on a screen and taking it to the Oregon 48. Then Blount would take it up the middle to around the 30-34 yard line. There was 4 seconds left and Oregon used their final time out. Baxter sent out Flint to attempt the game winning field goal from about 45 yards, ITS GOOD!!!!!! With only 1 second left, Oregon claims the victory 41-40.

Coach Baxter and the team was stormed by fans when they rushed onto the field. Coach Baxter said it was the greatest feeling in his whole Coaching career to beat one of the top 5 ranked teams.

      Oregon visits Michigan next week!

            Thanks man,

I was really getting frustrated with the game because I couldn't get the passing game going. Hopefully I can against Michigan.

If I am correct your first game (Nick Crowley) is against South Carolina in Week 3.

I'm in the middle of playing the Michigan game, results coming soon

              Ann Arbor Blues!

              Michigan falls to Oregon 19-7

Ann Arbor, MI (AP) -- The Wolverines was expected to keep it close with the Ducks, but failed to keep it within one score. The Ducks marched into Ann Arbor and took out the Wolverines. Coach Baxter told his squad that they had to perform better than what they did against Florida last week. Michigan has a weaker offense than Florida, but at the same time has a stronger defense. Coach Baxter told ESPN that he wanted his crew to rack up the yards even if they didn't score. Lets get down to the scoring summary of this game.

Starting in the 1st quarter, Oregon and Michigan exchanged possessions as neither of them could get anything going. Masoli threw 2 interceptions in the first half, both of them caused by Masoli trying to force a ball into double coverage. Oregon finally saw a light towards the end of the 1st quarter when they got the ball inside the 35 where the drive stalled. Coach Baxter sent in his kicker to attempt a 52 yard field goal, which was good. Oregon would strike first with a 3-0 lead, which ended the 1st quarter.

Not much changed for Michigan in the 2nd quarter as it was pure Duck Domination. Blount went down early with a foot sprain, so Crenshaw was sent in. He did good, but couldn't get anything going on some possessions. Michigan came real close to scoring but ended up missing a field goal attempt. This would give the Ducks the ball with 3:21 left in the 1st half. On 3rd play of the drive, Crenshaw takes it on a sweep and breaks some tackles, takes it 82 yards and the score, Oregon would increase their lead 10-7. Michigan was starting to see this game come to a close early if they continued to play this way. The first half was horrible and got worst. Oregon would end the half with a 40 yard field goal by Flint making the score 13-0 at halftime.

During halftime, Coach Baxter congratulated his team on an excellent performance. He told the team to continue racking yards and keeping the Michigan defense on the field. In the opposite locker room, Coach Rodriguez was furious that his defense was allowing Oregon to move the ball well. He demanded that they not allow any more easy touchdowns from the running game. Would it happen?

Starting up the 2nd half of the ball game Michigan would take possession. On the first snap, the ball is fumbled and recovered by Oregon. You could see Coach Rich Rodriguez throw his headset to the ground and scream towards the field. Oregon would not capitalize and would end up punting the ball back to Michigan. The Wolverines would go out and finally catch some hope, as they drove the ball down the field and scored a touchdown on a Minor 1 yard run. Michigan would cut Oregon's lead to 13-7, I guess it had to take a Coach throwing stuff and screaming in your face before something effective happens. Well it didn't work for long, in the 4th quarter, Michigan was doing nothing but fumbling the ball. The ball was fumbled 3 times in the quarter, but Oregon could only capitalize on 1 of the turnovers. Oregon would strike for the last time on a Blount 19 yard run, with a 2-pt conversion failed. Oregon would gain the victory 19-7.

After the game Coach Baxter told the team that they had a bad 2nd half on offense but had great defense throughout the whole game. Oregon will come back home to host the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Coach Rich Rodriguez didn't blow a fuse while talking to his team, he blew an entire gasket! He told them that they should of performed better than what they did. He then left the locker room for the team to reflect on their mistakes. Michigan will stay home for the 3rd straight week to host Notre Dame.

i was worrying about that game, i knew your kicker could kick long distances but didnt know about accuracy...when he missed it i dropped my jaw and just sat there and got a Delay of Game penalty cause i was in so much shock.

about matt, he was only out for a week, so i think he misses this game and will come back next week!

any ideas or comments you guys want to make...you can predict on all the games too by the way!

                                Say What!?

                                Arkansas stumps Oregon 29-25

Eugene, OR(AP) -- Coach Baxter and the Oregon Ducks came home expecting to win their 3rd straight against Arkansas. Coach informed us earlier that Masoli was suffering from foot pain ever since he sprained it last week at Michigan. Tonight he irritated that foot and was out for several plays, we will have updates on injuries later in our report.

Arkansas comes into Eugene and shocks the crowd as they pull the victory 29-25. Oregon had problems producing offense all night, and when it really counted, Oregon failed to convert. Looking at the numbers, Arkansas edges Oregon in total offense by 105 yards. Great game for the Razorbacks, not so much for the Ducks.

In the 1st Quarter, Oregon would get the ball to start the game and trouble begins early. Blount fumbles the ball on the 30 during the return and gives Arkansas the ball. Five plays later, Oregon intercepts Tyler Wilson and returns it to around the Oregon 46. This would be the first example of Oregon failing to convert on turnovers. Arkansas would get the ball back from a punt. First play of the drive Tyler Wilson finds D.J. Williams for 72 yards and the touchdown striking first, score goes to 7-0. Oregon would try yet again to capitalize on great field position, and again they would fail. Masoli gets his pass deflected then intercepted by Franklin. Arkansas would capitalize by driving the ball down the field and scoring on a Michael Smith 2 yard run, upping the score to 14-0. Coach Baxter is trying to motivate his team to get back in the game. Oregon would do that by going out, but only to end up with a 51 yard field goal by Flint, cutting the lead to 14-3.

The 2nd quarter was all about Oregon and their wonderful red zone offense. Oregon would score twice in this quarter on drives starting from Arkansas territory. First time, Oregon gets it down to the 1 yard line where Jeremiah Masoli punches it in for the QB sneak touchdown, cutting the lead even more to 14-10. They would score again with their kicking game right before halftime, Flint would be sent out to try a 53 yard field goal, the wind carries it to the destination, Oregon gets within one 14-13.

At halftime, Coach Baxter informed his players that they had to win the 2nd half. If they didn't then this game would be over and their season could go downhill. Masoli remained confident and tried to pump his team up in the locker room. On the opposite side, Coach Petrino left the talking up to his team captain, Tyler Wilson. Petrino remained unseen by the team until it was time to go back out. Both teams were pumped while returning to the field!

After seeing the 3rd quarter you would think that Arkansas was out of this game for good! Oregon would be the only team to score and they would score twice. After Masoli went down with a foot injury, Costa went in and scored a touchdown by calling his own number. They would fail to convert a 2-pt conversion, this would give Oregon their first lead 19-14. Oregon later scored by giving Flint another opportunity to kick a field goal, this one was from 42 yards and it was good, making the lead larger with a score of 22-14.

The good old 4th quarter blue started to kick in for Oregon when they watched Michael Smith return the kickoff for a touchdown to start the 4th quarter, Arkansas would convert a 2-pt conversion, tying the game 22-22. With only one minute to go in the game, Oregon found someway to find themselves in the red zone. Arkansas would hold them to a field goal, making the score 25-22. Coach Baxter felt confident in his defense to stop the Arkansas final drive. However, the defense failed him as Arkansas drove it down the field, then Tyler Wilson finds Joe Adams for 19 yards and the score with 1 second left, Arkansas would claim their upset victory 29-25.

After the game, Coach Baxter has no negative words to say to his team. He told them that Arkansas played tougher than they did but it doesn't mean they will lose the rest of the season. Oregon heads to the locker room with their head held high even after a heart breaking loss. Oregon has a bye week this week!
