What do you consider important in a dynasty report?

There's a lot of options that we have as dynasty people in how we report and present our dynasty. Which do you prefer? Do you prefer a data heavy thread to view.. lots of #'s and such. Or do you prefer more story based... more of a 'reporting' like you find in news? Or a mix?

I went with the last one. Have all of the stats in the game gets a little distracting at times, but also, having a huge write up on the game with a recap of practically every drive does the same thing. It's tough to find that happy medium.

Honestly, I have found that I read only a few things while looking at reports now...

      Game Scores
      Team Record
      Recruiting News
      Coach Movement (New Jobs)

My Army dynasty is pretty much built on how I look at those things.

Simple, easy to follow and easy to get a lot of games played.

Mmy opinion isn't really on there but I chose 50/50. The actual balance is up to you to choose since it comes down to which one you want to be more in depth with. If you are not a very good writer then you should stick to stats and a small report on the game. If you are a good writer then you can step it up with a full report on the game like a newspaper would have. If you have a great story that you want to flesh out then start out with the story and see where it goes; if it works out then keep it going, if not then drop it and go more statistical.

Story - I think there should be some type of story but it's focus in the dynasty doesn't have to be the main point. Your story could range from being the main thing (like the fight night reports) to just maybe you noticing you need more depth at a new position or talking about a phone call to a recruit.

Stats - You should atleast have the stats covered in Pujol's generators or the stats available when you view the match report ) where it only shows box score, scores, team stats, and certain individual stats.

I too picked 50/50. I love seeing stats but don't need to see everything. Just the basics. Key players ect.. I like the stories.. It's what's seperates each dynasty. If I like the style and where the person is taking it, I follow. If there isn't much detail and it's just a post of your game and what the score is then I get bored and don't have much to help pass the time at work when I am sitting there for 10 hours with nothing to do.

It has to be a mix of the two for me to be interested. If I open up a thread and all I see is one of those generated box scores, I won't be visiting the thread again. If all I see is a long essay, same result.

There's more to it though, it has to look nice as well. You can have a perfect mix of reports and stats, but if it isn't appealing to the eye it isn't going to keep interest after a while. I'm not saying you have to have some photoshop layout that took hours, but adding some pictures and formatting text to look better can do wonders for the appearance of the dynasty.

The photo capture ability in this game is incredible. Gotta have pictures.

You don't HAVE to have in game pics or video to make a dynasty interesting. Just having a picture of a new player, dynasty banner, and team logos that are of a similar effect (like those that people make and upload to photobucket for dynasties that have a metallic look or a dirtied up look) will catch a reader's eye and keep them involved.

Just seeing big bold text that says HEAT SIGN LEBRON AND BOSH with a short 3 sentence tidbit under it is not very creative. But if you take the same title, add a webpage or dynasty banner above it, have pictures of Lebron and Bosh of the same size with borders around them and you then don't even need really more than a paragraph for each player.

If I'm trying to present a dynasty I'm always big on uniforms and equipment being correct..I think it adds to the realism factor for me, so to be able to show that and what the game looked like really helps tell the story.

But I agree with you Lecrae a banner or picture here and there seems to attracts a good readership too.

I agree with the pictures, I've even contemplated using my DSLR camera to take pictures of my TV since I'm using Madden 09 just to add a little more to the recaps at times.
