Vikings News
-Hope Turner returns to her team after a road win in the season opener to find that her offense is in good shape.
"I can't say enough about Falo and what he did last week." Turner praised her rookie backup in an interview during the week. "He came in on day one and there was no hesitation, no nothing, he came in an worked his sweet *** off to get in shape, long before he ever thought he would get the chance to start on week one. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'll start 15 more games this regular season and will kick some asses out there, but it's great to know your team is in good hands should anything happen."
Even though the Vikings ran a limited offensive gameplan last Sunday, that will not be the case from now on.
"Oh, absolutely not. We've worked hard in the offseason, believe me that there will be a lot of wrinkles you haven't seen yet to this offense. I mean, I need some way to show off what I've learned by now, don't I?"
-One player that caught some attention was Tyre McAlister. The former 7th round pick and preseason cut has solidified his grip on the spot as the #2 wideout before Raheem Norton, with his elite speed making him a natural deep threat to force coverages to give some room to star receiver Percy Harvin.
"The guy's just sick." Cornerback Jackson Bell commented on his teammate. "I mean, usually, when I give someone a 5 yard cushion to cover them in practice, when I'm on Ty, I give him 10 because, boy that guy is fast. And then, he still runs past me. I mean, no one runs past me, that just doesn't happen. Sure, he may not quite have Percy's hands or moves yet, but boy he's tough to cover. You better have a safety back when he's going deep, or you're gonna get burned."
Of course, if defenses are forced to keep their safeties in coverage, that's news Noel Devine will like to hear.
Around the League
-One team that probably wouldn't mind a reboot of the season are the Philadelphia Eagles, who in less than one quarter of play lost both starter Michael Vick and rookie backup Taani Buchanan to injury, by the end of the game, punter T.J. Conley had to play several series as the signal caller. While Vick is expected back within a week or two, Buchanan had to be put on IR with a compound fracture, it is expected that the Eagles will hit free agency, because right now, UDFA Carey Daniel is the only active QB on their roster.
The Atlanta Falcons didn't fare much better in terms of injury, as QB Matt Ryan is out for more than half the regular season with a herniated disk. The Lions Matthew Stafford is down with a shoulder injury yet again, but should be back within a couple of weeks.
The most important other injury this week concerned the Arizona Cardinals, as veteran receiver Larry Fitzgerald suffered a broken fibula and has been put on season-ending injured reserve.
