New York Jets Jack English Path
Miami Dolphins Ozzie Jones Path
Oakland Raiders Mike Zazzali Path
Miami Dolphins Maceo Sweetney Path
I'll post sepertate dynasties for you to follow once I post who each team drafted. Plus I started in the Preseason with the Bucs before switching to each team after my first year in Tampa Bay.
New York Jets Jack English Draft
Round 1 Pick 1 Jack English QB Stanford English is the top player in the draft and should be a difference maker in New York for years.
Round 2 Pick 1 Alonzi Simms MLB Michigan State With Alonzi Simms The Jets get another great middle linebacker for their 3-4 defense. Alonzi Simms and David Harris will make a great 1 2 punch at middle linebackers in the Jets 3-4 defense.
Round 3 Pick 1 Dexter Knox LOLB Missouri Valley State Knox is an excellent 3-4 outside linebacker and he will play at left outside linebacker besides Vernon Gholston. With the linebacking core set and Revis locked in as the #1 corner the Jets should have a strong team built for the future.
Round 4 Pick 1 Patrick Boma RG Northern Oklahoma State The Jets wanted a legit right guard. They had hoped Jamarious Bellows would be available here, but the Falcons took him in round 3.
Round 5 Pick 1 Casey Barone FB SMU Barone is a bruiser fullback that is being compared to Mike Alstott. Barone should have an immediate impact with the Jets.
Round 6 Pick 1 LeRon James RB Northern Arizona James will be the runningback of the future in New York. With Debrickishaw Ferguson starting left tackle, Alen Faneca starting left guard, Nick Mangold starting center, Patrick Boma starting right guard, and Jon Jansen starting right tackle. The Jets have an elite offensive line that can buy Jack English time to throw the ball. Plus English has less pressure on him to succeed right away.
Round 7 Pick 1 OJ Cook WR UNLV At UNLV last year OJ Cook had over 1000 receiving yards and 10 receiving touchdowns. UNLV Quarterback Cooper Reno is the top quarterback prospect in next years draft. Cook was Reno's go to guy. Reno threw 32 touchdowns and 10 picks. All 10 picks came off passes that were intended towards OJ Cook. At 6-4 231 lbs Cook is a physical receiver that can make plays in the red zone. There were questions about his route running and he ran a 4.51 40 at the combine which is why he fell to the Jets here, but the Jets believe they found a #1 receiver for Jack English in the long run.
The Jets are in Week 3 on my dynasty at the moment and all of the players I drafted are #1 on the depth chart at their respective positions. The Jets lost their home opener to the Titans 20 to 3 before they beat the Miami Dolphins and Dane Morrow on the road 20 to 3. New York is currently 1-1. New York has all of their draft picks for the 2010 NFL Draft. Looking to add more talent to a team built around them.
Miami Dolphins
Round 1 Pick 1 Joe Kain QB Florida State With Jake Long at left tackle the Dolphins knew they needed a quarterback for the long run. Long is better at run blocking than pass blocking, but he is still a talented pass blocker. Plus Kain can step in right away and make an impact.
Round 1 Pick 8 Ozzie Jones RB Oklahoma State The Dolphins want a long term runningback. Ronnie Brown cannot stay healthy and he enters the final year of his deal. Jones is being compared to Barry Sanders and with Jake Long at left tackle. Miami gave up John Beck and their 2010 first round pick to Washington for the rights to get this pick. The Dolphins took Ozzie Jones and this gives Dolphins quarterback Joe Kain less pressure on him as the Dolphins can run the football with Ozzie Jones.
Round 1 Pick 9 Caraun Lawrence RE Notre Dame Miami runs a 3-4 scheme they moved Jason Taylor to right outside linebacker in the 3-4. With Jason Taylor and Joey Porter as 3-4 outside linebackers the fins need to add a 3-4 defensive end to their scheme at right end. The Ozzie Jones draft is deep at defensive end so Miami thought this would be the perfect chance to capitalize. Miami gave up the 33rd overall pick and a 2010 2nd rounder to move up here.
Round 4 Pick 1 Rashanti Rogers RG Iowa Rogers is going to replace Shawn Murphy as the starting right guard for the Dolphins. Rogers has more upside and long term potential than Rogers.
Round 5 Pick 1 Devin Mathis WR Colgate Mathis is already the #2 receiver on the fins Depth Chart behind Ted Ginn Jr. With Ted Ginn Jr. and Devin Mathis along with tight end Todd Heap who Miami got by giving up the 65th overall pick and a 2010 3rd round pick. Joe Kain has the weapons to throw to on offense.
Round 6 Pick 1 Robert Barker CB John Caroll The Dolphins were unsure of who the sleepers were in this draft at the time. So they decided to draft Barker and hope they would find a Diamond in the rough. Unfortunately Barker has struggled in training camp and the odds of him sticking around are very slim for the long term.
Round 7 Pick 1 Demarquis Warren RT Michigan The Dolphins tried to get someone at right tackle to replace Shane Olvia. The Dolphins failed to find a diamond in the rough in round 7, but found an adequate backup that can give Miami depth at right tackle.
The opening portion of the season is over both Ted Ginn Jr and Todd Heap are on IR meaning the fins options are limited. The Dolphins were 1-2 when Heap was placed on IR. They were 1-4 when Ted Ginn Jr got injured. The Dolphins were 1-6 with backup right outside linebacker Charlie Anderson on IR. Miami brought in Justin Durant to replace him. There have been talks of Miami's coach getting fired. If that happens the Baltimore Ravens who look like the frontrunner to draft Alex Hurst will probably end up with Hurst and a new head coach. Miami replaced Todd Heap with David Martin, and got Dexter Jackson to replace Ted Ginn Jr. Rookie Devin Mathis is getting his chance to be Joe Kain's top target. Miami is 2-8 after 10 games.
Oakland Raiders Mike Zazzali Path
Round 1 Pick 1 Mike Zazzali QB Arizona The Raiders got a franchise quarterback in Mike Zazzali. Plus Zazzali can always hand the ball off to Darren McFadden if necessary.
Round 2 Pick 1 Geoff Schaffer LT Arkansas McFadden attended Arkansas and Zazzalli needs a blindside. There was talk of moving pro bowl right tackle Mark Wilson to left tackle, but this give Zazzali more time in the pocket.
Round 3 Pick 1 Sean Fogerty RG Ohio State Oakland gets some interior offensive line help. Good move by the Raiders.
Oakland traded draft picks in rounds 4 through 7 to get more draft picks. Plus this team has hardly any cap room to work with. The Raiders are 2-1 at the moment. They beat San Diego at home 40 to 14 where Zazzali threw for over 350 passing yards and they beat the Steelers 13 to 3 in Pittsburgh.
Miami Dolphins Maceo Sweentey Path
Round 1 Pick 1 Luke Rambis QB Ohio State Miami needed a quarterback and with Luke Rambis at quarterback and Jake Long at left tackle the pieces to a potent offense will start to form.
Round 1 Pick 2 Maceo Sweetney RB Tennessee The Dolphins gave up 3-4 LOLB Joey Porter, Punter Brandon Fields, and a 2010 first round pick to get Oakland's second pick in the draft. The Dolphins have Sweetney and Rambis doesn't have as much pressure on him.
Round 2 Pick 1 Malachi Cribbs WR Central Florida Cribbs might be the best receiver to come out of Central Florida since Brandon Marshall.
Round 3 Pick 1 Cliff Kennedy C Georgia Miami wanted a first round talent. They found a first round talent the fins found a first round talent in Cliff Kennedy and they don't need him to start right away as Miami has Samson Satelle at center.
Round 4 Pick 1 Cedric Dumas CB Western Illinois Miami was looking to find a sleeper and had no luck here.
Round 5 Pick 1 Tyler Palmer RG Calfornia Miami found there sleeper here in round 5. Palmer will start right away at right guard.
Round 6 Pick 1 Dean Short RT Rowan Short is the new starter at right tackle and he is a legit starter.
Round 7 Pick 1 Brenden Bell LT Cornell Bell is a great backup at left tackle and is capable of starting. He will fill in if Jake Long gets injured.
Miami got Kevin Curtis in a trade, but he is on IR. The Miami Dolphins are in a 3 way tie for first place. The Dolphins are 8-4, the Jets are 8-4, and the Patriots who got off to a 1-4 start back in October have won 7 straight. This week Miami goes to New England which I will post in my Sweetney dynasty.
