The Axemen Cometh: An Acadia University FBS Project for NCAA 11

    Platform: PS3
    Rosters: Buckeye 02
    Sliders: SECElites
    Playing Difficulty: All-American
    Recruiting Difficulty: All-American
    Quarters: 8 Minutes

So here is a quick synopsis of what my project involves. Being Canadian I was inspired by the passion and atmosphere of American College Football, and although we have our own college football programs it is no where near as rich and deep. In this dynasty project I have recreated the 4 teams from our AUS conference and placed them in 4 Mid American States and will see how they fair over the years. I'll be shuffling the Conference USA and MAC conferences in order to move the 4 teams into the MAC - EAST conference.

I'll be playing as my Alma Mater, Acadia University. The teams were all brought in with a roster of average Joe stats; and each team had 3 exceptional players that had a high 80's overall. The prestige is 2 star and the school report all start off with a C+ with one bright spot that is B+ and one sore spot that is D+.

The following is a summary of the 4 teams I'm importing:

Acadia Axemen (Wolfville, Louisiana) - This center of Academics has a long tradition of FCS football. Although always in the hunt the teams lacking in defense always seems to keep them out of the championship game. Their offense seems promising this year with an outstanding young Quarterback and a solid Running Back.

Saint Mary's Huskies (Halifax, Connecticut) -
The Huskies have always managed to put up a competitive team year after year and is always a favorite to win their division. They are a very balanced team that features strong players both on offense and defense.

Mount Allison Mounties (Sackville, Mississippi) - The Mounties are usual the underdogs in their division. Although they have enjoyed success with their football program it has been few and far between. A team that preaches a defense first mentality the Mounties hope to get back on track led by their star Corner Back and Middle Linebacker.

Saint Francis Xavier X-Men (Antigonish, Missouri) - A true Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde team if ever there was one, from one year to another this team could either be really good or really poor. A university that is steeped in tradition Saint FX has always sought out stand out running backs and recruited capable offensive linemen to make holes for their strong ground game. 2010 sees a team that is lead by a standout back who has a compliment of linesmen that should pose a threat to the other teams.

(AP) The Division I football league will be shaken up in the 2010 Season as 4 teams will be changing divisions and another 4 will be changing conferences. After much controversy and many seasons of losing records the Akron Zips, UAB Blazers, and University of Louisiana Monroe and Lafayette will be returning to FCS play. In their stead the FCS teams of Acadia University, Saint Mary's University, Mount Allison University, and Saint Francis Xavier University will be promoted up into the MAC-East conference. To accommodate this Eastern Michigan will move to Conference USA- East, and Bowling Green and Northern Illinois will move to Conference USA- West.

Ummm, you do know the only state of those four that is "Mid-America" is Missouri, right?

But in all seriousness, I really like this idea. Should be interesting to follow.

(AP) - Coach Cumming made his final squad cuts today and official announced the depth charts for this upcoming season. With both Senior quarterbacks departing last year 3 freshmen competed for the starting job. After a few practices it was clear that 6'0 Freshman Evan Brown was head and shoulders ahead in progression then Eli Prochnau and Andrew Healy. Brown will be the focal point of Acadia's offense as they setup the run plays for stud running back Holden Morales.

August 15th, 2010 (AP) - Acadia's season schedule was released to the press today and overall they have some challenges; the strength of schedule is rated a (B-) with marquee match ups against possibly ranked Penn State and a solid test in ACC team Boston College. Although Acadia has enjoyed a long standing rivalry with Saint Mary's due to scheduling conflicts the teams aren't setup to meet this season. That leaves Acadia to play a game against Mount A and Saint FX on the schedule.

The Axeman will kick things off in eleven days with a game against their former division II team FCS East Bronco's.

August 21st, 2010 (AP) - The Associated Press released their preliminary team rankings and it's no surprise that Alabama finds itself at number 1. After winning the National Championship Game last year many of the teams starters have returned to try to come back and make it two in a row. Unfortunately, no representation from the MAC from the onset.
