    The Greatest Show on Turf

I am going to be creating a new Dynasty with the St. Louis Rams. I am going to try and rebuild them.

Here are my settings that I will use:

    Settings

    Platform: Xbox360
    Game: Madden 10 (Xbox 360)
    Mode: Franchise @ My Skill
Game Length: 7 minutes with Accelerated clock
    Rosters: Default

I will update the Settings more when I get to playing, but I wanted to set it up right now. I am hoping to be able to post the following:
    1. Score by quarter
    2. Stats for QBs, top RBs, WRs, Defensive Players and Kicker for each game.
    3. News stories (especially during the time when the game is not being played).
    4. Players of the week.

I usually only play a few times a week, so it will be a slower Dynasty. I hope that some people will read and post some feedback once i get going.

I have played one game so far and it was not a good game. I will be updating this tomorrow. I am really trying to get a good HTML idea going for each update.

      St. Louis Rams

      'The Greatest Show on Turf'

      2009 Preview

Welcome to the 2009 season. We are a week away from opening day. The Pittsburgh Steelers host the Tennessee Titans in the first game of the year on Thursday, September 10th. This game will be a slugfest. The Super Bowl champion Steelers are going to be looking to start hot this season and defend their title, while the Titans are looking to steal a win. The last time these teams met was in week 15 last year in Tennessee. The Titans put a stomping to the Steelers and then lost to the Ravens in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

Enough about the other teams, this is all about the St. Louis Rams. Since their last playoff appearance in 2004, the Rams are 19 and 45. 2006 was a bright spot, as they finished at an even 8 and 8 record. In the past two seasons, the Rams have won a total of 5 games. It is time that this team turned things around.

It will not be an easy season for sure. The Rams face a pretty tough division, NFC Champion Arizona Cardinals, the up and coming 49ers, and the Seahawks. In the past 4 seasons, the Rams have 4 wins against division opponents. An average of one a season, so if they look to compete for the division, they will need to start winning those games first. While the fans do not expect much from the team, we have a feeling that the Rams are going to be an 8 and 8 team this year and a possibility to make the playoffs. Go ahead laugh at us right now. They will need to rely on the defense this year to keep them in the games, as the offense is going to struggle.

Well, the Preseason is over and the Rams struggled. They ended up 0-4 and didn't not show much. Their offense was pretty much anemic. They scored a total of 30 points throughout the entire preseason. That is an average of just over 7 points a game.

Now to a preview of the first game against the Seahawks. What a way to open the season, having to travel to Seattle and face a division rival. Seattle is a tough place to play in; their fans are loud and love their team. The Rams offense and defense are going to have their hands full with the pressure the Seahawks like to bring. Expect Matt Hasslebeck to throw on them all day. Unless the Rams are able to match Seatle point for point, the game is not going to be that close. The Rams will need to rely on Stephen Jackson to carry them this game. Marc Bulger is not going to have the time he needs to find open receivers and will spend much of the day on his back. Best of luck to the Rams in this game, they will need it.

Well that is all we have here, we will see you Sept. 13th for the opening game of the Rams season.

          'The Greatest Show on Turf'

          Rams fall to the Seahawks

          Sept. 14, 2009

The season opened for the St. Louis Rams with a trip to division rival, the Seattle Seahawks. This was a game that was dominated by the defense of Seattle and their offense.

This game started off pretty good for the Rams. They held the Seahawks pretty much in check on the first drive, but allowed a 50 yard field goal attempt by Mare, which was kicked right down the middle.

When the Rams took over, they could not find a rhythm and had were forced to punt. Their defense could not stop Matt Hassellbeck, who torched them for a 47 yard td pass, one of his 2 TDs of 40+ yards in this game.

The Rams got within 3, after an errant pass from Hasselbeck was returned for a TD, but the Seahawks answered right back with a 57 yard pass.

Bulger threw 4 interceptions in this game and was not able to throw a TD pass. Jackson scored the only offensive touchdown for the Rams coming from a five yard run.

Neither team could run the ball, but the Seahawks only needed their passing game in this one.

Bulger was asked after the game about his performance: "Well, it was not pretty. I did not do anything to help my team. I can't be throwing interceptions all game and expect to win. I had, what 3 or 4 interceptions. Our defense played well, but I kept putting them in bad situations."

Steve Spagnuolo was asked about his gameplan: "We wanted to establish the run early on, but their defense played a heck of a game. They didn't allow Jackson to get outside to make anything happen. We will have to make changes for the next game against them."

Up next for the Rams are the 1-0 Redskins, in Washington. This will be a battle for the Rams, as they will be putting in a lot of miles after coming back from Seattle.

Just a suggestion, try to pound the rock w/ Steve Jackson... he's the best player by far on their offense and if you can control the clock with him, it creates less chances for the defense to allow touchdowns

That is what I have been trying to do. I just don't get yards with him. I am also going to work out my layout some more. It is definitely too large. I might take out the NFL news and stats at the bottom and just keep the game recap and standings. I might make the standings in its own part and just update that as I go.

I did play some offline games against my buddy and one had me using the rams and he was the lions. It was a back and forth game (62 to 58, rams) and Jackson was a beast for me. He had about 100 yards rushing and receiving. My only win with them. I have yet to play my third game against the Packers, but don't expect much out of it.

                'The Greatest Show on Turf'

                Heartbreak in the Nation's Capital

                Sept 21, 2009

Here we are, week 2 of the 2009 season and the St. Louis Rams traveled to Washington D.C. to take on the Redskins. This was a heartbreak for the Rams' faithful, as they watched them lose 13-7 at the very end of the game. The Rams offense again struggled to get anything going and it was up to the Special Teams to keep them in the game this week. It was a low scoring affair and both offenses made the others defense look great.

Early in the game it looked like the 'Skins would have no problems scoring points, as Jason Campbell connected with Chris Cooley for a 64 yard Touchdown. They didn't stop there though, on their next possession, they drove down field to settle for a field goal. The only score for the Rams came on the ensuing kickoff, which was returned by Robinson for 95 yards. He was untouched as he scampered in and gave the Rams hope.

Marc Bulger had an ok game, but again threw an interception and didn't record a TD pass. He was asked about his game and once again he didn't have anything good to say about himself.

"I played bad once again. I missed open receivers and I turned the ball over. I was set up to be a hero at the end but never looked off [Stanley] who was open over the middle. I make the pass and we win. It is as simple as that. "

McMichael was again a threat for the offense as he accumulated 59 yards on 6 catches. But Stephen Jackson was limited in his carries, 9. When asked about this, Pat Shurmur said "[He] just hasn't been able to get to the holes. We have been behind late in the games, so we stick with the passing. Our line is playing great, limiting the number of hits on Bulger, but just not opening the holes for Jackson enough."

Jackson vented his frustration to us saying "I want the ball. I keep saying get me the ball. I just don't get the touches we need and when I do, I have no hole."

Next week the Rams have their home opener against the Green Bay Packers (1-1). On paper it looks like a huge mismatch for the Rams.

                Scoring by Quarter:
                1st:
                Campbell to Cooley, 0-7

To get more possessions, I am thinking of bumping the time to 15 minutes or lower the run off. I have it to 15 now, but i think i might change it to 25.

                  Any thoughts on that?

                    Game 3 Preview
Green Bay Packers @ St. Louis Rams
                    Saturday, Sept 26, 2009

Tomorrow is a big game for the Rams. They get their home opener and have to play a very tough team. The Packers should have no problems passing the ball and Clay Matthews should give the Oline plenty of problems.

The Rams Defense will have to play a great game, as they will face a passing attack from Aaron Rodgers. He has weapons at all positions: Greg Jennings, Donald Lee, and Ryan Grant are just three of those weapons. Grant will also be a threat running the ball. The Rams have yet to give up many yards to a RB, so he may be held in check.

For the Rams, Marc Bulger needs to play a much better game. Through two games this season, he has 5 interceptions and no touchdowns. That is one of the reasons they are 0-2. Last week was a heartbreaker, as they were 4 yards from tying the game, winning if they make the extra point.

                    Keys to Victory:
                    Rams:
                    1. Run the ball - Jackson has been limited in action this season so far, but he needs touches.
                    2. Protect the ball - Bulger can't throw picks this game. If he does, don't expect a win.
                    3. Play defense - The Packers are going to come out swinging. They have a passing attack and will use it. They must also stop Grant from running wild

                    Packers:
                    1. Fly high - Rodgers needs to test the Rams defense early and often. Go deep and his receivers should make the catches
                    2. Play take away - So far, the Rams are -4 in turnovers. Bulger has thrown 5 ints and Stanley fumbled once.
                    3. Control the clock - Nothing is better than coming into a team's house and keeping their offense off the field.

                    Prediction:
The Packers win easily, 31 to 10. Rodgers throws 3 touchdown passes and Grant adds one on the ground. Bulger has another game to forget, throwing a TD pass and 3 ints. Jackson gets things rolling early, but they stray away from him in the 2nd half, 40 yards this game.

I have played my next 2 games. I am waiting to play a few more games before updating. That and I don't have my files with the main page on my laptop yet.

Re: The Greatest Show on Turf

Well, i have lost interest in posting this dynasty. I have played a few more games and have been struggling. I am sitting at 0-7 right now (pretty much like in real life). I just don't know enough about the team and want to do a Penguins franchise, so I am going to switch to that. Sorry to those who had been following.
