The Chicago Bears havent won a Super Bowl since they shuffled in 1985 and the starved fans want their drought to end. Lovie Smith came close in 2006 but three straight seasons without a playoff appetrance has the low key coach on the hot seat. The team is relying on the arm of Jay Cutler who hopes his offense can be much improved from last season and that he can be protected more in the pocket. Cutler will be helped by the additions of Chester Taylor who will compete for the starting runing back job with Matt Forte.
Julius Peppers is the talk of the town as he is added to a Bears defense that is looking for its roar again. Peppers is the premier pass rusher in the league and with a healthy Brian Urlacher back in the fold fans are excited about the future.
This preseason the Bears also made these additional moves:
- Jamarcus Russell has been signed as a second opr third string option and will look to try his luck at the NFL again. The former number one draft choice has fallen hard and may have his last chance here.
- Walt Harris is back at corner back for the Bears. Harris was drafted by the team and is much older and wiser now as he looks to shore up the secondary.
- Mike Brown comes back to the team he captained for so many years. Brown isnt expected to play much or compete for a starting job, but he is here to help the young DB's get the position down and play it like he did.
The arm of Jason Campbell will come into play for the new Raiders. Campbell is a big upgrade from Jamarcus Russell and his leadership skills are going to be just as important for the stability of the offense. Also in oakland is Reggie Bush. Bush comes to the Raiders after wining a championship in New Orleans and will have a chance again to show off his skills for a team that needs inspiration. Bush will split time with Darren Mcfadden in the back field as speed will be key for the Silver and Black.
Al Davis also made a move for reserve quarterback Rex Grossman. Grossman was chased out of town in Chicago a few years ago and now has a chance to settle in as a backup. Davis likes Grossman's ability to throw the long ball which is a Raider trademark.
The defense remains solid for the team that will need to create turnovers and even score some points where needed.
