New York Jets Dynasty: 2012 & Beyond - Presented by Steviephresh319

The New York Jets (2012- )

    Settings:
    System: Playstation 3
    Difficulty: All-Pro
    Game Length: 7 minute quarters
Rosters: As recent as Sept. 4th, 2012

    AUTHORS NOTE:
Hello everyone and welcome to my first attempt at a franchise here on operationsports. My plan for this is to keep this to a "keeper franchise"...if that makes any sense? Let me explain to you what I mean. Unless some DRASTIC changes are made for the next version of Madden (Madden 14) I will not be purchasing that version and I will continue playing my copy of Madden 13.

That being said, I will be very involved with this franchise because I plan to play many years with this team and turn the New York Jets into a dynasty! That means, when next year rolls around and Madden 14 comes out, everything that happened in REAL LIFE will not necessarily be included next season because everything that happends in MY FRANCHISE will be "what really happened". You guys follow? Basically, history is in the making RIGHT NOW so whatever happends from here on out in my franchise is what happends.

I hope that makes sense to people, it does to me, if you're confused about any of it i'll try to clear it up so you can follow! Well, hope you guys enjoy what I have to offer, thanks for stopping by and checking this out!

    Rex out; Cerligione Era Begins

East Rutherford, NJ -- Breaking news today, as it has been confirmed by the New York Jets front office that Rex Ryan has officially been dismissed as head coach of the New York Jets. A brief statement was released by team officials:

"The New York Jets and Rex Ryan were both in agreement when both parties decided it would be best for Ryan to leave the team as head coach of this organization. The past few years, Ryan has been able to build off of what prior coach Herm Edwards had put together, but we did not see Ryan being able to build off of anything more then what he has already put together, which made us come to the conclusion that he was just not the best fit for the job in this organization."

The Jets were quick to find a new head coach, who happends to be a "no name" to the NFL, but is certainly highly regarded as a top fantasy football player! At his press conference, Coach Stephen Cerligione was asked what made him want to be a head football coach and how was he able to get a job like this at such a young age?

"As a kid, I was never too great at playing the game. I was usually off on the sidelines, picking up what players were doing and seeing what I could do to help them out. During my freshman year in high school, my head coach got so fed up with the way he thought that I was trying to get "over his head" and coach the team. That led to him letting me coach a game against our school's rival. After that game, he told me that was the smartest decision he had ever made, as we wound up taking them down 64-13 and it was also the first time we had beat them in 20 years.

After that game, I was asked by the Varsity coach to start attending their games on the sideline as an 'assistant/player coach'. Hell, I figured I don't play much and I was more than happy to help out from a standpoint where I knew best and that was the sidelines! That's really where my coaching career began. So, as a player I was nothing to look at and never got too much playing time. But, my head was in the game and my knowledge of the game was there and that's what my coaches saw. That's when I knew I wanted to be a head coach in the NFL some day."

Folks, there you have it. A man who could never be an NFL Hall of Famer, but did the next best thing in his eyes and that was to become an NFL head coach. In his closing statements, Cerligione had this to say:

"As a coach, i'm a strategist. I'm always trying out different things to win games. That's what I want to do, win games, period. How do you make it to the playoffs? You win games. How do you make it to the Super Bowl? You win during post-season. How do you win a Super Bowl? You take what you've done throughout the year and you put all of that into one game and you WIN. As head coach of the New York Jets, i'd like to express my gratitude to the organization for giving me this opportunity. It's a dream come true and I will not dissapoint. Here's to the Gang Green organization, and a 2012 Super Bowl victory!"

A confident Stephen Cerligione has declared that his team will win the super bowl this year! This should be an exciting one!

Cerligione earns first 'W' as head coach in blowout against Cincinnati

Cincinnati, Ohio - - It may not have been a regular season win, but a blowout like this will definitely catch anyone who was watching last nights games' eyes.

The new head coach of the New York Jets said in his press conference that he came to New York to win and he gave everyone just a small preview of what is to be expected of him in his debut pre-season game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Jets' defense came out early in the first quarter and sent the Bengals' offense back to the bench on a quick 3 and out. The storm would begin from there on out. Mark Sanchez and Shonn Greene led the Jets' offense down the field until Sanchez was able to find J. Kerley in the end zone on a 26 yard pass that would give the Jets an early 7-0 lead. Before the end of the quarter, the Jets were able to add onto their lead on a 48 yard field goal kick, making it 10-0 going into the second quarter.

The Bengals' were finally able to make it into field goal territory, but came up just short on a 38 yard field goal attempt which kept the score at 10-0 in favor of New York. It was the Jets offense that continued to control the game, as Tim Tebow was able to set his team up to get into field goal position. Nick Folk added on three more points to the score making it 13-0, gang green. Tebow concluded the second quarter with a 27 yard touchdown pass to J. Baker which would make the score 20-0 going into half time.

Things were obviously looking great for the Jets' so far and a 65 yard touchdown pass from Tebow to S. Hill made things even better. That is when disaster struck. Terrance Ganaway, who had rushed for 70 yards on 7 carries, was hit hard and later found out he would be unable to return to the game because of broken ribs.

" It's tough, you know?, says Ganaway, "You're out there, playing hard, having a great game and then your suddenly out of it. I'm trying to compete for a spot here and that blow may have ruined my chances for anything this season."

Although Ganaway was knocked out of the game, the hit came right on the one yard line, where Bilal Powell would make his presence known and score the touchdown making the score 34-0 heading into the fourth quarter.

The Jets opened up the fourth quarter with another field goal by Nick Folk, giving them a 37-0 lead. A shutout sure would have been nice, but the Bengals knew they couldn't let that happen in front of the hometown fans as embarrassing a game that this already had been. A short 8 yard pass from B. Gradkowski to J. Develin would finally put the Bengals on the board, but they still trailed by 30 points!

To end an already amazing night for Tim Tebow, he finished off the game with a beautiful 26 yard pass to D. Epps and finally putting the game to an end, 44-7.

Following the game, Jets' head coach Stephen Cerligione was asked to talk about the game:

"Obviously, i'm really proud of the way each and everyone of our guys played out there tonight. It may just be pre-season, but if I have guys that are willing to play that hard in pre-season, what does that tell you once regular season comes around? Players' are obviously going to want it more once the games actually matter, so if this is the kind of effort i'm going to get from my players at this point in time, i'm excited to see the attitude of these guys' once regular season rolls around. I can't express how happy I am with the team. Great W tonight and I can't wait for next weeks game!"

When asked about Tebow and Bilal Powell on how well they played, Coach Cerligione commented:

"Ya know what? They both played great today, but this is just the first game of pre-season. I'm not taking anything away from them at all, the way they played is just the way I want every single one of my players to play. But, as I said, this is just the first game. Making predictions about who will start come regular season is ridiculous at this point. I have people asking me if Tebow will start over Sanchez? Will Powell be named starting running back? These questions are moot and not something i'm even thinking about right now. Great game played by all!"

Well, the new head coach seems very outspoken, but it seems as if he may be able to put something together here in New York. Stay tuned for next weeks pre-season match up!

Final Score: Jets 44 Bengals 7

      KEY STATS:
      Tebow: 3 quarters, 9-12, 187 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT
      Powell: 2 quarters, 16 ATT, 102 YD, 1 TD

        Question to the readers!

Hey guys, thanks for those of you that are following! Throughout the season, I may have some questions to ask you. It could be to throw in some questions for an interview, or it could have something to do with trades/signings you think I should make. That being said, here is my first question to you all:

The Jets are in need of a WR. I'm trying to think up of some REALISTIC trades/signings I could make. Can any of you guys help me out and give me some of your opinions on what YOU would do?

I'm trying to get this done by the time pre-season is over that way I can have some experience with whoever I pick up before the regular season hits. So, quick responses are much appreciated because I hope to have pre-season ended by Saturday or Sunday!

How up to date are the rosters you're using? If Deion Branch is a free agent. Then REALISTICALLY, one could imagine the Jets might sign him. Lol.

Jets' take care of the defending Super Bowl Champs!

East Rutherford, NJ - - Another outstanding performance by Tim Tebow granted him and the Jets' to their second straight pre-season victory!

The defending Super Bowl champs were never able to find their groove in this one as the Giants' defense would allow 27 unanswered points before being able to put up three points of their own late in the third quarter. The first 24 points scored by the Jets all came in the second quarter on 2 touchdown passes by Tim Tebow. Tebow threw for 266 yards and was 15 for 29 on pass attempts. He threw two picks, but his impressive numbers throughout the game would outweigh those two mistakes.

"I feel great right now. Last week I was happy with the way I was able to play and this week I picked up right from where I left off. The offense is doing a great job blocking and getting open. It makes it much easier for me as a quarterback to do my job when the rest of the team is also doing their part. Things are looking great right now!" Says Tebow.

In the first two games of the pre-season, the Jets defense' has allowed a total of 24 points, while the offense has been able to score a total of 71 total points. So far, head coach Stephen Cerligione has been very pleased with the way his team has been playing and has faith that his team will be play off contenders this upcoming season. This is what he had to say after the game:

"We haven't even hit regular season yet, but with the way these guys are playing; it would be hard for someone to look at us as a team right now and say we don't have a shot at making the play-offs. Every single player on this team has gone out there and proved to me and the fans that they want this more than anything. As I stated in last weeks press conference, it's only pre-season and these guys are making it already feel like its the regular season with the performance they've been putting on for the past two weeks. At this point, I couldn't have asked for a better organization to join and I know that we will continue our success going into next weeks match-up against Carolina."

The Jets' begin the pre-season with a record of 2-0 and look to continue their success into next weeks pre-season match-up when they square off against the Carolina Panthers!

Jets' continue perfect pre-season; Thomas out for season

East Rutherford, NJ - - It was a game filled with great success for the New York Jets. Superb offense and an almost perfect defensive game was what should have been the highlight of the night. Unfortunately for New York, an early blow to linebacker Bryan Thomas sent him to the sidelines and it was later confirmed that Thomas would miss the rest of the season due to a broken tailbone.

"Definitely not the way I envisioned things coming into pre-season," says Thomas, "I was excited for the new season and to play with some new players, a new coach - I was pumped. I really felt like we were going to do big things this year and I believe we still are. It's just unfortunate that I won't be able to contribute the way that I wanted to which is being out there on the field with my team. The most I can do now is attend the games and watch from the sidelines and cheer on my team."

It was very visible how upset Thomas was about the early end to his season, but still the Jets were able to prevail in this game as they went onto absolutely destroy the Carolina Panthers in a 34-3 victory.

Leading the Jets' offense was Terrance Ganaway who ran for 103 yards on 22 attempts and contributed with a touchdown of his own. Tim Tebow continued his dominance this pre-season as well passing for 115 yards and completing 6 of his 12 passing attempts, 2 passing touchdowns and a 3 yard rushing TD of his own.

But, who played better? The Jets' offense? or the defense? The defense allowed Carolina's only 3 points in the first quarter when O. Mare was put into field goal position and succesfully kicked the football through the center of the field goal. After that, the Jets' defense was unstoppable, causing 4 total forced fumbles and recovering 2 of those fumbles. On the third forced fumble, M. Wilkerson picked up the ball and ran it 18 yards into the endzone right before the half time whistle making the score 24-3 in favor of the Jets.

Tebow's 3 yard touchdown run in the third and Nick Folks 36 yard field goal in the fourth quarter would be the final points scored in the game, giving the Jets' another easy win, 34-3.

As much dominance as the Jets' are showing this pre-season, people are still questioning whether or not the Jets can really make it to the post season. They lack depth in their wide outs and the Mark Sanchez - Tim Tebow situation is still a head scratcher to many. Sanchez has only played a quarter in each game so far this season and he hasn't shown anything we haven't seen over his first three seasons in New York. Tim Tebow on the other hand, has seen much more playing time this pre-season, and with each game seems to be getting better and better. Following a new head coach here in New York, is it maybe time for a new starting quarterback as well? Only time will tell and with just one pre-season game left and the regular season just a few weeks away, decisions must be made soon!

                Jets Pre-season Record: 3-0

                  Breaking News:

With just one pre-season game left and the regular season right around the corner, the New York Jets have officially announced the release of WR Stephen Hill. The move seems to have been made to free up space for the newley signed WR Steve Smith. Smith was signed to a one year deal worth $1.4 million. The Jets expect the move to add more depth to their offensive game as they see this as a solid addition to play alongside Holmes.

"I'm happy to have been picked up by a team during the pre-season. I've been working out and staying in shape, getting my reps in, and i'm thankful to the Jets' for giving me this opportunity." Says Smith.

                              Jets complete perfect pre-season

Philadelphia, PA -- The Jets finished with a perfect record of 4-0 for the pre-season, defeating the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. It was the closest game of the Jets' pre-season, winning by only 3 points with a final score of 16-13. Finally, the Jets showed some signs that they may not be immortal after all!

"A win is a win," Says Jets head coach Stephen Cerligione, "If we were to go out every game and win by only 3 points, i'd take it. Winning games is the only thing that leads to a championship. These guys played their hearts out all pre-season long. I expect them to do the same for the entire season. This is an exciting start to my career and I look forward to bringing this organization a super bowl victory this season and seasons to come!"

It was the first time this pre-season that a Jets opponent would score first. Mark Sanchez was driving his team down the field in the first quarter, but a pick 6 by Rodgers-Cromartie in the endzone would lead to an early 7-0 for the Eagles. Before the quarter would end, the Jets defense would not allow another score by Philly and the Jets were able to add on 3 points on a 32 yard field goal by Brown and a touchdown pass from Sanchez to Terrance Ganaway would put the Jets up 10-7 heading into the second quarter.

The Jets next two scores would come by two field goals kicked by Nick Folk, the first one for 30 yards and the other for 22 yards. This would give the Jets their final points of the game at 16. The score would remain 16-7 heading into the third quarter.

The third quarter started off with a 45 yard field goal by Eagles' kicker McBriar, putting his team in position to just score a touchdown and an extra point to take a 17-16 lead. Unfortunately for the hometown fans, all they would see is another successful field goal by McBriar, which gave the Eagles 3 points and finalizing the score of 16-13, in favor of the Jets.

A perfect pre-season sure is exciting. It gives a sense of accomplishment and makes the coaches, players, and fans feel good about what to expect from a team in the regular season. Still, most of the pre-season is made up of second or third stringers getting a lot of play time, and the players that matter most aren't seen as much. So the question is, can the Jets primary offense and defense match-up against other teams' primary offense and defense? We'll have to wait and see, as the pre-season has just ended and the regular season is set to begin!
