    Rebuilding the Worst Teams in the NFC/AFC: A Detroit/Buffalo 2-Team 'Chise (M10)

Hello, welcome to my new franchise. I decided to do something a little different; instead of one team, I decided a two-team franchise. I had a few in mind, but Detroit and Buffalo stuck out. I decided to do them. This will be just like a one team franchise, but just with two teams. Not much different. My goal is to get both teams to the Super Bowl, hopefully against each other.

    Game:
    Madden NFL '10
    Difficulty: All-Madden
    Quarter Length: 8 Minutes
    Acc. Clock: On
    Salary Cap: On
    Trade Deadline: On
    Injuries: On (Sim Injuries: On)
Draft Classes: EA Sports Default (I just like it better than the imported one)
Management: All 32 Teams (for realism purposes)

    Rule Book:
    Preseason/Regular Season Free Agent Guidelines:
    - I cannot sign anyone over a 90 OVR, unless the current starter at that position is a 79 OVR or lower.
    - I can sign 2 players with a OVR between 80-89, however if there OVR is between 85-89, the current starter must be a 75 OVR or lower. For players between 80-84 OVR, no restrictions.
    - Players 79 OVR or lower, no restrictions.

    Offseason Free Agent Guidelines:
(I have different sets of rules for offseason signings.)
    - If I'm going for a player that would be a starter at his position, the current starter's OVR must be 10 points or lower. Let's say I want to get a 94 OVR QB, but if the current starter is a 87 OVR, I can't sign him.
    - For backups, their OVR must be 5 points or lower than the starter's. Let's say my starting HB's OVR is a 84, and I want a backup, that backup must be 78 OVR (or less) or I can't sign him.
    - For players at a position that I need (let's say I only have 1 SS), they don't have restrictions as long as I go for the appropriate player. Like I said, let's say I only have 1 SS, but that player is my starter with a 94 OVR; I can't go for another starter, but instead a backup. Same with a backup, I must go for a starter.

    Trade Guidelines:
    - If I'm trading for a starter (both for my team and the other team), I must include a 1st and/or 2nd round pick. This way if the backup doesn't do well for the other team, they can have get a potential starter in the 1st/1nd round.
    - If I'm going to conduct a trade, it must be beneficial to the other team. I can't trade a 7th round pick for a 99 OVR player.

    Other Notes:
    - The reason I'm controlling all 32 teams is because I'm tired of seeing star players in free agency. Sure, every year there's a few stars in free agency, but in this game, it gets out of control. Also, I want to make sure the draft is realistic. The CPU drafts a QB even if the team doesn't need a QB. I'll also do trades for the other teams, but rarely, and only if it's needed. So the reason I'm controlling all 32 teams: to keep it realistic.
    - If I do anything else important, I'll let sure you guys know.

I think that's it. Later on, I'll have recaps for both the Lions and Bills. Maybe even a few other updates if I get the time too. Thanks for reading.

2008 Detroit Lions Recap and 2009 Offseason Recap

    2008 Detroit Lions Recap

The Detroit Lions finished a hugely disappointing 0-16, the first ever NFL to finish a season with 16 losses. Other NFL teams went winless, but the Lions was the first since the league expanded to 16 games. This was also after going 4-0 in the preseason.

The Lions fired then-Head Coach Rod Marinelli the day after finishing 0-16. He went 10-38 in three seasons as head coach. They hired Jim Schwartz on January 15. They also hired Gunther Cunningham as Defensive Coordinator and Scott Linehan as Offensive Coordinator.

The Lions also unveiled new logo design and uniforms. The Lion now has a flowing mane and fangs and the font of Lions is more modern and stylish. The black alternate jerseys used from 2005-2007 was discontinued and the retro throwback jersey used in 2008 became the official third jersey.

They hope the 2009 season is much better than the 2008 season and hope they can get their first win since Week 16 of the 2007 season.

    2009 Offseason Recap
    Key Losses:
Quarterback Jon Kitna - Traded to the Cowboys for Cornerback Anthony Henry
Defensive Tackle Cory Redding - Traded (with a fifth round pick) to the Seahawks for Linebacker Julian Peterson

    Key Signings:
Linebacker Larry Foote - Released from the Steelers, Detroit native

    Round 2, Pick 33 - S Louis Delmas - Western Michigan

2008 Buffalo Bills Recap and 2009 Offseason Recap

      2008 Buffalo Bills Recap

The Bills had an up and down season in 2008, going 7-9. They started out with a 4-0 record, but then went 3-9 to finish out the season. They missed the playoffs for the ninth straight year.

Dick Jauron is returning as the head coach. This will be his fourth year as head coach. However, he is on the hot seat this year and some analysts have even said if the Bills do have a good season, Jauron could lose his job anyway.

The Bills hope to improve the three straight 7-9 seasons they have from 2006 to 2008.

      2009 Offseason Recap
      Key Losses:
Quarterback J. P. Losman - Allowed to leave as a free agent, eventually signed to the UFL team, Las Vegas Locomotives

Guard Derrick Dockery - Released, re-joined Washington Redskins
Tackle Jason Peters - Traded to the Eagles for a 1st round pick and 4th round pick

Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick - Free Agency
Cornerback Drayton Florence - Free Agency
Center Geoff Hangartner - Free Agency
Running Back Dominic Rhodes - Free Agency

Breaking News: Huge Trade for Buffalo

Today we have breaking news out of Buffalo. A huge trade has occurred. The Buffalo Bills sent their 1st round pick and 3rd round pick to the Arizona Cardinals for veteran QB Kurt Warner, along with a 6th rounder.

A lot of people would question this move, sending arguably a future Hall of Famer for a 1st and 3rd round pick, especially since the backup is Matt Leinart who is considered a bust. However, the Cards still think Leinart will become a great quarterback with playing time. Also, Warner will almost certainly retire after this season and it would be better for Leinart to get starting time now instead of next year. And they now have two 1st round picks to get a quarterback just in case the trade backfires. Despite the praise for Matt Leinart, they signed QB Rex Grossman to compete with Leinart for the starting job.

Will this trade help both teams? The Bills? The Cards? Or will it bomb for both of them? Only time will tell, although the sight of Warner throwing balls to Owens and Evans will defiantly be set in the mind for Bills fans for years to come.

Kurt Warner hopes to lead the Bills to the playoffs for the first time in nine years.
