Re: Ray-Ray Armstrong | The Next Sean Taylor
Chapter 1;Episode 1; Taking Care of Business
All week long, people are talking about the Hurricanes vs. the Buckeyes. They beat us last year, but this year, they're coming to our house. Coach Golden has a lot of pressure on him and he seemed nervous and he should be. A win would propel him and really make an impact, a loss, especially a bad one, will just make his whole "new era" thing look like a classical antic. Vaughn and I made a deal, first on to knock someone out get $20 bucks, $50 for an interception. Vaughn and I have a very fond, almost weird relationship, we trust each other and we know that no one is going over the top on us and if they do, you better knock him out and make sure he understand that it's your zone. I talked to Brandon before the game, he let me know his plan on Posey, loose coverage with safety zone over the top. Without Pryor, this team shouldn't be so hard to stop.
The game started on the right foot, two straight 3 and outs and most of all, Boom Herron got injured and it looked pretty bad. Unfortunately for Louis, I won the bet against Vaughn. He was running this 5 and out route, I read it from a mile away and as soon as he caught the ball, well, I let him know my name. Big Daddy Forston made a big play, causing a fumble and recovering it. We were backed up in our endzone, so that play saved us, that didn't stop coach Golden from giving us an earful. Our offense struggled, as usual in the first quarter but picked it up and in the second quarter, scoring 13 points. We held the second ranked Buckeyes to just 62 yards in the 1st quarter and 0 points. Boom Herron came back and burned us one a huge touchdown run. Jacory had our back though, scoring on back to back drives. 27-7 near the end of the 3rd quarter, we had this. My performance so far was mediocre, I wasn't satisfy, neither was Coach. Our D continue to dominate with an interception by Brandon Harris. I wanted an interception but he just didn't want to throw it to me. Down by 20 points, Ohio State started to run the no-huddle, perfect. It was just a matter of time before he makes a mistake, the QB was young, inexperience and most of all, intimidated. We won the game, 30-7. We gave up a touchdown on special team. I had a pretty average game, 6 tackles, that's it. I was pretty disappointed actually, at least we won. Maryland was next and boy was I ready for that game. A chance to redeem myself after this mediocre game, I needed to make a splash onto the scenes.
